QUOTE(A.Joe @ Jan 5 2010, 06:22 PM) hi, i'm new here. bought a cotton suit, brown or khakis in colour. its fused, 2 button, double vent. i know nothing bout suit. bought it coz its on sale n i like the colour n the material. but i do know this is abit bigger for me. the sleeve is abit too long coz i can't see the cuff. what else should i alter? the fit around the waist? the length? n any nice n cheap taylor that willing to alter this thing for me? thanks~ i think its pretty decent.. shoulders look great.. may be a little extra room at the chest.. length should be fine i suppose since you look like you're able to cuff the end of your jacket..ohh, i really like jind's "new" suit. any possibility mine can look like that? haiz~ p/s: be nice with ur words. i really don't know anything, so don't scold me. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « i see a little shirt cuff showing on your left sleeve so i guess the length should be fine.. is the jacket buttoned in the picture? something looks off there.. QUOTE(kotmj @ Jan 5 2010, 09:18 PM) It looks OK. At least the shoulders seem to fit. Have the tailor slim down the sleeves, take away an inch or two from the waist, and you have an OK jacket to wear with jeans. Don't wear it with the pants. hey im not the one coming up with new bespoke suits every month jind our resident millionaire's son's suit cost 1.5K or thereabouts so you cannot compare. (But at least you have symmetrical shoulders.) QUOTE(FusioneX @ Jan 5 2010, 10:25 PM) Quoted for the lol. But then again, that description fits Flizzardo best: Google his name in Google Image Search and you'll see pictures of all the expensive toys he own. you scouting for a new sugar daddy? QUOTE(A.Joe @ Jan 6 2010, 12:38 AM) + shoulders are perfect+ lapels seem fine. I like mine half an inch slimmer though (don't shoot me, traditionalists!) - sleeves to be shortened by around 1.5" depending on your shirt's cuffs - button stance to be lowered - more waist suppression - jacket length shortened, but I can't really tell unless you post a full-body shot since we need to take into account balanced proportions - more open quarters - sleeves to be tailored slimmer - it isn't clear from the top half picture but your pants look a little baggy, possibly I might have missed out on some minor details since I'm really sleepy right now. Anyway, if possible, please do post the picture of your whole body for more accurate feedbacks from us. ^^I think the pants are too long. Shorten by 0.75 inches. The alterations tailor will resist doing so, or try to talk you into shortening it by 0.5 or less, but don't give in.

Maybe will bring it to a tailor, but currently working in Singapore, better bring back to Malaysia and ask, cheaper hehe. Thanks anyway. |

I was in a Hugo Boss boutique the other day, and it was a revelation. They have the most exquisite cloths: I handled (for the first time in my life) a suit of pure cashmere (oooh!), Super 150s (aaaah!) and fondled a precious shirt of solidly woven high threadcount cloth with beautifully glimmering real mother of pearl. I was deeply impressed by it all. The Super 150s suit didn't even feel like wool. It was like something God had woven then dropped off at a Hugo Boss factory.
Too bad one of the suits cost RM3995 and the shirt RM1095. The lapels of one of the suits was machine padded, while the other two I fingered were not padded at all. But despite that, they have a lovely roll due to the horsehair canvas and good ironing. I was thinking: What a waste of precious materials for RTW. These things should not be RTW, they should at least be MTM. Also, what a waste they are half-canvassed. Such exquisite cloths shouldn't be fused to something else. |

QUOTE(kotmj @ Jan 4 2010, 05:59 PM) I'd recommend Bangkok or Shanghai. RM700 for a wool suit is impossible is Malaysia. okay..Oh yeah, you won't actually get wool in either cities, but at least the selvedge will say so. lets take out the rm700 budget.. where can I get a cheaper wool suit done around Malaysia? |

The standard recommendation for a first suit is one in navy colour. If you will be using it in Malaysia, I recommend a mohair mix. I have a mohair suit, and it is very cool to wear. I have just received a navy mohair mix length of cloth today, and I know it will be cool to wear as well.
The cheapest tailor I would personally use is Ah Loke Tailor in KL (do a search on this forum). I know he has some navy mohair in stock; he showed it to me once. Not the best quality, but I suppose it will do. I do not know how much he will charge you, but he is not expensive. This post has been edited by kotmj: Jan 11 2010, 09:23 PM |

A nice brown packet was waiting for me at the reception. I was taken aback by how light it was. Nearly 4 meters of English cloth, but it weights nothing. It came all the way from Leeds.
![]() It is in navy, a colour named after the British navy, once a force to be reckoned with and which made this its official colour. It is a very masculine colour. ![]() I now see the light. I now understand why people keep going on about fresco. Because this is mohair fresco, possibly the coolest cloth money can buy. See for yourself. ![]() It's like going around naked. MBT gave me half canvass construction for jackets with hand-made buttonholes. Well, he quoted me quite a high price this time. I was given a soporific economics lecture today after he declined my commission. "Don't be impatient, young man!" he said to me before I left. That navy wool is back to serve me as my blanket.

Make sure you don't stain it. Would make a bad impression.
