QUOTE(jind86 @ Jan 14 2009, 02:45 PM) of course these magazines are merely a guide for readers, GQ is more American where else the forums you visit are most likely AAAC and sf.net where they have alot of English members and their dressing style is totally different.. there's of course no right or wrong in whether it is relevant or not in style/fashion.. but then it boils down to whether you guys think the absence of my belt makes me look bad or do you guys think it's simply more appropriate with a belt or what is the reason? personally the reason for me to go beltless is quite simple, i basically only have one formal belt and i tend to skip the belt at times, in addition i have already featured the belt (M&S one) in this thread therefore i try not to feature the same clothing articles.. but pls do let me know what is wrong with my beltless look =) i gotta agree wit his reply below.. i mean, not wearing belt while exposing the belt loops seems to conclude that u're not bothered to put on a belt.. kinda like the 'tidak apa' attitude.. but it's just IMHO laa.. QUOTE(Fusion[eX) ,Jan 14 2009, 03:23 PM] Indeed true that I am an avid lurker in AAAC and SF. As a suggestion, I think a belt-less look would look great on a pair of pants without belt loops which uses buttoned straps instead (which are not common here and I only managed to get a pair of such pants from Next, UK). Mainly, I reckon that it is the feeling that something is missing which people get due to the presence of belt loops but absence of a belt.

Boxy shoulders. Proportion of tie knot and shirt collar is also inappropriate. Shirt collar roll is also bad. And forget about the dimple in that skinny tie. Either you tied a horrible knot or the tie just doesn't work with it. Perhaps you might wanna go with a four-in-hand instead. Button stance is also a bit high for SB. Mind I ask is this bespoke? If it is I can say the fit is rather bad for a bespoke suit. My two cents. This post has been edited by calvinloke: Jan 16 2009, 08:12 PM

ok thanks calvin for your opinion, i actually left the technical side to my tailor.. and from my point of view, the suit looks great.. well i actually got my suit from Lord's and the master tailor Robert Loh himself attended to me, he has dressed Mel Gibson, Muhammad Ali, and Siti Nurhaliza to name afew familiar ones, therefore i would assume that he is one of the best tailors in Malaysia..

Personally I would prefer lesser break in the pants as well. Sleeve pitch is off. There's nothing much that can be done at the moment. Perhaps you might compare your shoulder with a properly padded natural shoulder I posted below. About the best tailor in Malaysia, I rest my case. the picture u showed seems to have narrow shoulders, my shoulders are broad, take in any more in the shoulders and it would be stiff for movement.. sleeve pitch is off because i have my watch on the left hand and it was not adjusted for this particular shot..
in my opinion the jacket sleeve on the picture u showed me is too short, and too much shirt cuff is showing, thats clearly like one and a half inch of shirt cuff shown.. the shoulders on the other hand look fake, they dont flow down naturally to the sleeves..

I have to agree with calvinloke's take on the trousers' break though I think that the button stance on the SB suit look fine. If it goes any lower, it might end up looking too retro like suits tailored decades ago. In my opinion, I feel that the higher button stance on modern suits help make up for the lack of a waistcoat since most people nowadays hardly ever wear one. Gents in the past, on the other hand, always wears low button stance SB suits accompanied by a waistcoat. I can't comment on jind's suit's shoulders since camera angles and poses plays a role in the look. Added on January 16, 2009, 11:21 pmI somewhat feel that this discussion should take place in the Suit/Sporscoat/Blazer thread in this forum. I don't think there would be anything to do with your watch. Sleeve pitch refers to how the sleeve is connected to the sleevehead and how much of the sleeve is rotated back or forth by using the shoulders as an axis all based on the person's posture. Wrinkles around the arm will appear when sleeve pitch is off. We can see clearly from the pictures or perhaps your posture causes it. Do a better posture next time. Anyway I would like a roped shoulder with minimal padding or perhaps even sloped shoulders on my next suit. I agree on the comments on the suit although I just wanted you to look at the shoulders. heh. Fusion[eX], I am fine with high button stance actually but I'm thinking that the low rise pants makes things worse. Sorry but I'll stick to my natural waist when wearing suits. alright, i actually did bring the matter of the shoulders to my tailor, however he insisted that if he would take in more in the shoulders, there would be no ease for movement..

Well I had only heard where there would be pullings/ripples at the back when the shoulders are too small. Never heard of taking in shoulders would lead to the extent of hindering arm movement. Usually off the rack suits that came with low armhole position causes it. Most of my suits are made with high armholes. Did you opt for one?

Fusion[eX] - yeah this should be discussed there calvinloke - yupp thats what ive been told, and there's supposedly something about one side of my shoulders being uneven which requires a little more shoulder padding to balance both sides.. nope i did not mention anything about the armholes to the tailor..
