me...once a month...since i have more intake fan compared to exhaust fan... once a month also been too dusty..btw i will not take out the heat sink...i just detach the fan...clean it and put back the fan... from my experience, the dust will accumulate a the fan and btween the can and heatsink..mean only small amount of it goes into the small space every blade... (not good at explaining  sweat.gif  sweat.gif )
*
ohh.. so u only clean the fan la? then shouldnt have much prob cos no need to take out the hsf... i thought dust will accumulate between the fins/blade... hehe, thanks bro! thumbup.gif

QUOTE(:3mushy:3 @ Jun 19 2009, 03:41 PM)
Whenever the noise has become intolerable. Just blow the heatsink, use paint brush, and finally use water hose and spray all the 'stubborn' dust.
*
so u took out the hsf? did u reapply thermal paste everytime after u clean it? or the old one will do? i was thinking whether i could just use the hsf without thermal paste, cos temp difference not much...

my fren pairing the 4670 woth his p4 (i donno the details about it.donno what core speed ) but it greatly reduce the performance... i can see a severe bottleneck at his setup while play a L4D.. and crysis shudnt be any better...
*
aisey... >.<' ... if L4D also severe bottleneck, then crysis should be worse... let's hope his pentium isn't 3.0 like me as well.. thanks anyway bro! wink.gif

Great!! Thanks!! no need to upgrade my mobo then... thumbup.gif

Added on June 21, 2009, 5:19 pmeh, sorry, my mobo can only support 533MHz... cry.gif although the ram itself if actually 667MHz... means the ram will only function at 533MHz right? anyway, uncle google said 533MHz and 800MHz have different performance, noticeable in terms of bandwith, 8.5GB/s vs 12.8GB/s. but normal users wont probably notice the difference, and if there is, only slight.

what is the quietest heatsink or air cooling system?
must fit into a mid tower casing icon_question.gif  unsure.gif

get a sunbeam core contact freezer, and use it without the fan.. 100% quiet.. the 92mm version should definitely fit into a normal casing...

not sure myself, but from the review, i guess there shouldnt be any prob... only 60C load temp when OC without fan.. and that's a pretty high OC than the stock.. get the large version if u're worried! everything depends on ur budget too... brows.gif let the pros recommend based on ur budget..

Added on June 23, 2009, 11:31 pmand naah, no shirt circuit... why would there be any? if ur system tells u that it doesnt want to start cos ur hsf fan is not connected, just connect any fan to the mobo on the cpu-fan connector..

guys, another noob question here... my mobo is gigabyte GA-945GZM-S2, and it can support 800MHz fsb, although if i turn on the fsb overclock in BIOS, it can run a 1066MHz proc at 800MHz speed. will this affect the 1066MHz proc performance greatly? or not noticeable?

hi guys, i'm not sure if this question belongs here, but i just wanna ask, my fren wanna upgrade his pc for some light gaming (he says he just wanna play Sims 3, and he doesnt play games like crysis, far cry 2, etc)... so i'm wondering, is Pentium D 3.0GHz enough for light gaming? i already recommended him a gc (hd4670 since it's only for light gaming, and his psu is cap ayam)... so does he need to change the proc too?

guys, please help me! i'm setting up a new pc from scratch, and i'm trying to install a new windows. prob is:
-when i try to install vista, the screen will go blank (but the lcd didnt say no signal, it just went black) and the cd-rom will stop flashing after the windows setup components has been automatically loaded.
-when i try to install xp, the same will happen either after the "windows xp" splash screen, or after i press spacebar when it says "press spacebar to boot from cd", or after i press spacebar again when it says press spacebar to setup windows. cry.gif
i've tried again a few times, but it still wont work. i've tried waiting, but it stayed the same. i've tried using another cd-rom drive cos i thought maybe the cd-rom is faulty, but the same prob still occurs. i've tried formatting the harddisk first before installing, still same prob. changed the sata and power cables, same prob. bios settings, jumper, etc are all at default. please help me guys, thanks a lot! notworthy.gif notworthy.gif here's my spec:

athlon II X2 240
ECS elitegroup gf8200a mobo
kingston value ram 2gb 800mhz
WD sata hdd 320gb
LG dvd burner
coolermaster extreme power plus 460w

i tried the windows on another pc, and it works fine... but the prob is, u cant install a windows on another pc and then just switch to another pc... the installed windows wont boot in the other pc... i tried it anyway though.. i'm guessing it's a mobo prob... since there is a loose cap on the mobo... cry.gif
anyone has other ideas?

by the way, when i entered bios, it detects the processor correctly... it says amd athlon II X2 240, L1 cache 256kb, L2 cache 2mb, clock 2.8ghz, nb clock 2ghz, or something like that... but the revision of the processor is weird, it's just some random symbols and weird characters like yua$(*&@$(&$72.

update: problem solved. all it needed was a bios update. thanks guys!

hey guys, a quick question. which one should i buy:
2GB OCZ PC2 6400 Gold series OR 2GB Kingston Value RAM PC2 6400?
cos i'm using both currently, in different PCs, and when i ran the vista windows experience index thing, the full sized ocz ram with heat spreader only got a score of 5.0, while the small naked kingston managed a 5.9. does this mean that the kingston is a better ram? cos i wanna make upgrade one of the pc to 4gb. thanks!

pls run a proper benchmark doh.gif
a quick run of superpi 2M 4M 8M (about 5 minute) will show you which is faster.

hehe, didnt know much about those softwares cos never bothered to oc my value rams. thanks anyway! thumbup.gif

update: ran a quick test using superpi, and on average, ocz is slightly faster. rclxm9.gif good-looking ram, with good performance, and good price. too bad they're not widely available in the shops like kingston...

another noob question, i have 4 ddr2 ram slots, it appears to be ddr2_1,ddr2_2,ddr2_3,ddr2_4, does it matters if we put at any of them? i felt like putting my 2gbx2 on the 1st and 3rd slot, so it looks better, =x, can i do that? core 2 duo is that better to put twin kit or 2 same mhz,ram size(2x2gb 800mhz) works better than single ram/4x1gb rite? <<u mean 1x4gb?
*
ktek's right, u might lose the dual channel configuration if u put the ram that way. usually dual channel should be between slot 1 & 2, and 3 & 4. but maybe some mobo are different. and different mobo has different recommendations if u only have one stick of ram. my asus mobo says should put in slot 1, my ecs mobo says should put in slot 3. it should be stated somewhere in ur mobo manual... check it out. anyway, if u're not bothered about the dual channel stuff, just put the ram anywhere u like smile.gif

@Racerx, hi, u said in another forum that an E5200 at 3.2GHz is comparable to a stock E8400. For real? cos if it's real, then i might just save rm100 and get an e5200 instead of a phenom 550 (which is even slower than e8400).. thanks!

both are Core Architecture, performance should be similar if overclocked to same speed (E84 still have more cache advantage)
but nobody can gurantee the sucessful of your overclocking whistling.gif

hehe, i know... but i managed to get my old e5200 to 3.0GHz on stock hsf... so this time i'm getting a new mobo and a better hsf, and wanna learn to oc higher.. tongue.gif
