hi Carmein,

Wow ! awesome! thank for the sharing. i think we not able to visit as many places as u , only have 5 days there and only 2 of us. We transfer straight to Melbourne after GC. Bside,we bought some dinners coupon @ groupon too. how the weather now? sunbathing? next month winter!freezing :s

- how the paradise country farm to u? if this ok, we will skip the currumbin too...
-will get the go card & bus route map ! thank for the tips smile.gif
-then probably will skip the night market if it's not happening, it's freezing somemore...
- how long time spend in movieland? one day?
-i was planning not to do any shopping on this trip (i'm a real oversea-shoppe-manic) , but since u saying it's a lot cheaper ($10 for 4 !!!) , urggghh.. neeed to re-planning the budget again...

P/s : i will have to print out ur summary to re-itinery our trip tongue.gif

thank you so much biggrin.gif

It's already winter when I was there last week, but still there were some people sunbathing as it was quite warm that day. Probably around 16-18 degree. The wind was blowing madly at night!

-Paradise Country Farm is alright for me though it is much smaller than Currumbin. Plus, the admission is a little cheaper and nearer to SP. Im actually alright for both as long as I can see koalas and kangaroos.
-Definitely should get the card! It will save much hassle from paying cash to the bus driver! Plus it is a little cheaper by Go Card. smile.gif
-I spent the whole day literally. (From 10.30 am until 5 pm). Souvenir shops and restaurant (Gotham City cafe!) will close as early as 4.30pm! Erm.. probably because the weather was a little disappointing. Basically, you can just buy the ticket at the entrance cuz there wont't be any queue at all! i went there on Saturday. There will be a surcharge if you pay by credit card.
-Yup, shopping is cheap! Only to certain brands. Haha, my friend bought a Polo tee for $49.99 and Lacoste tee around that price too from Harbour Town. :0)

thanks for the sharing, though it's rather subjective, but how cold was it over there during your stay? it's winter! my friend was there, too, last week and she was wearing 3-4 layers of clothing at any one time?  blink.gif $200 for groceries were a lot! it's only 2 of us, and we're gonna be dishing it out to save our expenses, too, it's gonna be fun in the kitchen, i bet, LOL. by the way, you got wine, but how about champagne? as for the shopping in Harbor Town, branded stuff, or what? where do we get this Translink Bus Route Map that you mentioned about? why didn't you opt to drive around, instead?
we're taking the currumbin 4-in-1 pass, which include some kinda eco challenge thing; pretty exciting, i guess?! i think i read it some where that there is currently a festival going-on in surfers paradise, how can it be not happening? smile.gif
*
-It was not that cold for me. I only wore a tank top plus a hoodie. Haha.
-$200 is the maximum, probably we only spent around $120-$150. Im just budgeting a little extra. It will be much cheaper for 2 person! Probably around $100 is enough! Cooking own dinner and breakfast is the best way for saving some expenses! If you are on tight budget, bring a tupperware so that you can cook and pack own lunch! I never thought of it for myself at first!
-Not really sure about champagne, bought our wine only cost around $10, we bought the $5 but it tasted blah.
-There are lotsa brand in Harbour Town: Nike, Adidas, Levi's,..those are warehouse outlets where sometimes you can get really good deals like I did! I saw the latest Nike running shoes for $110, it is around RM 30-50 cheaper than in Malaysia.
-You can get the broucher from the Airport. Lotsa brouchers available.
-I actually booked a car from the East Coast Car Rental for Currumbin on the last day before driving straight to the airport. They called me up a week before arrival and asked for confirmation. Since we were left cashless and decided not to go to Currumbin, we nv hired the car. smile.gif Plus, if you think of driving to Brisbane, it will be good too. But we decided to save some cash by taking the train instead. ;)Parking is kinda expensive.

People there are really friendly! There were a few times where we were approached by the people asking if we needed help.
Also on the last day, a taxi driver offered us a ride to the airport (3 of us) for only $15! The bus ride will cost $27!

hi there..
i just went to GC form 19-26 may....

to me, i prefer currumbin... u get to see more kangaroos there then paradise...
to me, paradise is simple compared to currumbin. its individual thingie....
but i enjoyed currumbin more cos i bought with the dinner at night - the aborigine show - yanguwah.
it was an eye opener...more expensive but to me definitely worth it.. smile.gif

plus we bought all our tickets online - so we had extra 5% discount.....all u got to do is print the tickets out and u are good to go smile.gif

hi.i'll be going to GC this coming sept. I was thinking of booking the tours online (but kinda scared...what if those companies don't exist?) Found one website www.experienceoz.com.au.

