other than armani black code, i've used acqua di gio, armani mania, davidoff coolwater (her), jpg le male, dunhill desire, polo sport, and ck be.

most of them have a few ml left.... i'm keeping them just to remind me of their smell  tongue.gif

ok, so the double black is out of the question... which one do u like best:

polo black or polo blue? icon_question.gif
*
I'll choose polo black over polo blue anytime. All depends on your nose though.

hi jonny4, would you mind to furnish me your humble opinion on these perfumes? so sorry for the long list. thanks in advance.

Acca Kappa White Moss
Burberry Touch
Calvin Klein Eternity Summer (2005 Version)
Calvin Klein IN2U
Carolina Herrera 212
Cartier Declaration Essence
Comme Des Garcons 2 Man
Dunhill Dunhill
Dunhill Pure
Hugo Boss Selection
Issey Miyake L’eau D’Issey Pour Homme
Jean Paul Gaultier Fleur Du Male
Mont Blanc Presence (Half-Moon/Old Bottle)
Mont Blanc Starwalker
Polo Ralph Lauren Blue
Rochas Eau De Rochas
Zino Davidoff Goodlife (Green Bottle)
*
I have not tried some in the list. I'll do my best.

Burberry Touch - Floral dominant with prominent notes of Violet and Tonka Bean. Similar to Lanvin Arpege Pour Homme which I prefer.

Calvin Klein Eternity Summer (2005 Version) - The best version so far. Can u still get this ?

212 - A good fresh fragrance that smells very green. Stays fresh throughout and doesn't go sour like some fresh frags. Very long lasting with good sillage. I really like the grapefruit note in this.

Cartier Declaration Essence - Very similar to the regular Declaration but with added citrus and Cumin. As i find the regular Declaration too spicy because of the cumin, this one I can't stand.

Dunhill Dunhill - Has a very dominant tonka bean base that makes it slightly sweet and powdery. I sold this off after wearing it thrice. Gave me headaches. But smells very classy though. Decent longevity, average sillage.

Hugo Boss Selection - Like all Hugo Boss frags, this one is average and safe. Fresh and clean smelling, perfect for the office.

Issey Miyake L’eau D’Issey Pour Homme - Starts off quite nice with good use of citrus and calone but an hour later it gets all floral and I don't fancy this part much. Seems to appeal to a lot of people so u might like this.

Jean Paul Gaultier Fleur Du Male - Smells terrible because of the extreme florals used. One of the most feminine smelling frags marketed to men I have ever smelled.

Mont Blanc Starwalker - In the same vein as Hugo Boss. Average generic slightly sweet/fresh/woody. A lot of better frags out there.

Polo Ralph Lauren Blue - Starts off quite fresh but becomes sour after about 2 hours. I'm not sure how I managed to finish 2 bottles of Polo Blue when I was a teenager.

Zino Davidoff/Goodlife - If u know where I can test/buy either do let me know as I'm quite interested in both.

Hope this helps biggrin.gif

Thank you sir for your effort. It is very much appreciated.

I agree with you that the JPG is very much feminine amongst. I actually got it as a gift. I will only use it sparingly, but only when I was in my 3-piece suit.

Zino Davidoff Goodlife is my very first perfume, got it like ages ago. One of my fav but too bad has been discontinued. I only left with about 10%.

CK Eternity Summer 2005 is a gift as well. I have compared it with others CK Summer and you are right, this is the best among the all. Still left with about 75%.

Mont Blanc Starwalker is the only perfume that I am trying to finish up. Still left with about 5%. It took me more than 2 years to do so for a 75ml bottle. You might think that I like it so much but as a matter of fact, I dislike it. I just want to finish it and throw away the bottle.
*
Welcome smile.gif

Yea i know the feeling when u have a bottle of cologne u don't like but need to finish. This ones take the longest to finish biggrin.gif
Zino Davidoff and Goodlife are both still in production actually. Its just that the importers here don't bring any in. You should be able to locate a bottle in Europe, although not as easily as Cool Water.

hello guys.. what u all think about ck free? the new frag from ck.. is it long lasting? which one is better... ck free or 212..
*
ck free is very ordinary and will not make an impression on anyone. its fresh, sweet and a little woody like the majority of men fragrances out there. 212 would be a better choice as the longevity and sillage is twice better than ck free.

