wat is the correct way to use perfumes? i dont seem to get it.

fellow sifus, pls help!

Spray/apply to skin. Don't be too stingy or too liberal with the perfume. Test a few times to get the best combination of sprays that suits you. Simple as that. I normally apply 5 sprays. 2 spray to the neck and another 3 more sprays to the chest under the clothes. Spraying under clothes (chest, abdomen and etc) gives better longevity but less sillage (trail of scent) and applying to exposed skin areas (arms, wrists, back of neck and sides of neck) gives better sillage (trail of scent) but lower longevity.

That's why i apply to both exposed and unexposed areas to maximize sillage and longevity. There is no set rule about how much or where to apply your perfume. Just be thoughtful of those around you and the situation/occasion.

Also understand that the smell u get right after spraying on a perfume is most of the time different from the smell u get an hour later. Often your perfume will smell weaker and less intense after an hour compared to after just spraying it on. This is normal and it does not mean your perfume is fake or you didn't apply enough. A lot of guys make this mistake and end up applying too much because they don't understand the way a perfume evolves throughout the day.

Ahaha,

Good, very good.
Btw why are you staying away from Ck free. I think it's not a bad scent, but I dont think i'll get it for my own.
The scent is quite normal, nothing special with it. Think i'll get bored after a few spray.  sweat.gif

Your description of CK Free summarizes my reason for staying away from it. Smells nice but the perfumer that made Free is so unimaginative. If I get it as a gift I would wear it but I'll never spend my money to purchase a bottle. CK Free has a similar vibe to the much cheaper Adidas colognes and other brands of cheap deodorant sprays available at Guardian and Watsons. CK Free has a price tag of RM160+ iirc. That same amount of money would get me a very good fragrance from YSL or Gucci.

Not only modern perfumes but stuff like soap, hair gel, cheap aftershaves and even car air fresheners have copied the Cool Water scent.

Hey johnny4, for what occasions should Kouros be used? Is it suitable for daily work?
*
Kouros can be used for work if u apply sparingly (2 sprays or less) under clothes. Kouros like DailyPerfume mentioned is a love-hate fragrance. I love Kouros but wearing it in public is another matter. From my experience, very few people I meet actually like Kouros. The best time to wear Kouros is when you are constantly on the move and not stuck in one place for long periods of time like in the office because even a few sprays of Kouros will likely overwhelm a small office space. Casual occasions like shopping, dinner and yumcha will suit Kouros...just make sure its not in an enclosed environment.

I personally apply 5 sprays of Kouros and so far no one has ever commented about my perfume being too strong. You might also want to let Kouros (or any other strong colognes) settle down a bit before going out so that it calms down and less potent.

i don't have personnal preferences, i only have the experinces of using Polo Sport (looks exactly like this user posted image). I don't know much about perfume as i am only exposed to one only... I would prefer perfumes, that make you smell like a "man", doesn't not smell that hard, but soft enough to get notice.... i hope there are suitable ones... thx  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

I would recommend you try YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme, Gucci Pour Homme, Gucci Envy for Men, Davidoff Silver Shadow Altitude, Thierry Mugler B*Men, CK Euphoria for men, CK Man and Chanel Pour Monsieur.

The above recommendations are quite a varied bunch as it's still hard to pin point what would suit you as u have not much experience wearing perfumes. Test them out if you have the chance and let us know your thoughts on the colognes u tried.

YSL L'Homme is good man !

L"Homme is not the longest lasting so I suggest u spray some to the neck and chest. I use about 5 sprays.

It's quite weak. not really worth the money. Givenchy Play Intense is better and has quite a nice coffee/chocolate note. Smells like A*Men light.

D&G THE ONE

how about this one?
any info about this perfume?
*
The One is quite good but fizzes out quite fast. The 1st 2 hrs The One projects quite well and smells nice and creamy. By the 3rd hour all that is left is a subtle creamy and sweet smell. However I still enjoy wearing The One as its perfect for the office.

btw spray on bare chest or on clothes?

I think I do remember recommending L'Homme to you LOL.

Spray on chest and skin - the perfumes develops nicely and u get the full picture.

Spray on clothes - better longevity than skin but the perfumes development is stunted to a certain extent and will smell different compared to spraying on skin.

Entirely up to you but I recommend spraying on bare chest and skin. perfume can stain your clothes so be careful.

I got a bottle of Eternity. One of the better perfumes released by CK. Eternity has very good sillage and longevity. It's more of a fresh scent that is perfect for the office and casual occasions. The only problem with Eternity is the fact that many guys own a bottle. Eternity is one of the perfumes I smell quite often when I go to malls around Kl/PJ or even clubbing. I say no harm in getting a bottle but don't expect to stand out with Eternity.

