wow you pretty much tried most of the fragrance in the market
*
Haha yeah kind of during my crazier days of perfume testing and buying biggrin.gif

Nowadays pretty much of the newer designer releases smell alike. It's more like once u smell one u have smelled the rest. However, there are a lot more perfumes out there that are really unique. I feel that perfumes that don't smell so inviting at first spray/sniff usually have more character and depth compared to the ones that smell smell great initially but end up smelling very dull and boring 1-2 hours later. Do keep in mind that my above statement is a very rough and generalized one.

Hi guys, can any1 tell me whats the difference between bvlgari aqva and bvlgari aqva marine?
*
I own a bottle of Aqua and a small sample of Marine.

Marine to me smells less unique but fresher than the regular Aqua. In terms of the sillage and longevity, I still find regular Aqua to be better. But it doesn't mean Marine is a bad fragrance, I just prefer Aqua more. The freshness in Marine is a result of the added grapefruit note in the topnotes. In all Marine is just too generic smelling and not really worth the RM200+ for 50ml price. However the bottle, similar to Aqua's bottle is quite cool biggrin.gif

guy, creed's silver mountain water is totally wicked!! what's ur take jonny5?
*
I'm not jonny5 yet man LOL

SMW is a great scent for hot weather because it is light and refreshing but has good longevity at the same time. It is not the most unique of scents but it is well blended so the note progression is like a well maintained BMW 5 Series. I bet if you like Silver Mountain Water, you would like other frags from Creed like Erolfa, Himalaya and Millesime Imperial. However the price tag puts me off as I have many fragrances in my collection that are good for hot weather so I don't think I'll ever buy a bottle. However if I do get a Creed it would be Original Vetiver.

any comment regarding burberry the brit n ck eternity?
*
Taken from my earlier post about Eternity,
"I got a bottle of Eternity. One of the better perfumes released by CK. Eternity has very good sillage and longevity. It's more of a fresh scent that is perfect for the office and casual occasions. The only problem with Eternity is the fact that many guys own a bottle. Eternity is one of the perfumes I smell quite often when I go to malls around Kl/PJ or even clubbing. I say no harm in getting a bottle but don't expect to stand out with Eternity".

Are u referring to Burberry The Beat for men or Burberry Brit for men ?

Brit is quite good. It has a nice creamy vanilla-ish vibe to it. It is also rather powdery in the drydown. Quite unique smelling as a good effort by Burberry to be honest because at least they didn't release something generic smelling. However Brit suffers from a lack of sillage and longevity, well on me at least.

I think we can group evening and night frags in the same category.

Some suggestions for evening frags (in no particular order):

- Thierry Mugler A*Men (my new found love LOL)
- YSL M7
- Dior Homme
- JPG Le Male
- YSL Rive Gauche
- Versace The Dreamer
- Must de Cartier Essence

Basically most sweet, heavy and spicy oriental fragrances would suit evenings better. You can wear those frags i listed in the day (well i do) just make sure you don't sweat too much because they can get cloying fast. There are exceptions of course.

I prefer the smallest size available usually either 30ml or 50ml. Saves space as I am running out of storage space already LOL.

Nope.

But they had a huge promo for Playboy fragrances recently.

Added on December 18, 2009, 12:33 pmI have this long standing impression that the majority of Malaysian men only like wearing fresh/aquatic smelling fragrances, e.g Aqua Di Gio, Cool Water, most CKs, most Hugo Boss colognes and most recently Versace Man Eau Fraiche.

So does anyone prefer colognes that smell a little different. something along the lines of YSL Kouros, Thierry Mugler A*Men and Kenzo Power.

Please state down your favourite different from ordinary colognes smile.gif

Looks like I'm not alone LOL. So do u get good dreams after spraying on The Dreamer ? LOL

I too sometimes spray a fragrance on before going to bed. Helps me sleep better and its a good test of a cologne's longevity.

It's the same on me too. It has good progression and I think it's a good thing that it doesn't stay strong the whole time.

hmmm how about Gucci Envy vs. Gucci Pour Homme and Burberry London vs. Burberry Brit

Jonny any idea...just wan share ur review here...hehehe
*
Gucci Envy vs. Gucci Pour Homme

Between this 2 very good frags my preference would be Gucci Pour Homme. Envy can sometimes get a bit irritating when worn on a hot day or when the mood is not right. GPH meanwhile starts off strongly but settles into a smooth, semi sweet vanilla-ish scent mixed with a lot of woodiness and incense. If u been to a Catholic church regularly, u will recognize GPH very well. However, both Envy and GPH don't really project well on me, meaning that u have to come close to get a whiff of either.

Burberry London vs. Burberry Brit

Between this two I will go with London. This is because London is a bit more unique and has this really nice port wine note. Brit can get a little powdery and I don't really like powdery scents much. Both are surprisingly rather light and lasts one me for around 6 hours, after that I would have to try very hard to be able to detect either on me. However, for the price I sometimes find the lack of longevity to be not so good value for money.

So where did u copy your "review" from ?

Do u know why i'm asking u this ? because u don't own any of the 3 but u seem to be able to give such an in depth reviews. Come on dude...who do u want to impress ? plagiarism sucks. Anyways if u can give me such an in depth review then y do u even bother wasting my time to type out a review.

