^^ The only people that looked cool to me wearing big buckles are country singers from Nashville, everybody else looked like a total douche.

2 cents.

Thanks hikari. Quite detail there.

Ok now question, how can we actually make it better for this type of style (can I say this is casual style?) As I believe a lot of ppl out there dont know how to mix and match properly (including me)

a) What type or belt and color is the best suited with blue jeans?
b) Can the tie been replaced with other color or its better if there is no tie?
c) For shirts with printed like the one in the picture, is it best to tuck it in or hang it out?

Please advise. Seriously no idea. Huhu.

hi. no prob.. my answers would be as jind mentioned...

a) brown or black belt.. if u want any other bright colours, it would have to be colour coordinated with your shoe.. and thereafter, it shouldn't appear anywhere else besides your shoe and belt to avoid being too "over" with the colour.. when you want to try those bright colours, u will probably be better off with a plain white tee (to tone it down a bit).. so your whole look have to match (belt+shoe match) and be very careful of "over-doing" it.. of course, to carry the bright colours, the fitting of your clothes have to be perfect, if not you'll look sloppy with bad colour coordination.. another consequences = probably end up look like some nerdy kid trying to look cool and trendy (but in fact, you are not cool at all)

conclusion :- belt and shoe colour must match! well, at least most of the time because some people can pull off weird colour combination.. =)

b) better off with no tie.. i think from my comments earlier, the shirt is not meant to be match with a tie.. it's not bout the colour..

conclusion :- best bet is to avoid tie unless you are attending some formal function.. casual and tie is most of the time a "no-no" for me..

c) like what jind said, depending on the length, but my best guess is that it should be untucked.. you'll probably look like a sloppy casual man which is wayyyyy better than appearing as a man who tries too hard to be cool..

btw sorry cityofpalms, my comments are not meant to be hurtful.. hope that you can take it positively.. =)

not big fans of so-called flashy belts.. shouldnt be a problem to match white belt with beige pants.. you can wear any kind of belt for casual, there's no real sweat about how to pair them..

I am not offended, Hikari. I learned something from your comment and others too, which is a good thing. We are all here to learn something about style, aren't we?

I'll post my pics again when I have the time. Thank you all so so much for your comments! thumbup.gif laugh.gif

Hey guys, I know this is a 'what you are wearing today' thread but I have a question that I really doubt requires a new thread, and since this is a rather active thread I hope it's alright to post this here.

My uni is having an event at night, while there isn't a specific dress code I want to look nice (duh who of us here doesn't). I plan on wearing a black long sleeve shirt (with green, white and purple stripes) and black long pants. But I'm not so sure what shoes to get.

Initially I was thinking of going with the shoes here:

http://men.style.com/gq/features/slideshow...o=25&play=false

But after discussing with a friend of mine, his advice was to get dress shoes instead. Can anyone give some insight on this please?

Once again sorry if this is in the wrong place, I didn't want to start a new thread.

ahh the adidas sambas.. it really depends on the look you wanna pull off.. if you're just going with the dress shirt, dress pants, then i'd say go with the dress shoes.. unless you wanna step up the glam and layer up with a jacket/vest/cardigan, then you may want to play it cool with the sneakers..

I'm not wearing a formal dress shirt and dress pants, anyway formal dress shirts usually look terrible untucked due to its length. I'm going with something more 'casual', like the AX kinda shirts.

Or should I just get Corfam shoes and and blind everyone

Do you get those shirts from Padini? As I have noticed for some time, dark shirts with green, white or even yellow stripes seems to be the popular choice among students these days. And yes, I hated them.

you want to go to an event untucked? o.O" what kind of event is this anyway? i assumed it was some kind of "grand" event, but if you want to go untucked, by all means wear the sneakers..

i personally hate those kind of dress shoes, those are patent leather with that awful shine..