Hi guys!

Just finished reading the thread from the very beginning  sweat.gif

No one has ever mentioned this brand before (I think). Any opinions on Vera Wang for Men?
*
Vera Wang for Men is actually quite good but doesn't last at all. The lack of longevity is a real downer for me.

Hey, saw Playboy perfumes in Guardian today.
Selling around 30 bucks per bottle.
It's 50ml one if I'm not wrong.
That series contains 4 different one.
Wondering why Playboy selling that cheap and
those perfumes is it kena reject one ?
The smell okay or not?
Boleh pakai?
Thanks. =))
*
I don't think it's rejected or defective perfume. It's all about the marketing and their targeted customers base. I have yet to smell Playboy perfumes because they look so tacky. You get what u pay for really. So don't expect Playboy perfumes to last the whole day. zYou won't smell very unique either as many guys would have bought one too.

Guys whats the diff between EDP and EDT?
*
You can easily get that info from a 1 second google search.

From Wikipedia,

"Perfume types reflect the concentration of aromatic compounds in a solvent, which in fine fragrance is typically ethanol or a mix of water and ethanol. Various sources differ considerably in the definitions of perfume types. The concentration by percent/volume of perfume oil is as follows:

* Perfume extract (Extrait): 15-40% (IFRA: typical 20%) aromatic compounds
* Eau de Parfum (EdP), Parfum de Toilette (PdT): 10-20% (typical ~15%) aromatic compounds. Sometimes listed as "eau de perfume" or "millésime".
* Eau de Toilette (EdT): 5-15% (typical ~10%) aromatic compounds
* Eau de Cologne (EdC): Chypre citrus type perfumes with 3-8% (typical ~5%) aromatic compounds
* Splash and After shave: 1-3% aromatic compounds"

The higher the concentration of aromatic compounds, the higher the price. Also, an EDP and EDT of the same perfume doesn't necessarily smell the same. Generally, EDP or Extrait concentrations are assumed to have better sillage and longevity. I have encountered many EDT strength frags that give EDPs a run for their money. Most men fragrances come in EDT concentrations but there are EDP versions too. Currently, Terre d'Hermes and Guerlain Homme are available in EDP concentrations.

What perfume do you guys recommend for a young, mature looking male?
I'm a completely newbie to perfumes.
I'm looking for a long-lasting perfume which most younger generations find it attractive.
I'm only 18, to be specific.
My budget would be somewhere around rm100-200. I don't mind if it's more than the range as long as it's extraordinary nice.
*
Versace Pour Homme would be a good for you. It's long lasting, appeals to most teenagers but there's a touch of class and maturity to Versace Pour Homme. If im not mistaken a 50ml is retailing for RM180. I am suggesting Versace Pour Homme because most ppl your age love aquatic fragrances. Paco Rabanne Black XS would suit a 18 yr old very well too. It smells mainly of strawberries but girls really like this. This one is long lasting too.

On the other end of the spectrum, you could try something a little more unique like YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme, Dior Fahrenheit and Dior Homme. All are long lasting colognes.

Thank you for your quick recommendation. I would try testing those perfumes some day.
By the way, what perfume do you recommended if I would like to buy another one for everyday usage? (classes at college for instance)
*
Bulgari Aqua would be good as an everyday fragrance. Unique enough to set u apart.
YSL Live Jazz would be a good option too. Also have a uniqueness to it..fresh but not an aquatic.

I don't mean to spoil your excitement but all 5 in the series are kind of boring. But the price seems quite ok.

