hi.. those who have already drive the new honda city... mind to know do there have any light detector? I mean when if u off your engine and you forget to off your car's light, do it have beep sound or any thing to let u know that u forget to off your light?
*
Yup, there's a beeping sound.!

Hey guys,
I'm new here
If we order now, when can we get the car?
And also will the interest go down any further in the next month or so?

Thanks
*
I overheard my SA speaking to a customer just before I collected my car yesterday... For E-Spec its currently about 4 months... Depending on colour.. S-Spec the waiting list is even shorter.

I'm wondering how come Honda City Malaysia interior all blackish. I believe the beige interior looks better.
*
Beige looks quite classy too, but black's my choice.!! I believe beige will get dirty easily... After time you'll see grey-ish dirt stains...

luckily i decided to get my car on march or after march, although bank loan was approved, dunno march the car price will be revise or not? if got more discount plus low interest rate, is really a good time to buy car. hehe...

dunno rate will be 2% or not? tongue.gif
*
IMHO, I think with yesterday's interest rate cut, there's a good chance that car financing interest rates will be lowered - but don't count on it going down immediately, there will be a time lag.

Agreed there about the lack of sound insulation. Will drive the car for a while and see how it goes. If I'm annoyed by the sound, I'll probably Autofoam it. Besides, Autofoam also firm up the chassis and reduce body roll.
*
Yeah, I noticed that the sound insulation in my new City could be better. Was wondering - will soundproofing + autofoaming void any warranties? I don't think so right?? I can't think of how it will void any warranties..

1. engine sound from the inside is loud and obvious when driving between 1st to 3rd gear. once touch 80km/h it's really smooth. so try to avoid small roads and drive faster. lol.

2. driving in rain is not so nice. the tok tok tok is very loud too as mentioned in my earlier post. might consider adding some insulation or just live with it.

*
Agreed on the sound insulation.!!

I've asked this before, but no one has replied - will adding any sound insulation void any warranty(ies) from Honda??

If nobody answers you, why don't you just call up a Honda center for an answer?

The major areas for sound insulation are: The door panels, ceiling, the bonnet hood and engine firewalling behind the dashboard, rear seats and floor and boot lid.

If every single car that comes in for servicing is checked for warranty voiding issues, imagine the backlog of work they will have! Even common sense will tell you the likelihood of anyone opening your door panels or ceiling is virtually zero unless you have a power window failure or a complaint of rattling noise or decide to install new speakers and of which, only the latter 2 is more likely to happen.

Having sound insulation done is no different from installing 3rd party body kit that sticks out of the car, the only difference is you have carpet plastered within the car body and I've seen dozens of modded City in the old klang road service center being serviced with no issues.
*
Yeah, maybe i'll do that.. Was hoping to get an answer without calling up an Honda center u see..! tongue.gif hehe..

Will update the rest here once i get my answer.!

Combination of both highway and town driving... That said, driving in the town's these few days has been a breeze, no cars on the roads in KL.! hehe

thanks for the info.
so far manage to only get rm500 discount. but i feel that's not the only thing. need to know wat kind of goodies can be expected. couldnt b beating around the bush n ask for stuff nvr exist right? expect to hv something like full tank petrol?? smart tag?? umbrella?? tint shop voucher (even though not quite logical). the show room i went offer v-kool package at RM1800, 4mil tint sheet with no gps. thinking to get secure film. read from previous post that there's a promotion with tint shop that comes with a free garmin gps. is it still around n is it secure film?
test drived the car n loved the tiptronic during down hill. though not quite usefull during overtaking as flooring the pedal feels more than enough.
*
Looks like you already know what you can ask for... a tank's worth of petrol, tinting discounts, smart tags are some of the more common items.. Some fellow posters here also ask for stuff like free door visors, boot trays, etc. No hard and fast rule when it comes to these things, depends on your negotiation skills bro!

How long is the waiting period for a honda city right now btw?

Hi guys. was wondering.. is the Civic worth getting compared with the new City in terms of overall performance, feel and looks?

The extra $$ worth the upgrade?

