Lauder For Men not limited edition. It's just old (released in 1985). So kinda hard to get in msia..

Dior Fahrenheit one of my top 10 perfume..i don't get a duku langsat smell but i do get a motor oil/petrol smell that is very unique.

hello guys...i'm about to buy black xs by paco rabanne...got any comments and review of it??
*
Black XS is a very sweet smelling fragrance with a strong strawberry note. Doesn't smell like a natural strawberry to me but like strawberry jam. I personally like this scent and find it really fun and playful. At first spray it smells really strong but after an hour u might be wondering to yourself "Hell, where did Black XS go?". But no worries it stays on the body for about 8-10 hours on me but the sillage is nothing to shout about. Btw, u can get this for about RM130 (50ml) at places like Just Parfum.

did anyone try davidoff cool water or davidoff silver shadow altitude before?what do u guys think about both fragrances?
*
Davidoff Cool Water is one groundbreaking fragrance. It's like the father of colognes like Aqua Di Gio and Hugo Boss. I use Cool Water regularly and it's not bad. It's refreshing but doesn't really stand out because a lot of guys in Malaysia has it. Cool Water would be good for the office, college and a day out with the girlfriend. On me Cool Water lasts about 6-8 hours with a decent amount of sillage. You can get a 40ml bottle for RM120 at places like Just Parfum and Perfume Jewel (Tropicana City Mall).

I'm a fan of Davidoff Silver Shadow Altitude and i truly enjoy wearing it from time to time. Basically Altitude is a woody fresh aquatic fragrance (frag). It's actually a flanker to the less successful Davidoff Silver Shadow. If u had tried Silver Shadow before and don't like it don't push Altitude aside just yet. The only similarities with Silver Shadow in Altitude is the sweetness. However, on its own Altitude is a decent fragrance that boasts decent longevity and sillage. On me it lasts for about 6-8 hours. IMHO Altitude is one of the better releases by Davidoff in recent years. Fortunately it's not very well known here so few guys will be wearing Altitude. Nothing groundbreaking but i rate Altitude as one of the better woody fresh aquatics currently in the market. You can get a 5oml bottle for RM188 at major department stores. Places like Just Parfum also carry Altitude but from what i observed, they only carry 100ml sizes that retail slightly cheaper than department stores.

What do you guys think about burberry? And what's your favourite burberry?

I am thinking of getting burberry touch...any opinion on that? I have heard that the scent doesnt last long. Is it more of an evening perfume?
*
Burberry does release some decent colognes. At least they make an effort not to smell like every other cologne in the market (aquatic, light and fresh). My favourite from the Burberry line would be Burberry Brit for Men. Followed closely by Burberry London For Men. My least favourite Burberry would be Beat For Men which smells peppery and pungent. However one of my main issues with Burberry colognes is the lasting power. So far both London and Brit have not lasted more than 6 hours on my skin which is disappointing given how nice they smell sad.gif

Burberry Touch i don't think is carried by the Burberry counters in Malaysia anymore. But you could try shops like Just Parfum to see if they still have them in stock. I've only tried Touch once and it gave the impression of a strong floral woodsy perfume for men. Smells similar to the lesser known Lanvin Arpege Pour Homme (available in msia btw). from what i've heard, Touch does last 6-8 hours on average. And yes u are right Touch would be more suited for cooler evening wear. Wearing Touch in hot weather can be a little tough.

F Pour Homme is nice and light. Meanwhile F Pour Homme Black is a very good fragrance for evening wear. Somewhat similar to F Pour Homme. Subtil Pour Homme is a decent aquatic but lacks longevity.

Other than the obvious function/name, what is the difference between diesel's only the brave "normal" and summer edition?

What are the consensus here, do you prefer fuel for life or only the brave or none of the two?
*
None of the two. Fuel for Life i found it to be slightly feminine and not really for someone my age as i prefer the more masculine colognes like Kouros and Azzaro Pour Homme.

Summer editions are usually lighter and have a more prominent citrus notes. Most of the time they smell the same as the regular version, just lighter.

How about CK one and Be? Both being unisex, do you find the scents feminine-ish or striking balance?
*
IMO I find ck be to be a more masculine than ck one. I own both and really enjoy wearing both as they are simple frags that work very well in hot weather. However ck be doesn't have good sillage and longevity. Whenever i wear ck be ppl need to be close to detect it. I can get a good 4 to 6 hrs longevity from ck be. CK one is much better in terms of sillage and longevity is a good 8 hours on me.

Are you looking for an everyday office/college cologne or something for a special occasion ?

anyone try the new HUGO ELEMENT?? the market is???
*
Element is a very unimaginative cologne IMHO. I'm not sure why Hugo Boss releases scents like this thinking us guys are so easily swayed by marketing and promotions. Element smells to me like many other men's fragrances and for RM200 for 50ml i think it's a waste of money. But to each his own.

Both day/college and evening wears.

