Yesterday, bought Bendix titanium stripe General CT(1 for my Persona, another set for Waja)...Before i have replaced the oem bosch pad with FeRoDo, not really satisfied with it..see post below
mileage/usage: 0-10k km (6months) product: Bosch brake pad..proton genuine oem pad mileage/usage:10-20k km(8months) product: FeRoDo Zero comments: - exhibit some noise, screeching noise ... - it tends to get overheat, during downhill braking(Genting, balik pulau or spirit driving). Metal burning smells..YEAKKSS..It does not like high temperature as advertised, real disappointed. - not really peform during cold, it is slightly better under hard braking - the worst is the edge tear off piece by piece, a) FeRoDo Zero and BenDix Titanium stripe.. ![]() b) A fresh brake pad should have 0.9-1cm thickness. ![]() c) FeRoDo Zero, still have 65% thickness, equivalent to ~6cm after doing 10k km... ![]() ![]() d) Edge tear off .. ![]() ![]() ![]() Yesterday bought two set of BenDix CT General, one for Waja..one for my PerSona. mileage/usage: 20kkm - current product: BenDix CT General(metal king has been discontinued) Already clocked 200KM so far, no need bedding in as advertised. |

I had the brake pedal adjust tighter but cannot too tight..month end CNY or next month Thaipusam, i go Genting try again..hehe |

QUOTE(ychwang @ Jan 14 2009, 02:25 PM) hi, i just hit 5k millege now, and the disc brake also skim before. Now the braking sound still presist despite i had go service it 2days ago. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/903569The mechanic told me i need to change my brakepad whenever the disc brake is being skim. Any nice brakepad to recomend? I dun wanna use back original brakepad as it produce a lot of habuk and cause my front rim very dirty. Since yours only 5k km, disc and rotors shouldn't be the cause. Disc brake i think can skim only twice, after that can throw away dee.. By skimming, the disc rotors thickness has been reduced, if it is lower than minimum thickness allow or the disc has been at minium thickness.. it can reduce braking efficiency because of it cannot dissipate heat faster, thinner than specified disc rotors can cause the rotor to warp. It may cause leaking too because of the piston at caliper push outward too much.. Usually, after skimming, it is adviseable to replace with new pad. But if you insist not to replace, still can use because after bedding in and rubbing, the pad can 'match' the disc.. I think Proton shall replace us with a replacement unit ler...mine also same, scraping noise. But now using 3rd set of new pad, BenDix General CT..so far i can't heard any noise This post has been edited by ralf: Jan 14 2009, 05:20 PM |

Car loan interest rate is fixed. It doesn't matter bank negara announced reduction in interest rate...so, my advise is put more downpayment if you can afford.
Maybe potential buyer can on hold their purchase first, let's wait for this coming weeks(after CNY). See what Proton response to loan interest rate..no hurry since economic has slump, lead time shouldn't be too long. I read from MTM forum, Persona brake servo is smaller that caused spongy brake. Gen2 has bigger master brake pump..if it can fit, i think i am going to buy G2 master brake pump and replaced the current 1. Such a heavy car, 12xxkg with small brake servo..Waalao eh Proton |

No la, not 15litres backup, most probably 5litres only.
Mine can go 250-280km, 100% penang town driving(fuel warning already kick in), when this light is on, only 50km left. First batch owner like us have to live with small tank.. |

I think it is fuel filler neck problem, unable to fully pump petrol, the gauge still show 1bar less ...
Added on January 31, 2009, 11:32 amyesterday noon i pump full tank. Midnite travel at highway. travel route: 90% North south highway + 10% penang town driving..all the way no traffic jam total distance: 137.8 km FC meter shows 8.5L/100km est. fuel consumpt: 0.153cents per km today morning i go and pump full tank again, pump stop at rm23, managed to put in rm24.52...That calculated into real test figure 0.1669 - 0.1779 cents per km. seems like the case above is "human error' which delayed in the process, they could have rectified the problem earlier if check properly.
For me, Proton service center provide plenty of opportunities for young fresh grad. It is ok for them to do the minor servicing work... Mine case, after service, the mechanic forgot to tighten back the Brake fluid cap Added on February 12, 2009, 2:26 pm QUOTE(laytiong @ Feb 12 2009, 09:57 AM) drgnkid: ask SC to remove front lower arm nuts and grease them. tighten all lower chassis bolts and nuts ok, will ask them to try it for upcoming service.i had a knocking sound from both front suspension and that did the trick. must tighten all including cross member and kingpin bolts. i'm driving waja CPS. QUOTE(onlyforthecars @ Feb 12 2009, 09:00 AM) Yeah super serious case of bad workmanship...usually when i put in my car, they will ask me to come back in 3-4 hours. And sometimes when i hang around in the workshop, they will ask me to wait in the lobby. So i always put my car then and go for a drink or something lor...by the way the lousy SC is a dealer, not a branch...So the lesson i learnt is to never go to dealers...Any of you go to dealers for service? It is for your own good and safety. Can ah? i actually feel like calling them up and telling them off...but dunno whether got any good outcome or not If you have come accross some mechanic drive like maniac, bang here and there..you will know what i mean. Prove?? My car in PESC being bang backside |