Gong Xi Fat Chai!
*
Do also bear in mind that there'll be a new facelifted Civic in a couple of months. Was informed of this by my SA... They also expect the price to go up in the range of RM3-5k, based on previous experience.

Clocked up about 800 km on my new baby already, and this is what I have to report on my car...

1. Fuel consumption - City driving = 11.2km/L... Highway driving = 15.3km/L. The best I could manage was 17.1km/L at one point. hehe..

2. Ride is a little too bumpy for my liking, but car feels quite stable when taking sharp corners at speed.

3. The rubber lining outside the car at the top my front windscreen is coming off, i just noticed it a while ago. Managed to fiddle with it a little and tuck it back in. Will complain to my SA.

4. Engine seems is quite noisy, not sure if its because the engine hasn't "break in", or poor sound dampening. Engine is quite silent if u tap gently on your accelerator/at lower speeds, but when you try to overtake or when you climb steep hills, the engine sound becomes very obvious.

5. No complaints on the cooling of the air-conditioning - yes it still can't beat my old Wira in terms of cooling effect, but its good enough for me. And yes, as chris_x mentioned, yes, its a little loud at 3rd / 4th speed.

6. I'm not sure if my alarm is working. Will have to check with technician / SA. I've tried doing what tai kor andyjyneo suggested - i.e; sit in the car, activate alarm and start moving - I can't seem to hear anything... Or is it the alarm is too soft to be heard?!? blink.gif

7. In D mode, gear response is pretty satisfactory.

8. In S mode, there seems to be a slight time lag when using the paddle shifters. It takes maybe 1-2 secs before u feel the gears change.

9. Agreed with tillerman - the rear and front driving view is hard to judge despite a week driving my car.

10. I went to quickly check my bumper after reading bro chris_x's comment on his slipped bumper - it's still pretty much in tact, thank god.!

QUOTE(tillerman @ Jan 28 2009, 12:12 AM)
My question and opinion:

- What is the total range you can go for one full tank pump? How much is your one fuel tank pump?
- Anyone have the best way to have highest FC? I was wondering that is NHC possible to beat to beat IDSI which make record of 26.9KM/L? If it isn't, it should at least make it to near 21km/l to 24km/l
- Sharp corner is stable!
- The rubber lining is peeling off too. I forgot to state this just now. Will complain to my SA too sad.gif
- Honda website and advertisement promises better aircond feature such as quietness and faster cooling compare to previous gen, but doesn't sound promising. No matter how will complain to my SA.
- For the alarm you have to wait for a momeny till it be initiated 10 to 15 seconds, then you will find it working. No matter how soft it was when u stand outside of the car or sitting inside this car you will still hear it.
- Wonder if anyone facing problem when driving up to hill when. When you stop your car up toward a hill, which your car is narrow up, in D mode gear, anyone car start dropping back? Heard from one of my friend having this problem. So far I just tested in normal hill not those Genting type. Heard that this is because NHC is too heavy 1140 for S spec and 1160kg for E spec.
- S mode eat up a lot of fuel. Lagging for 1 seconds will take, may be this is because of DBW tech???
- Yes rear and front is really crazy man!! Possible if can get front sensor will be good : ) but still we have to wait till warranty is over.

*
- Total range since my last full tank refuel is already 480km, still got a bit of fuel inside, so i think topping 500 shouldn't be a prob.!! My last refuel was RM65... I just pumped first, didn't wait for the indicator light to come on..
- I think for FC, a lot also depends on your driving habits. Try not having jackrabbit starts at traffic lights, but instead try to gently tap on your accelerator and ensure smooth and gradual pick up. Travelling at high speeds also do not help your FC, as there is greater wind resistance to overcome.
- Going up hill, i haven't experienced having my car dropping back, or maybe I didn't notice it. Will look out for it the next time. However, i also noticed that the RPM is not stable whilst going up steep hills.
- S mode eating up a lot of fuel? Not too sure about that... Whilst in S mode i try not to rev my engine to >3k RPM, cos the engine's still new. Correspondingly, the fuel consumption indicator shows that my consumption in S mode is in the range of 14-16km/L when i engaged in S mode.
- I think by the time you wait till your warranty period is over, you should be able to estimate your car's front + back dimension's pretty well.! hehe

with S mode you can still runing with 14-16km/l? what is your speed?
After warranty is too long to really estimate my car front and rear.
*
Was driving on a busy + narrow road, so couldn't do too fast a speed... I think around 60km/h??