I have CK Be and just up to recently, found out it's supposed to be unisex. XD
*
Day - try ck man, ysl l'homme, versace pour homme, Bulgari Aqua and Gucci Pour Homme II. There are many more.

Evening - YSL M7, Must de Cartier Essence (men's), Paco Rabanne Black XS and Chanel Antaeus.

The day suggestions are fairly safer and don't stand out so much. Will be god for office/college.

Evening suggestions are heavier and unique in order to attract attention such as M7 and Antaeus. Not the most famous evening colognes worn by malaysian men and not something u will see suggested by FHM or Men's Health. Give them a try u may like them. However if u want something for the evening that is safer and more generic, let me know i'll give more suggestions.

Im finding perfume which is long-lasting.
The scent I want to achieve ; must be sweet and fresh.
:]
*
Here are some suggestions...Emporio Armani Diamonds for Men, Dior Homme Cologne, Chanel Allure Homme, YSL L'Homme and Kenzo Power. There are many more as the current trend in men's cologne is swinging towards the sweeter/fresh type instead of the woody/fresh aquatics of the past. The colognes suggested are easily obtainable in msia and all are suited for hot humid weather.

wat other brand of perfume are consider luxury or exotic?
*
Amouage is one...retailing for RM900 for a 50ml edp/edt.

Annick Goutal, L'Artisan, The Different Company and Montale are the more higher end fragrance brands. These brands are called niche houses as their main business focus is fragrances. Prices usually start at RM350 for a 50ml edt. But prices also vary between house to house and concentration.

Brands like CK, Hugo Boss, Versace and Armani are the more mainstream designer brands. Their main business focus is not fragrances but rather fashion clothing. Usually colognes from these brands are affordable with an average price of RM180 for 50ml edt.

Meanwhile there are other higher end designer fragrance brands like Hermes, Cartier, Bulgari and Lalique. They charge higher prices mainly to maintain their status as high end haute coutoure brands and not regular designer brand. Prices start at +/- RM250 for a 50ml edt.

CK Crave has been discontinued. It was a failure business wise as Crave only lasted a year before production ceased.

currently using Paco Rabanne Black XS and Burberry old london... but as jonny4 said the scent doesnt last...
*
Try spraying a few shots to the chest (under your shirt) to make your cologne last longer. It works for me and with most colognes i get an extra few hours of longevity. I personally do 5 sprays (2 neck and 3 to chest) and i get good longevity from almost all my colognes. 5 sprays may seem a lot to some but i'm spending my hard earned money on it, i might as well let ppl around me smell it smile.gif

QUOTE(earl-ku @ Oct 2 2009, 03:07 PM)
it depends on what u use, some perfume has too much alcohol which evaporates very fast and lose the smell quite fast ...

i think calvin kleins eau de toilette is not lasting(euphoria, ck one, ck be and ck man)

where else like jpg le male is so far the longest lasting perfume - eevn after a wash the clothes u can still get the end note like it was before the wash ...
*
It doesn't actually depend on the amount of alcohol used. Basically the amount of alcohol is about the same from fragrance to fragrance unless it's an eau de cologne intead of an eau de toilette. It depends on the type of ingredients used to make the cologne. Citrus and tea dominant colognes (ck one, euphoria, AdG for ex) tend to last between 4-6 hrs. Longer lasting colognes tend to have more wood, vanilla and herbal notes. However this is just a very small example of ingredients used to make perfume.

Well JPG is long lasting but colognes like YSL Kouros, Joop! Homme and Bogart Pour Homme will outlast JPG.

The reason why i emphasize spraying to the chest is because most of the time the chest is covered by a layer of clothing. That layer of clothing will actually slow down the evaporation process as there is less contact with air compared to the neck and wrist. Also, when u spray to the chest, your clothing will also absorb a little bit of the cologne and as we all know cologne tends to last a little longer on fabric. However, spraying cologne onto clothes is not advisable as some colognes will stain clothes. Another reason being that when a cologne doesn't develop properly when sprayed on fabric. The top notes tend to last longer but the development will impaired and in some cases the cologne will smell bad.

The perfume not strong type, mild and unique, can`t find anywhere else got that smell.

The fact is, Ed Pinaud is the supplier for Kings, Queens, Emperor, Empress and Leaders all around the world.
Not making it up, can see facts on www.ed-pinaud.com  <-- BTW, website in French Language, cause product from France  wub.gif

I heard that Ed Pinaud was really a perfume house in the past. They got revived by the ppl at Lamp Berger.

That's y i don't wear it anymore...adg is not a chick magnet, it just reminds them of their ex bfs...

Hey guys! planning to get either Gucci pourhomme II or D&G The One.

Are these suitable for office? i work in sales.
*
IMHO D&G The One would be a better choice for someone in sales. GPH II is lighter and less noticeable to other ppl. However do keep in mind that while The One smells great for the 1st hour or so, it gets quite subdued after that. However for those days when u r at your desk the whole day and not out meeting clients then GPH II will be a better choice.
