Just did a survey through lowyat forum, looks like the Nokia 5800 XM has some serious issues out there, actually I'm planning to COD with a seller on tomorrow, but after I knew the issue about this phone, it really holding me back from buying this phone, so can any professional advise me on should I buy it now or not? If more than 5 persons here says don't buy right now then I'll straight away cancel the order and wait, of course if more than 5 persons support then I won't cancel the deal, please some pros reply me immediately as I'll buying this phone on tomorrow. Thanks in advance nod.gif

PS: I won't change my mind in changing my current phone to Nokia 5800 XM, just the 'TIMING'.

We respect your comments pal.  smile.gif  But it won't be exciting if we have two threads for our beloved tube. That is why the role of the threadstarter is very important, for him or her to take note of the important info being posted and pinning it to the first page. We cannot really prevent the kopitiam comments because there is just so much love  wub.gif and hate  vmad.gif for this phone! Cheers!  thumbup.gif

With regards to your youtube problem, as and when we find any solution, we will pin it to first page or maybe PM you. Will that be okay? (Nyahaha, sound like customer service)  sweat.gif

More than enough, actually biggrin.gif Really appreciate your reply. Anyways, pana mentioned smth about a hard reset. Is it the same as a soft reset (*#7370#) ? If it is so, it still hasn't solved my problem yet. sad.gif

EDIT: Did some googling, but i can barely understand the tech jargons used. Here's what i found so far:

http://www.p1iblog.com/2007/10/wlan-cannot...tube-clips.html

Someone sift through and translate to plain english, please?

I guess most of the users that have bought the phone should have their review on the phone's battery life?xP

So..comment's on the battery life..it'll be nice to know few type of users:
EDIT:
According to Nokia..5800 standby time is 406hrs

Thanks for the supporter, but I just received a call from the seller about the raised price of the phone, he said the price already raised up to at least RM1400 with limited stock and RM1450 for new stock, so I'll reconsidering it and I may disappointing you all. notworthy.gif

i wish they can create one where it will auto silence your phone if your calendar has an event / meeting scheduled

an answer to madman on battery life, if you are heavy user (especially surfing the web and blasting music through the speakers), battery life span will be like a day
if it's average users (some web surfing, music listening through earphones, pc suite syncing etc), about 2 days
below average, no idea for the moment, may last to about 3-4 days or more depending on usage

It's more like a survey..I think I'm categorized in average..battery lasted me 2 days (Last charge on Sunday) and today down to 1 bar..but I'm gonna use it till it drains out though..and have a 2nd charge

Its quite amusing, but only to a certain extent. I'd recommend another spam thread for those "wah! posion!" comments and another for informative posts such as themes and apps, and also unofficial tech support. If not its practically impossible to get any proper replies to questions. Like mah youtube question, instantly got flooded away by spam comments.

Anyway, i digress. Mah youtube still refuses to work. Do i need to get any third party program or smth?

mate, about your two questions,

msn - i'd recommend you try Slick from Lonely Cat Games. it works like a charm on my phone.

mTube - have you get your GPRS/3G setting set?

I'm using WiFi, by the way. I've managed to make it work via "View desktop version". I suppose its due to the Flash player used as opposed to the RealPlayer the phone uses to play m.youtube.com vids. About the RealPlayer one, google has yielded some rather interesting results.

Some say its a router problem, as proven by accessing from different points with different brands of routers, supposedly due to some rtsp feature. Others say it could be some setting in RealPlayer itself, but details are sketchy. Still, im rather disappointed with the outcome as Nokia could have done a better job on this.

Anyway, under my Internet tab (Menu > Internet), there's Facebook. Is it a Nokia app or is it added there by some other means? If so, is it possible that Nokia may release a dedicated Youtube app like what Apple did?

EDIT: How do i ensure that there are no data transferred via 3G/EDGE? There's "3G" under my signal strength bar, but it could be an indication that 3G is available, no? My mom would skin me alive if bills skyrocketed.