Any comment on THIERRY MUGLER Angel Men?
*
Angel Men is insanely strong and very very potent. A mere 2 sprays will last you for more than 12 hrs. Fragrance wise Angel Men/A*Men is a very chocolate, coffee and tar dominant fragrance. Some say it's one of the best gourmands out there and the rest say it's the worst fragrance ever made. I'm not a fan of Angel Men. Angel Men comes in 2 types of bottle/flacon. First is a regular rubber flask like bottle. Another more expensive comes in a full metal case with a refillable bottle inside. The rubber flask variant is quite cheap (RM160, 50ml). But the metal casing one might not be available here because of the price.

i tried YSK kouros for the first time yesterday at Sunway Pyramid! and omg i hate that kind of smell. is M7 something like that?? they didn't have it there. Live Jazz is nice though =)
*
LOL Believe it or not...Kouros remains one of YSL's top selling men fragrance. The next time u smell Kouros on someone, that person could be me. Do stop and say hi before u run away biggrin.gif
it took me months of wearing Kouros before I really liked it. The initial blast maybe too much for most people but after about an hour it changes into an excellent scent.

M7 is a totally different experience. I would say it smells a lot like cincau right after spraying. When it calms down a bit, u will get more of a cherry cough syrup smell. Finally after a bout a few hours M7 will smell mainly like vanilla and a lot of wood (oud wood). But your experience may vary from mine biggrin.gif

Live Jazz is very good IMO. Smells fresh and youthful but does not smell like an Aqua Di Gio clone. Has better longevity than most fresh fragrances too.

YSL is famous for making "love it or hate it and nothing in between" fragrances.

Did u try Live Jazz and Kouros on paper or on skin ?

You might want to try fragrances that are less commonly worn. Nothing wrong with what u have only that a lot of other guys wear those fragrances too. But in the end it's personal preference.

will some fragrances cause skin irritations?
*
It is very possible. More so if fake fragrances are worn. That's why it is always a wise choice to stay away from fake fragrances no matter how close they smell to the real thing. Who knows what ingredients those people use. Better to spend a little more than suffer permanent irreversible damage.

Very hard to determine whether u will be allergic to a specific fragrance because each fragrance has a specific combination of aromachemicals whether natural or synthetic. Only way to determine would be by trial and error. I have over 70 bottles of cologne and so far only 1 fragrance i'm allergic to. I don't have sensitive skin.

My favourite D&G male fragrance is D&G Pour Homme. Sadly it's not available locally. If i'm not mistaken Singapore has it. The One is quite good too but still not as good as D&G Pour Homme.

plan to buy a perfume for my bf next valentine but I'm having hard time to decide it... ^^
Hmm... my bf never owe one... and he likes somethg simple and fresh... any idea????
*
If u want something simple and fresh, u have many options. The main problem with simple and fresh male fragrances is the longevity and sillage. The few that give me good longevity and sillage are Bulgari Aqua (better than the flanker Marine IMO), YSL Live Jazz, CK Eternity, Chanel Platinum Egoiste, Chanel Allure Homme Sport and Versace Pour Homme.

Diamonds is actually not bad but smells very synthetic after a few wearings IMHO. I do wear it from time to time but I won't recommend Diamonds as an everyday fragrance.

If you want top of the line, Creed Silver Mountain is the best. EDP and costs about RM 600+
*
In a way u do get what u pay for. I tried Creed Original Vetiver last night and was very impressed with it but the RM600 price tag really put me off. I got very good longevity and sillage from just one spray of Original Vetiver.

Any of you that wants to own a Creed but can't afford the price, try Sean John Unforgivable, Paco Rabanne XS and Davidoff Cool Water. Unforgivable is almost a direct copy of Creed Millésime Impérial and Paco Rabanne XS and Creed Himalaya are like twins scent wise. Lastly, Davidoff Cool Water and Creed Green Irish Tweed are almost indistinguishable.

how much is the bvlgari and ysl cost? .
going down later
*
Bulgari price range for men fragrances is between RM210 to RM230, this is for 50ml sizes. Bulgari Aqua costs around RM210. If u do get this or Aqua Marine, look out for gift sets as they represent value for money.

YSL price range is between RM165-RM220, also for 50ml size too. Live Jazz costs RM160+.

I don't buy 100ml size bottles most of the time so I am not sure how much a 100ml bottle will cost.
