480 AUD for 5 nights, 4 pax at Surfers Hawaiian is a very good deal. Which website you get that offer from, and how do you place your booking? Mine is on the second week.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi there, I just sent an email to them and asked for the best price for 5 nights stay. (3 person sharing basis)

Brisbane is very close to Gold Coast actually..u can take the Airtrain from the city either Fortitude Valley Train Station or Brisbane Central Train Station n it only cost you around $5 to reach Gold Coast..U can refer the journey planner on this website www.translink.com.au..In case ur flight touch down in Coolangatta Airport (Gold Coast Airport), u can take the 761 Bus and for about half an hour u will reach Varsity Lake Train Station ( last station) and u can hop on it to go to Brisbane..Same as Brisbane Airport..U can use the train as well and there's no need to use bus..Btw, Surfers Paradise is a MUST GO place..as well as the theme parks such as Movie World, Dreamworld, Seaworld n others in Gold Coast..U can purchase the tix online at http://myfun.com.au..As for Brisbane, u'll love the city..the public transportation is very efficient so u dont have to wait long to hop on ie the bus, city ferry n train..Although the food is a bit pricey but the size n portion of the food is big n im sure u'll satisfy with it..In case u crave for asian foods, there's a Chinatown, sushi restaurants, n others..there's also halal restaurants n shops as well..I've been in Brisbane for almost 3 months now n im coming back to msia end of this month..huu so sad~~

Hi guys. I'm back again! biggrin.gif Planning to go to Gold Coast again during end of June.

Can you guys suggest accommodation for 6 people? Planning on a budget trip so I'm not sure of what good and cheap place to stay (preferable nearby bus stop so can just ride the bus to Surfers Paradise and theme parks).

This is the rough itinerary i planned:

Day 1 - Arrive at airport. Check-in. Look see around Surfers Paradise.
Day 2 - Movie World whole day. At night probably check out the shops.
Day 3 - Wet n Wild whole day.
Day 4 - Sea World and probably lay around the beach.
Day 5 - Maybe going back Movie World to continue some leftover rides (i'm assuming there will be a lot of people since it's school holiday already). Then pack up and go home cuz flight is at night.

Am getting the super pass (3 theme park for 100 AUD).

I'm thinking of going for whale cruise as well. Not sure which day to fit in/which day is best to go. And, what day is the night market again?

Thanks in advance for everyone's advice and opinion! smile.gif

If you will be driving for a period that is longer than three (3) months, you need to have an International Drivers License. Otherwise, we need a valid license from your own state/country.

remember to go MOVIE WORLD as well, i had been there last year Oct.
Roller costers for youngster and other, i believe now added new coaster stuff as last year they still building it.

remember ask for the character parade timing, should be around 3-4pm if not wrong. interesting parade icon_rolleyes.gif

sea world and movie world will take away 1 day in each place if u really participate everything inside.

Gold coast is really nice and relaxing if u stay near surfer paradise beach, it is everything around u within walking distance biggrin.gif
if u r budget traveller, just ride public bus to these world as they sure going.

almost forget, there is a skyscraper (forgot name) for scenery viewing. also recommended place.

Hi there, you will definitely wont be missing the beach! It is really awesome! I just got back from GC 3 days ago and I can tell you that there are quite number of people sunbathing on the beach. Haha. I only went to the Movie World as I do not have enough time.

Summary of my trip in GC from 31st May-6 June
1. Remember to get the Go Card from the airport once you touch down! Just charge your card around $75 dollars and you are good to go! (I spent around $70 dollars for transport during one whole week, including train fare to Brisbane from Surfers Paradise) From Nerang station to Roma Street (Brisbane), it was about 2 hours time.
2. Stay with Surfers Hawaiian Apartment for $480 (5 nights) Apartment was really awesome! Get help from Ian and Taya! Internet is available from Jimojo for $7.50 per hr.
3. There were a total of 3 of us and we cooked breakfast and dinner everyday for 5 days. Bought groceries from Coles and Woolworths for about $200.
Very sufficient for even 4-6 person for $200 of groceries. (lambs, pork chops, macaroni, bread, yogurts, chips, chocs, coffee, milk, bread spread, fruits, red wine, fruit juices, cordon bleu, marinated chic, bacons, sausages, cheese..oh man..lots more!) Luxury food supply for 5 days! Haha.
4. Eat out at cafes! The Coffee Club is the one i recommended most! $10 for 300g of steak! (Where to get this in Malaysia?!?!?) Moreover, it provide Avoid Zarrafa's at all cost!
5. Went to Movie World, Robina Town Centre, Harbour Town Centre, Brisbane, Paradise Country Farm ($20 for entrance, you could add another $15 for buffet lunch), Carrara Market. Decided to skip Currumbin because we were out of cash. Hahaha. Thinking that we have already seen kangaroos and koala bears from Paradise Country Farm. Gotta walk 1.2 km into the farm from the bus station. It took us 20 minutes. Haha.
6. Get the Translink Bus route map so that you can basically maneuver your journey like a piece of cake. Plus, all bus stations shows time bus schedule, you wont have to wait long either!
7. My trip was basically shopping based! Haha. Bought lotsa stuff from Cotton On and Jay Jays! $10 for 4 pieces of clothes! Stuff from Harbour Town are cheaper compared to Malaysia. :0)
8. Surfers Paradise night market was such a disaster. Went there on Friday night and there were only a few stalls. Probably that was during winter?
We walked from our apartment to the main beach (Cavill Avenue) for around 20-30 minutes. Such a long walk, but tolerable.
9. Total damage was RM 3000 for all. (flight, accomodation, food, transport and shopping). It was only around RM 2000 (minus shopping). Hehe.

thanks for the sharing, though it's rather subjective, but how cold was it over there during your stay? it's winter! my friend was there, too, last week and she was wearing 3-4 layers of clothing at any one time? blink.gif $200 for groceries were a lot! it's only 2 of us, and we're gonna be dishing it out to save our expenses, too, it's gonna be fun in the kitchen, i bet, LOL. by the way, you got wine, but how about champagne? as for the shopping in Harbor Town, branded stuff, or what? where do we get this Translink Bus Route Map that you mentioned about? why didn't you opt to drive around, instead?

Any nice food/restaurants you guys would recommend to eat around Surfers Paradise? Somewhere within walking distances like around Centro Surfers Paradise.

Looking for some good, affordable western meals smile.gif

Saw from above Carmein suggested The Coffee Club, thanks!