Next will looking for Lui Rochas & YSL M7....quite difficult to find at Malaysia....anybody can advice where can i get it? btw i oso looking for Gucci Pour Homme deodorant stick..already find at deparment store and outlet perfume shop but can't get it..juz got Gucci Envy only...huhuhuhu
*
YSL M7 used to be very common in Malaysia. Nowadays even the Pavilion counter has only one bottle in stock. However I was at the Parkson KLCC counter last week and there is M7 stock there. Another place to try is Robinsons, but I'm not very sure if there is still stock there. Hopefully they will bring in more stock of this great frag. I haven't tried Rochas Lui or any other Rochas frags before.

I do own the Gucci Pour Homme antiperspirant deodorant stick and all I can say is that it's really bad and not nice to use at all. Smells quite different from Gucci Pour Homme and flakes a lot. The stick also detaches easily and gets stuck in the container...I got to use my hand sometimes to push it down but nowadyas I just use the cover to push it down. Stay away from it man as it's a waste of money at RM89. The Lab Series Antiperspirant Deodorant Stick is of much better quality and it's unscented...cheaper too at RM75.

i'm feel so close with u when reading your comment regarding all perfumes that u know..ur information was so useful and make people here clear what they need to choose..
btw, i'm planning to get another bottle of perfumes instead of having D&G the one that bought last week..
can u give some information about these 3 perfumes:

1. bvlgari black
2. ck crave
3. hugo boss #6

which one better arr?

thanks a lot....
*
Good to hear man.

Bulgari Black - Basically this smells like rubber tires and vanilla. It may sound weird but trust me this one is very good and can be worn by both men and women. I enjoy wearing BB during the slightly cooler evenings. Sillage and longevity is quite good but doesn't offend or overpower other people. It's getting rare in Malaysia as not many people know about or buy BB. However it's quite pricey, retails for RM275 (75ml) but there is a 40ml size that is only available at Tangs@Pavilion and retails for RM220.

ck Crave - Discontunued about 4-5 years ago. I still havea small amount in my bottle biggrin.gif
I used to really like Crave but as I got older and discovered more frags, I realized that there are plenty more frags that are much better than Crave. However I still like Crave, most probably because of the memories associated with it.

Hugo Boss #6 - I tend to stay away from Hugo Boss frags because they tend to smell very plain and ordinary. Their names also are so confusing. Maybe I have tried #6 before but it never left any impression. I think I'll give it a try when I go out later. The reviews on this site my help http://www.basenotes.net/ID26120240.html

So from my ramblings you can deduce that I hold Bulgari Black in high regard. As for which one is better, only u can decide that as u will be wearing it. IMHO, Bulagri Black would be the pick of the bunch for me.

why people never spray on their legs? or their bottom?
*
Actually they do. Behind the knees is a favourite spot for some ladies as it's somewhat warmer n moist behind the knees and it helps in diffusing the scent. This only works well if you are wearing a skirt or shorts, that's why spraying behind the knees is not favoured by men. The bottom is not a good place. Only dogs smell people in those place.

Hey fellow perfume/cologne fans,

I would like to highlight something regarding gift sets. A few days ago I stopped by Tangs@Pavilion and chanced upon a Thierry Mugler A*Men gift set reatailing for RM150. A regular 50ml bottle of A*Men retails for RM194 so the gift set was almost a bargain. The set contains a 50ml EDT (rubber flask), 50ml shower gel and a 50ml aftershave/moisturizer. When i got home I noticed that the normally blue colour of A*Men EDT's contents was instead dark green (similar to Bulgari Aqua bottle). I posted this fact of mine on a fragrance forum and was told that the change in colour was most probably caused by exposure to light or aging of the dyes/colouring used. On the gift set box, the manufactured date was listed as December 2008.

Feeling very unsatisfied I called Luxasia and spoke to the brand manager in charge and she agreed to replace my discoloured A*Men. I was told that this kind of discolouration sometimes happens. So I went back to Tangs and managed to get it replaced. The SAs there needed a lot of convincing but in the end it was settled. Even though there was no difference in smell between the normal blue A*Men and my dark green A*Men, the colour change means that the perfume will not last as long as a new one. After examining the product code, I concluded that the dark green A*Men was in fact made in 2004/2005 instead of 2008.

So guys, be wary when u buy gift sets especially those that are heavily discounted. I suspect that gift sets are used to clear off old stock obtained from overseas markets. Always requests for a new gift set and not the one on display because no one knows how long it has been exposed to the store lights.

Btw, remember my old dark green A*Men....well the SA just took it and place it back into a normal box that used to house my current blue A*Men and taped it back, all ready to be sold to the next unsuspecting customer.

A*Men smells great by the way. Chocolate and coffee galore, it's becoming one of my favourite frags. It's very long lasting too and with 2-3 sprays it's powerful enough to attract attention due to its awesome sillage.

Cheers.

LE BATELEUR
L' AMOREUX

Very boring but will please almost everyone. D&G seems to have rushed this line out and it shows because they didn't seem to be designed properly. However the price is quite decent but there are many better fragrances out there.

I do quite like LE BATELEUR 1 and L'Imperatrice 3 though.
