Some private uni required higher muet band. If you are taking your STPM cert to apply for Singapore uni, they require your MUET result as well.

Actually you CAN enter university WITHOUT MUET if my counsellor is right. But the certificate after your end year in University will be kept if you don't seat for MUET.
SO do it quickly right.. |

If I remember correctly, you join in with the school student. See which school they will send you in to speak with the other candidates. That happens in my school lah.

QUOTE(Massa @ Jan 10 2009, 01:33 PM) Indeed. My friend from UTM said so. Yeah, 4 student sitting in a group. There will be a paper stating what topic/situation we will be talking about. I only got Band 5 as my speaking is terrible. If I get 10 or more mark, I'm already band 6. I think I score almost perfect on comprehension. Thats the part you should be concentrating on. I did the whole book in Longman MUET book. I only did it because I'm too lazy to do anything else One question , for MUET private candidates , how do you all do the group speaking test? |

It's quite ridiculous for the results to be released next month or later. I asked the previous question coz of come contradictions I was given.
MPM webbie says that mid-year registration will be open on 12th Jan and closed on 29th Jan. My teacher told me that the results for 2008 year-end will be out in February. Now I wouldn't be able to decide whether I want to register for the mid-year MUET coz I dunno the result of my previous test and therefore cannot decide whether I want to improve on the result or not. Any date later than 29th Jan would be ridiculous for the result to reach us. Anybody wit an insider's info on it? |

and 12th is tomorrow and 29th is during the CNY break. Meaning the decision has to be taken before the CNY break, which is this week and next week. Based on the 'intelligence info' in the thread, MPM is doin a bad job in this MUET business.

anyone can register to sit for muet.......
it is mandated by the min. of higher education that all courses in msia, both ipta and ipts needs muet to complete......you don't need to have it to enter, but you need to have a muet score to graduate.......and for some uni, as along as you sit for it, even if you got a score of band 1, you can graduate..... some unis and courses do have minimum muet requirements, but since it is NOT compulsory to process one at entry, they will accept other evidence of english proficiency like 1119 or even spm........ most foreign unis will insist on a more consistent and internationally accepted test like ielts........\ it is relatively easy to get the middle scores, band 3-5 is a very big band.......and it is relatively difficult to get band 6.........there are many instances of students who have achieved ielts 8.5 or 9.0 (native speaker level) getting band 5.....the reason is the marking is somewhat rigid and fixed (just like the usual msian exams like moral in spm)......you can be marked wrong if you give an answer not in the 'right answer list'.......even if you are right....... LOL based on what limeuu said I took a huge risk by writing like I'm in a conversation. I hoped they only concentrated on the english proficiency side and not the overly creative ideas...
