Tried Terre D'Hermes at Pavillion today..Something different compare to the eternity and the DKNY be delicious..So I ordered one online thru this forum..

Anyone tried the Dolce and Gabbana numbered perfumes?
*
TdH is a good frag but nothing spectacular. It's damm popular in europe.
D&G Anthology series - I've tried them all and all are crap. A waste of hard earned money if u ask me.

hey
do you guys really buy perfumes according to season
as in new season, throw your old perfumes and go buy the new one

or you guys are cheapskate like me
only buy perfumes during discount or warehouse sales?
*
Perfumes are not clothes dude. I never throw out my perfumes until every drop is finished. I even keep some of the empty bottles for display purposes. I try to get the best deal possible but I have never bought from warehouse sale b4. The hassle is just too much sometimes. Moreover some of the perfumes on sale during warehouse sales are sometimes defective or old.

Nope you are not the only one. Gender specific perfumes only exists because of marketing. Nowadays some male perfumes smell more feminine than the average female EDT. For example Dior Homme, Prada Amber Pour Homme and YSL L'Homme.

I'm using L'Eau D'Issey Intense right now. My only perfume. I find it a bit too happy and sweet for evening use. I'm looking for something more complex; darker, more sophisticated. For evening use. Preferably something I can buy from the forumer who sells perfumes. Johnny4, any suggestions?

depends on how exposed the perfumes are. if its stored properly in a cool, dark place, it can last for 10+ years.

some perfumes do smell better over time so dont be cautious or start throwing just yet.

You could try YSL M7, Gucci Pour Homme I (the brown one) or Guerlain L'instant de Guerlain and also Guerlain Heritage. Chanel Egoiste isnt bad too. but as always do try them first b4 buying.

There will be a change in the way the perfume smells indefinitely especially in the top notes 2-3 yrs after opening. This is because top notes are primarily citrus and citrus oils tend to degrade quite fast. However no worries as the middle and base notes will remain the same even after 2-3 years. My dad has a bottle of perfume that is at least 15 years old and when I compare my new bottle with it, there is only a difference in the top notes. Usually when there is a degradation in top notes the initial smell would be less fresh, sometimes even stinky but after a while the smell will be the same.

Also, it depends on how you store your perfume. Optimal way would be to use a wine cooler in order to maintain a constant temperature. But that would be expensive and takes up space. I store my perfumes the original box whenever possible and keep them in a cupboard away from light and heat. It helps too if your room is air conditioned. So far I have not noticed any change in the smell of my perfumes. Whenever possible try to get the freshest stock possible. Local importers most of the time will include a small sticker indicating the manufactured date. Although the date is not always accurate it's better than nothing. So if u are storing your perfumes near a window or on display near bright lights I suggest u store them properly.

Depends on how "unique" smelling you want to be really. Some occasions call for uniqueness some for conformity haha.

Here are some suggestions for you to try out:
- YSL Opium Pour Homme EDT **
- Aramni Code**
- YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme
- Chanel Pour Monsieur*
- Thierry Mugler A*Men and B*Men **
- Aramis (1965)*
- Dunhill Edition*
- Bulgari Black (my personal fav)
- YSL M7
- Lalique Encre Noire - this would be something very suitable if u are looking for something complex, dark and sophisticated.
- Cartier Pasha
- L'Essence de Must de Cartier Pour Homme

*Frags are more mature smelling and would suite formal evening wear.
**Frags that are sweet but more sophisticated than Issey Intense and very good for casual nights out.

I was in Pavilion once with a female friend and this pondan-like salesperson in front of Tangs went straight to me and asked, "Want to try some perfuuuumeeee? Here take this." He sprayed on Bulgari Black.

I was amazed by it, and wanted to grab a bottle, but checked myself by reminding myself that there were car service bills to be paid that month.

Maybe I should go get it.

Added on March 8, 2010, 12:40 amBut I remember it being a bit sweet. I am looking for something like this old YSL perfume that smells like urine and sweat mixed together. I forget the name.

I'm not surprised as Bulgari Black is very good...I didn't really like it when I first smelled it but after testing it a few more times I knew I had to have a bottle. Did you know that it's actually a unisex frag ?

I bought my bottle from Tangs as they have the cheaper 40ml (RM220) size whereas other Bulgari counters only have 75ml that costs RM270 iirc. If u do get BB make sure the spray mechanism is not the older lock and unlock type that is prone to malfunctioning. The newer ones like mine come with a regular type spray mechanism.

Urine and sweat ? OMG Are you insane ? ! LOL just joking. That frag would most probably be YSL Kouros....the king ! Strong stuff this Kouros and lasts like no other frag. I used to own a 50ml bottle but I love it so much and upgraded to a 100ml bottle recently LOL. I think you are the only person on this whole thread that is actually looking for Kouros (except Joey-kun). A few guys have tested Kouros after i suggested it to them and all were literally scared by it. How did u come to know about Kouros ?

CK Free is short lasting and smells cheap. No doubt it will sell well here. Don't waste your money on CK Free.

I read about it on some perfume site about it being "animalistic". It was the first time I heard of that word, so I became very curious to find out how animalistic smells like.

So when I found myself in Metrojaya, I asked them to spray me a strip. It was the strangest scent ever. It smelled of a) a man's crotch, or b) dirty sweaty sex. My lady friend disliked it.

It doesn't smell nice for sure. It smelled of raw alpha-maleness.

That sounds like Kouros alright. White opaque bottle right ? The only other YSL frags to have an animalic smell is YSL Pour Homme and YSL Pour Homme Haute Concentration.

It's a very polarizing scent and rarely I hear ppl saying it's so-so. It's either u hate it or love it.

It is extremely strong and intimidating for the 1st hour or so after spraying it on. As the scent develops it smells like a mix of raw honey, vanilla, incense and civet musk with a touch of jasmine. By the end of the day, Kouros really shines and that is my favourite part. I know it doesn't sell well here but I do hope they will continue to stock up on Kouros.

Girls just want a nice sweet scent on their boys you know? Nothing too aggressive. BTW my MD wore Kouros once when i standing next to him during a software demo.

I almost pulled the trigger on Bulgari Black just now. But damn, my focus this month is on bespoke shirts and trousers, not perfume.