I hate this kind of crap.

Edit:
Dude,

I found your "review" of Gucci Pour Homme here, http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Gucci/G...-Homme-691.html under user name originaldeftom, review submitted on 5/1/2009

This is your "review" of Gucci Envy http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Gucci/E...or-Men-688.html, by knightz, submitted on 18/9/08

Your "review" of Burberry London, http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Burberr...or-Men-804.html, by LaPD, submitted on 24/9/09.

It so bloody obvious lah that u just copied other ppl's review. After reading one line from your sentence and i cam smell the BS. What annoys me is that u even ask me for a god damm review and then u just copy and paste something from fragrantica and claim it as your own. I read a lot of fragrance reviews daily so I know when someone is bullshitting or not.

Hi guise. Any of you using Giorgio Armani's Attitude? The saleslady told me its pretty strong, so how many sprays (and where) would you guys reckon? Sprayed once on my chest before hitting the gym (weights, so minimal sweating) as a test run, and i could smell myself throughout. I was told as a general rule of thumb, if you can smell your perfume, its prolly too much. Ideas?
*
Hey man,

I have tried Attitude a few times but I don't own a bottle and i doubt i ever will because Armani colognes are known to be quite weak and short lasting. Most sales people at the counters will always claim that any cologne they are selling is strong and long lasting. Attitude IMO is average in terms of strength and longevity. The reason why you could smell Attitude throughout you workout session is because, 1) The smell of Attitude is new to you and 2) colognes are activated by moisture and body heat.

I normally apply 4-5 sprays of my cologne to my neck and chest and yes most of the time I can smell myself but no one ever complained it was too strong. Even if u can smell your perfume that doesn't mean everyone else can. Using 1-2 sprays I find that rather old fashioned. I mean if u are spend a couple of hundred bucks on a cologne, won't u want other people to smell it too ? The natural progression of a cologne's notes will mean that the fragrance will evolve and most of the time settle down after an hour or so. So my advice is if u want to use one or 2 sprays, don't bother applying cologne...no one will smell you unless they come close for a hug and that doesn't really happen in our Asian society. The world is filled with so many smells and fragrances from other people. I highly doubt 1 or 2 sprays will be enough. But this is just my take because there is no "rule of thumb" on how much and where to spray cologne. Others may agree or disagree with me but in the end it all boils down to what u r comfortable with. Similar to the boxers vs briefs debate LOL.

Welcome

Burberry Brit and I am King are also short lasting perfumes. CK Free is even worse. Attitude should be longer lasting than all 3. CK Free would suit teenagers more I guess but due to its pleasant boring smell a lot of guys regardless of age would be wearing Free. So don't be surprised if u smell CK Free on your dad LOL. Most guys in msia like citrus, fresh, aquatic and light colognes. Problems is those kind of colognes are not very long lasting. If u want something that is strong and long lasting u got to look for sweet, oriental or woody colognes. As many in msia wear those kind,u will be guaranteed to smell unique.

Examples of really long lasting perfumes are YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme, JPG Le Male, Thierry Mugler A*Men and YSL Kouros. They may not appeal to everyone but they are well made.

wow~  impressive thumbup.gif
i owned an Armani Code...the saleslady call me to spray on my inner forearm & my neck...
but i've forgotten to ask her how many sprays...now i got the answer, thx to jonny...

may i ask 4-5 sprays means like 2 to both side of neck and 2 to chest is it?
*
Usually I'll hit my abdomen once because most sprayers tend not to disperse the normal full amount because they have not been used in a while. So after I get the sprayer working normally I will spray my chest twice (mid n upper chest level) and I finish off with 2 sprays to my neck (1 spray to each side of neck). If its a cologne I have been using normally then I'll use 4 sprays and skip the abdomen shot.

Like I said in another post, there is no standard way to apply perfume. If u want people close to u and youself to smell the cologne then spray to places covered by clothing (chest and abdomen for example). If u want to fill up the whole room with your cologne then spray to uncovered areas of the body (neck, wrists, arms). All depends on you and the impression you want to give. I do recommend spraying both covered and uncovered parts of the body to maximize longevity and sillage.

Should not be a prob. Depends on how you carry yourself too. If u r more mature than your peers than Envy would be alright.

Nah, my dad's a typical Cina man, didn't bother telling him how much my Attitude costs or he'll start grumbling. I'll check the ones you mentioned out; standing out is definitely what i'm looking towards. smile.gif

Oh btw, do you get the larger (75-100 ml) bottle or the smaller (usually 50 ml) bottles? My mom said get the smaller bottle; less goes to waste via evaporation.
The man deserves an Elite tag.  rclxms.gif

I hope my suggestions were of use haha.

I usually go for the smallest possible sizes, usually 30ml or 50ml but 80% of my collection is made up of 50ml size bottles. My collection is quite big so smaller sizes saves space haha. If u have a collection more than 10 bottles than get smaller sizes. but if u going to use the same cologne everyday then 100ml represents more value for money. Usually the 100ml sizes come with better free gifts. Also the size u get depends on how much u apply (no of sprays). If u r a small sprayer then a 100ml will take years to finish.