QUOTE(D'stalker @ Jan 28 2009, 09:21 PM)
Hi,

I'm a newcomer to this forum and yes a NHC user. Just got the baby E-SPEC PMM colored last week, now already clocked more than 1400km, with driving 70% highway, 30% city/rural. My findings:

1. Suspension is quite hard/stiff & at rear can feel quite bumpy.

2. The highest FC I got as in the VID is 18.5km/l, the lowest is around 11km/l, with max speed 120-130km/hr.

3. The range info which tell u how far more the can go before the tank emptied is quite misleading. I had my fuel indicator light appeared at the range around 80km. In the manual, it stated that when the fuel indicator appear, you shall have around 6-7 litres left in the tank. When the range goes down to 30km, my 5km trip to the petrol station saw the range figure drop from 30km to 10km. And when refuel, it takes me around 33 liters to full it up. Very confusing. Sure gonna ask at 1st service (yes, belum service lagi....)

4. FC i think quite good. After a distance of 497km, it takes me RM58 @ 32.3ltr to refill back the tank. Mind you if the tank truly of 42ltr max, then I still have at least 9 liters left before refuel. So I think 600km for a full tank is not impossible.

5. 95% I stay in D mode. Once in a while in highway I downshift (but still in D mode) to overtake. When you you downshift, there is delay around 1 sec before you feel the changes.

Haven't done my 1st service due to CNY leave. But has confirmed with my SA that it's OK as they are not gonna do any part replacement (oil/filter etc) at 1st service. Just inspection only.

As for now, I'm quite happy this new car....
*
Yeah, with regards to point no 3., I experienced the same just this evening. When I drove my car to work this morning and parked my car the range was approx 53km... But when I left for lunch this afternoon, the range reading was only about 27km when i started the engine... rclxub.gif I figured I would have enough petrol to take me to lunch and back... But after a 1-2 km journey, the range figure dropped very quickly to 17km... shakehead.gif After that I quickly look for a petrol station to refuel, just in case it drops even further and leaving me with no fuel in my new car... sweat.gif

Mind you, after I saw the range figure dropping so quickly I got a bit scared and drove very very slowly to minimise FC.... blink.gif

Hmm.. On 2nd thought, actually why don't you try the KTM komuter - goes direct to Midvalley...

I guess there might be slight inconveniences, but if cost is an issue...

Mine's always been in the range of 13.5-15 km/L so far...

Assuming 14km/L, its about 12.8 sen per km.

NHC owners...can u oso post about the car's handling when crusing >110km/h ? floaty at wat speed onward ?
*
Haven't really pushed my car, but fastest I've done is 100-110km/h as the engine is still new. At that speed handling is still quite good.

I did say proper car wash. There are a few inexpensive car wash out there that use proper microfiber cloth to wipe your car. Car smell is unavoidable. Anyway, it's a lot of work to wash the car yourself esp OMG the car rims! Unless you really the patient type that is willing to spend hours and hours once every week to make the car glitter, it's still the easiest solution out there wink.gif
*
Out of curiosity, where do you go for your regular car washes bro?

Got any good "proper" car wash places to recommend??

There's on in damansara perdana that I go to, the cloth they use is those microfiber type and they rotate the cloth quite often. You can recognise the store because it's the only one that has a series of mirrors to reflect the car.

Shah Alam Glenmarie Industrial estate also has a good car wash center, but the cloth not so clean. Still they are very thorough in cleaning so I can live with that.

If you want better ones, refer to this thread:

Thanks a lot.! This should come in handy for the rest of this thread followers... The car washes i previously frequented were those roadside ones! sad.gif
