Oh hey, thanks for responding. So there is indeed treatment albeit it sounds really painful. I'm picturing bracers but for the bones. I guess this is a case of suffer now (short while) rather than suffer long term 30-40 years later ya?

yes there is a brace you can wrap around your body, but it costs rm12k so the chiro only recommends it for ppl with over 30degrees tongue.gif

oh well. every cloud has a silver lining. scoliosis patients are medically discouraged from doing push ups and sit ups now, or carry heavy objects. ohohohohoho brows.gif

As you are practicing in Malaysia and as per Ministry of Health regulations regarding this matter:

Why do you still use the "Dr" title in front of your name (as seen in the website above)?

Did you remind your patient not to call you "Dr" as it will create confusion?
*
You'll be surprised with the misuse of the "Dr".

I met someone recently, and he calls himself "Dr". So I asked him, are you a medical doctor or a doctorate? He said " I'm a nutritionist!" rclxms.gif

Seems like it's a good way of avoiding the odd jobs right? I'm sure you're good at commanding people around then.. "Hey move this object here, and there!" How bad is your scoliosis anyway? In degree terms.. smile.gif

I got so several injuries due to extreme sports. I have injuries at several areas such as left ankle, both side of knees, right wrist, neck, left shoulder and fingers. Lately I start to feel my spine is a bit misalignment maybe because of too much extreme sliding when playing Paintball or maybe it happened since I had ankle injury since 2 years ago (latest). So, when I was tempang, I walk a bit senget to reduce the pain for about many months. Maybe, this is also a factor. I’m not too sure because I’m not a doctor. From my history, I rarely go see the doctor even I had the injury.

I was wondering is chiropractor can help to fix my problem. Let say if my backbone is senget, after doing the adjustment, can I become taller? You know when the backhone is senget, sure the height become less than the original position.

Scoliosis will be long term care. The session is not painful, however there is some discomfort when we adjust the bones

I have a question, does the Malaysian Ministry of Health allows the "Doctor" title to be used by chiropractors in Malaysia?

I have the following arguments regarding this matter that needs to explained:
I quote -
- source: http://medicine.com.my/2004_10_01_mmrarchive.html
I quote from MMC:
Malaysian Medical Council: http://mmc.gov.my/v1/docs/2008(15).pdf (Click it)
I quote again:
The New Zealand Medical Journal: Doctor Who? Inappropriate use of titles by some alternative “medicine” practitioners

Any chiropractors around? please explain.

What do you call people who have PhDs? Fake doctors?

A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is not the same as a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) which is also not the same as a Medical Doctor (MD)

DC (Doctor of Chiropractic ) is a degree offered in USA, and Canada.

There are many types of Doctors. MD is not the only Doctor. Malaysians are educated and brainwashed to believe that Doctor's must give medicines, which is totally wrong.

There are ND (Naturopathic doctor), DPT (Doctor of Physiotherapy), DO (Doctor of Osteopath), DC (Doctor of Chiropractic), DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery).....etc

What is the definitoin of Doctor? Somebody who can make diagnosis and decide on the course of treatment.

Chiropractor's are definitely not fake doctors. However, a real chiropractor must be educated in USA, Canada, Australia, SOuth Africa, Europe.. CCE accredited chiropractic schools. In USA, there are 70000 doctor of chiropractics. in Canada, there is 10000.

We are totally qualified and recognized as Doctors in USA, Australia, and Canada.

The term Doctor is applied to a medical doctor (holder of an MBBS or equivalent qualification) or a phD doctor. Practitioners of "alternative medicine" be they chiropractors, sinsehs, bomohs, auyervedics and what-not should not use the title "Doctor" as this would mislead the public into thinking they have undergone mainstream medical training and have an MBBS qualification.

Going against the law?? I am not sure what you are talking about. No one here is going against the law. When we practice in Malaysia, we follow the MOH guideline here. In USA, the same.

Added on May 4, 2010, 9:08 pmA foreign chiropractor coming to Malaysia to practise must be registered with the Ministry of Health, and we must have all the right qualification in order to register. Once we have the approval letter from the MOH, only the work permit will be given by the immigration.

Against the law? when you are working in this country without a work permit, that's against the law!

See this as well, perhaps you will come to understand:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NBxShj_MEg

Daniel David Palmer (Founder of Chiropractic) says and I quote:

"A subluxated vertebra . . . is the cause of 95 percent of all diseases. . . . The other five percent is caused by displaced joints other than those of the vertebral column." - (From: Palmer D.D. The Science, Art and Philosophy of Chiropractic. Portland, Oregon: Portland Printing House Company, 1910.)

... That is of course is stupid~