1) Has anyone use them before?
Is it better to buy online before i go there or buy over there?

2)is it worth going to the theme parks? (similar or not to singapore universal studio?)

Was planning on visiting these places/activities
-currumbin + yanguwah
-whale watching
-q1 skyscrapper
-outback shows
-scuba/snorkel
-shopping

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

There are some good places where you can stay during your visit at there. I stayed in Watermark Hotel and found that this was a superb hotel really worth the money and the package I took. the only thing was I got 2 queen size bed on my honeymoon. this was done by Air Asia which I didn’t know until I was there. no a big deal as I wan able to change to king size and just add about rm300 more. but was worth it.

was coming back from GC last 2 weeks for a 4 days trip only. Stay in Chateau Beachside Resort in Surfers Paradise. The beach just there. The sound of waves all the times. Excellent theme parks... Went to Movieland, Seaworld, Country Paradise, drop by wet' n wild... have no extra time to visit other places as the theme park already occupied most f it.

Cheap room available from 3rd December 2012 to 14th February 2013

- AUD$90 per week
- 7 minute walk to train station, 3 minute walk to bus stops.
- close to Coles, and parks.
- fully furnished room
- rent include all bills (water, electric, gas, and wifi)
- females only, like tidiness

Hi, my name is Ally and I will be leaving Brisbane on the 2nd December and will be back around 18th/19th February 2013. And I am hoping to find a female to take over my place while I am away. We can discuss the dates for you to move in or move out.

The house is located in Sunnybank Hills, 7 minute walk away from Banoon train station. You only have to spend 30 minutes train ride to get to the city, or 15 minutes to get to Dutton Park train station. A big bonus is that from 8th October 2012 onwards, Ferny Groove and Beenleigh train services will increase during off peak hour (9 am till 3.30 pm). Trains will arrive at platform every 15 minutes. There are many bus stops around this area, but the closest one is only three minute walk from the house. All tenants are female except the house owner, who is a male pensioner.

This room is fully furnished with a desk, cupboard, wardrobe, single bed with pillow, blankets and linens, and a bedside desk. The room is well lit with a fluorescent bulb and that is why there is no need for a table lamp. There are sockets next to the table and another next to the bed, and extensions are available too. You will have to share the bathroom with another female tenant and you will also have your own space in the food cabinet and refrigerator. The rent is $90 per week and utilities (water, electricity, gas and high speed internet) are included. If you are staying from 3rd December 2012 to 14th February 2013, you only have to pay for 10 weeks' rent (ie $900 dollars throughout your stay here).

The house has a lovely dining area, cosy kitchen and a living room with a large television. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave oven, stove, toaster, toaster oven, and oven. All culinary tools are provided. The house owner is a male pensioner, very friendly, patient and honest. He speaks English only and it will be a good opportunity for those who want to improve their English. Please be aware that there is an outdoor dog and would not suit those who are scared of dogs. You have to share the common utilities with the other four tenants and landlord.

Please contact me if you are genuinely interested in this ad and would like to inspect the place. You can reach me at +614 5066 1213 or alystair99@gmail.com (I check my mails regularly!)

Unfortunately, not many free wifi places. Even the McDs limit your usage to 15mins and it's terribly slow

just back from GC and Brisbane for 6 nights...

since we stay like 2/3 block away from Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise,
most of the cafe/coffee/bar provided a free wifi...
McD, give u limited to 1hour wifi only..
since we used the mobile internet on the smartphone, so its not really matter,
just used their free wifi for registration or important stuff.

Hello,
Planning to go to Gold Coast end of July. My itinerary is as following
Day 1
Arrival at GC - 8.25pm (transfer to hotel etc)
Day 2
MovieWorld
Day 3
Sea World
Day 4
Springbrook National Park Full Day with Glow worms
Day 5
Gold Coast to Byron Bay Tour ( or Free Day)
Day 6
Back to KL

As far as I know, the themeparks close at 5pm. So probably will do some shopping at HarbourTown or somewhere else after the themeparks.
My questions are
1) How good are the train system? Are they really convenient or should I take the busses/ shuttle bus
2) Food expenditure calculation of RM150 p/person a day is sufficient?
3) Night time when arrival is there any shuttle bus or bus transfers? Or do i have to rely on taxis which cost 50AUD one way. I think around 9+ will be out from the immigration etc

Hi, iirc the shopping malls close early too (5.30 pm?) except on one day (Thursday, 9pm?). Please check to confirm.
