IMHO, I think alot of people are experiencing this sort of problem 'cos they 'expect' the car to be perfect. I noticed the NVH for both the Honda City and Jazz using the L15A engine to be a little harsh. In terms of gear change, since we are so used to the CVT box.. now that you can 'feel' the change, alot of ppl say that's no good. I do agree that there are still a little niggle and bumps (ie. peeling rubber strips, door padding got gap etc).. but I guess no car's perfect. The 8G Civic has sh|t loads of problems initially, but still heaps load of ppl have bought it. The same will go with this City. At the end of the day, there will still be grievances...but I think we'll be able to live with it.

I don't think you should let those little niggles and bumps affect your decision.
As said earlier, even the final model of the Honda City (2G) before the 3G was launched would've issues which were ultimately not ironed out.
Looking at the response, none of these are terminal to the car. I'm pretty sure it'll be rectified, even if you have to send it back to HM. Im sure they won't charge you.

I would think the "build quality" was better in the 2G 'cos it was a "phasing out" model. Usually those model are like the final version. As with new models or software, you have v1.0, v1.1 & v1.2 etc. The same goes with this. I bet the earlier models had niggles and bumps, and tons of ppl have complained about it.. but eventually the car company would've rectified this. Look at the Proton Wira SE..damn that car's a tank, reliable as hell and had minimal problems..
Right now by purchasing the NHC, you are indeed paying a premium on a totally new design. And of course new things might not come out as perfect as you want it (I've got more analogies...hehe). If you wanna be safe, wait for at least 6 months when feedbacks come trickling in and HM takes action.

Just to recap a bit of what sysh has pointed out, to all potential / future NHC owners...
Just my two cents on the quality issue, without wearing my NHC tinted glasses on the matter...
I guess purchasing a newly launched model for any car involves risks that there may be some quality issues, its a simple fact that most would acknowledge. Now, I'm trying to be unbiased as possible in offering my opinion here on the NHC..
I think that the response towards the new car has been relatively good, considering the current economic climate. I guess that just goes to show the confidence that consumers have in the Honda brandname which has been built up over the years. For one, I'm confident that the reputation Honda has made for itself down the years is something which it does its best to defend, at all times. A damaged reputation does no good for the company, as a lost sale today may mean plenty of lost sales down the years - you're potentially losing out on a loyal Honda customer for years to come!
I guess, no matter how stringent a quality control procedure is, it is never perfect. There are bound to be little niggles and problems which will surface, especially even more so when its a new model - it is through customer feedback that the QC procedures are tightened + perfected and whateverproblems that may arise are ironed out by Honda on the production and assembly line. I guess thats why the later batches have less issues and so forth.. But even then, who's to say purchasing a later batch guarantees you a niggle-free car?
I think its quite safe to say the robots and machines used in assembly and production do not have 100% precision or accuracy... perhaps it can be 99%, 99.9%, or even 99.9999% accurate but 100%? I highly doubt so... And bear in mind humans are involved in the assembly and production as well, so there will always be the "human error" factor.. I believe the same to be true for most (if not all) other car manufacturers out there in this world!! All the possible imperfections - that's what the warranty is for! The warranty is an assurance and a sign of confidence by Honda in its products, that it is the best possible quality they can offer, failing which, they will replace the offending part or rectify the problem for free. I don't think they're stupid to give us low quality/problematic cars on purpose, only to find that they have to expend extra effort, labour, resources etc on rectifying problems in our cars in time to come.!!!
I am sure that whatever little niggles we are encountering now as the first batch owners, lets give Honda the benefit of time to identify whatever issues there may be in the NHC and sort it out for us. In the meantime, as early buyers of the NHC, there's always the warranty which we can fall back on.
I feel that so far, most of the problems discussed here are 1) Are mostly small niggles and bumps.. As mentioned above by sysh, none of the issues have been terminal to the car, nor unresolvable... 2) are due to overly high expectations of a perfect car (which I am guilty of too!!) - whilst I think we have a right to complain and have high expectations of our purchase, I think we also have to remember that its an entry level Honda car, so we can't expect Ferrari-like performance from the NHC..!
