I never heard of any Taiwan chiropractor in Malaysia. He is most likely a Chinese sensai.

Chiropractors are all registered with the Ministry of Health. He is apparently not listed.

The free consultation, anybody tried that before? Testing and touching involve? Thinking of going just for the sake of checking whether my bones are ok or not...
I do have backache sometimes.

Yes, I've tried that before.

i heard that a good chiropractor should only works using thier hands but not relying on those hi tech machines?
i have not been to one before but i thought that i want to bring my dad for consultation.. he has been having neck and shoulder pain for ages and it has turn into chronic pain now.. as it disturbs him from sleeping properly.

can someone (esp to the chiropractor) advise me which is the best doc in kl? and usually how many treatment is necessary in adjusting it? the reason why is we are not based in kl.. and im actually from london (just back in malaysia for few weeks holiday) but my dad is living in malaysia.

is the adjustment will be done during the first visit? and any xray is required?
oh btw he is having a mild hypertension (130/90)

thank you so much in advance for your kind reply.

Actually my problem is backache when I was sleeping till I woke up.. but maybe it's my mattress. Maybe should shop for a new mattress first before going to the chiropractor. Wonders if can claim company insurance for that or not..

I have a question, does the Malaysian Ministry of Health allows the "Doctor" title to be used by chiropractors in Malaysia?

I have the following arguments regarding this matter that needs to explained:

I quote -
QUOTE
The term Doctor is applied to a medical doctor (holder of an MBBS or equivalent qualification) or a phD doctor. Practitioners of "alternative medicine" be they chiropractors, sinsehs, bomohs, auyervedics and what-not should not use the title "Doctor" as this would mislead the public into thinking they have undergone mainstream medical training and have an MBBS qualification.
- source: http://medicine.com.my/2004_10_01_mmrarchive.html

I quote from MMC:
QUOTE

profesion-profesion lain

I quote again:

QUOTE
Gilbey finds that the abuse of the title doctor is widespread and that chiropractors are the main culprits. An amazing 82% of 146 chiropractics used the title Doctor, andL most of them used the title to imply falsely that they were registered medical practitioners.

yup spend alot of $$$ sad.gif no buying shoes for awhile sad.gif

what's ur sleeping position? if u sleep on ur back, then best to put a small pillow under the small of your back (your lower spine area). if you sleep on you side, then put a pillow or bolster between your legs.

i agree though, unless u're in a whole lot of pain, then don't bother with a chiro la smile.gif my back pain for 5 years only i took the effort to go see doc tongue.gif

There are two types of chiropractors: 1) straight- only uses hand to adjust, philosophy is based on the same philosophy 100 years ago. They are subluxation based 2) mixer- not only using hands but also technologies and other deciplines of health care such as acupuncture, nutrition, herbology....etc. They are clinical based

In USA, Canada, more and more chiropractors are turning into mixer kinds. Just like other healthcare deciplines, chiropractors also evolve into more technological based. Myself I graduated from a Mixer-based school (National University of Health Sciences), and we are used to work side-by-side with medical doctors and other healthcare practitioners..

It is not necessarily true that "GOOD CHIROPRACTOR ONLY WORKS WITH THEIR HANDS". I would rather trust someone who can evolve over time and not sticking with the old rules and philosophy.

You may come to my place for a consultation free of charge. We only start charging when you decided to use our service.

X-ray is not required for the first time, but will refer you out for one if needed. Adjustment will be delivered in the first visit.

Ministry of Health Malaysia certainty don't allow chiropractors to put "DR." title in front of their names.

However, in USA, Canada, Australia, UK..etc. Most countries which recognizes chiropractors do allow the title "DR."

I had severe backache before. A friend recommend me to a blind man who operate blind massage centre at Pertama Complex. Been there for three times, and each visit I was charged RM45 per hour. But 1 hour massage was enough for each visit. I also bought massage chair for my use at home. Now my pain is gone. And I don't know to whom I should thanked to - the blind man or the massage chair. Or maybe I should thanked both wink.gif

As you are practicing in Malaysia and as per Ministry of Health regulations regarding this matter:

Why do you still use the "Dr" title in front of your name (as seen in the website above)?

Did you remind your patient not to call you "Dr" as it will create confusion?

My degree is obtained from USA as "Doctor of Chiropractic". I am using Dr. here simply because of the degree and most my patients although knowing MOH Malaysia don't recognize chiropractors as Dr., but they know we are legal Dr. in USA and Canada.

In Malaysia, only MD's are called Drs. It is biased.

I do know of one in Phileo Damansara. She was a kind and gentle lady. I only went for one visit. On the assumption she's still there, I might be able to retrieve the contact. Would you be interested in it? Shoot me a PM

@map, bear in mind that I have absolutely zero knowledge in medicine what more regarding the human spine, but from my experience with the people whom I personally know, scoliosis is something which patients should not joke around. Even if it costs an arm and a leg, I believe treatment is a necessity. Why do I say that? Because I know of a sweet old lady whom also suffers from scoliosis. Her condition is so bad that in about 2 to 3 years time, she will be wheelchair bound, unable to walk for the remaining years of her life.

Therefore if there is any chance to correct the unnatural growth of the spine, I do suggest it be done quickly in order not to end up wheelchair bound.

Tatsumaki, thanks. tongue.gif

I went to see my family MD with my xrays and funny enough he says that the chiropractors can't do anything about scoliosis except go for surgery and shave off a bone to release the pressure/pain.

To his credit, my chiro also says that the most effective way to treat scoliosis (for a person my age) is to shove a metal rod up my spine. Like what you said, he also warned me that if I kept applying pressure to my spine, it'll only get worse. -,-

I agree, scoliosis is serious business.
