On an average, what's the price for a complete alteration for a shirt? Im wondering whether it is worth it to buy the out of season 70% discount shirts and tailor them to my size. So assuming its a full alteration, body and sleeves, how much?

Hi All,

Would really appreciate the advice on buying a suit(blazer+pants).

I'm a big size person. What's the range of price i should be looking at? and the locations if possible (I'm based at KL)

last time, i bought 1 pair (blazer+ pants) at Jaya Jusco..ready made... cost my around RM700+- from one of the brands (John Master i think).

Thanks a bunch.

Save up more get a suit from Marks and Spencer at KLCC. Seems like most of the other branches does not keep suits already. Definitely will cost you more than RM1000. Average coat price is RM499-799 and pants is RM199-399. Why choose them? They are the only cheap brand in KL that offers short, regular and tall fitting suits. So you can look at yourself in mirror and see how u want to look. Only very expensive designer brands have such sizes. For me i'm big guy also. My suit size is 46R regular or 46S if i want to look taller. UK 44 is supposed to be XL and 46 is XXL. I saw they have up to 48 which is XXXL. If US size i'm wearing 54R. Never tried 54S before.

Did you buy from Mark & Spencer? When you buy bigger size suit, will the length of sleeve be too long? If yes, if it possible to be tailored?

Can the sleeve length of RTW suit jacket that comes with non working surgeon cuff buttons be shorten? I found that Marks & Spencer suit has my size but the sleeves are a bit too long

if yes, which recommended tailor that can do a good altering job without damaging the suit?

Of course. They have been around since the 80s'. They used be be at Menara Armada (AsiaJaya) and used to advertise every day in The old Malay Mail paper. And they used to advertise RM280 for a full poly suit. But that was back in the 80s. Used to pass by that shop during that time when i was a kid. I would not remember who runs the shop and what quality they have other than their shop name. But their current place at Amcorp seems to indicate they focus on ready to wear. But inside Amcorp there are at least 4 tailor shops there. So you could ask around for your needs and prices.
