guys, i'm havin a prob with my sapphire hd4830. sometimes, randomly, the gc will crash, and my lcd will say no signal detected. and whenever it crashes, the gc fan will spin at max speed, and there's a light coming from an led on the backplate of the gc (it's labelled "over temp protect"). the led usually just blinks once or twice during startup, but during crashes, it will be switched on constantly. can u guys help me out? and it's not becos of overload or anything, cos it happens even when i'm just surfing the net. gc temps and load are normal. thanks!

yup, latest driver... could it be due to my power supply? i've changed my psu recently, from coolermaster extreme 460w to vantec ion2 400w. the prob never happened when i was using cm 460w before... hmm, i'll try gpuz. thanks!

yeah, i thought so too... and that's what i told the shop owner.. but he said that this psu wont have any prob with my hd4830 since he's using it himself on an i5 platform... and another weird thing is, it only occured in the past few days, although i've changed the psu for more than 2 weeks...

hmm... what is your spec??

u got how many HDD/DVD rom?
*
e5200 @ 2.5GHz
asus p5kpl-am mobo
ocz gold 2gb ddr2
1x hitachi 320gb
1x LG 22x dvd-rw
sapphire hd4830 @ stock speed
one 12cm led fan
vantec ion2 400w psu

i dont think my pc is using that much power... or could it be that the power supply at my house is a bit unstable? cos this never happened in my college...

hi guys, is it possible to overclock a e5200 to around 3.6GHz on a cheap motherboard like the p5kpl-am? or need a better mobo? or need better luck? sweat.gif

hmmm
vantec is true power ya? <im not so sure>
if yes, then vantec shud be better or more a less the same with ur former PSU..
but normally if PSU faulty, the PSU itself overheat or fail..
if not enough juice, the whole PC will shut down..

mebbe someting bad occur when u detach ur GC <if u did that when changing the PSU>
*
well... i did actually detach my gc... sweat.gif but i'm pretty sure i attached it back properly... hopefully i didnt damage the gc cos i pushed the gc pretty hard into the slot... sad.gif
anyway, the vantec is not true power... but the amperage on the 12v rails are pretty good... hmm, i already changed to another psu, so far the prob still hasnt happened... let's hope it stays that way... sweat.gif

guys, a quick noob question. i'm playing crysis at max settings and the frame rates are acceptable. i didnt measure with fraps, but i'd say more than 30fps. the problem is, after a few minutes of playing, the game just crashes and stops responding. the game works fine at medium or high settings. i've logged the temps of the gpu, and it never exceeded 60c. so is it the gpu, cpu or ram which is limiting the game at max settings?

my spec:
athlon II X2 240 2.8ghz
2gb ocz gold ddr2 800mhz ram
galaxy gtx260 896mb ddr3, 192sp

thanks!! notworthy.gif

the res is 1366x768. and yes, my gpu is 192sp version, the old version. just bought it out of desperation sad.gif
it's dx10 capable, but not dx10.1. i've set my crysis warhead to dx9 for better playability (crysis warhead can choose max setting even at dx9, unlike crysis). it hangs at the beach level. even though i didnt move much and there's no enemy around. guess the ocean and the waves was a bit too much for the gc to handle... sweat.gif

Guys...I just bought Seagate freeagent Go...
Should i reformat it??
*
i dont think u have to... but if u still want to format or create partitions, at least install first all of the softwares given in the portable hdd... cos i'm also using a seagate freeagent, and they came with an installer inside the hdd... although the software is not necessary to run the hdd... just some settings to control the led brightness, etc... tongue.gif

I installed the sofware given..But after i reformat it all the software wont be inside rite??
Then the seagate manager still can be use?
*
hmm, not sure, cos i've given the hdd to my gf already... if i'm not mistaken, the software inside is only the installer... so after install, u can remove it. or u can make a backup of the software in ur pc before reformat. sweat.gif

guys, another quick question. i just got myself a sapphire hd4870 512mb. this is the one with the new heatsink design. the prob is, the pcb is getting very very hot even when the card is idling. and after touching several areas on the pcb, it seems that the pcb is hotter around the 6-pin socket area where i plug in the power supply. the area around the gpu chip itself is just slightly warm, not as hot as the power supply area. shouldnt the heat be coming from the gpu instead of the power supply area? is this normal?
idle temp is 60C and load around 80++... and im using xigmatek 500w true power... thanks! notworthy.gif

Casing: HAF932 vs HAF922
Price: RM425 vs RM365
Size: 9.0"x21.5"x22.7" vs 10.0"x19.7"x22.2"
Weight: 29.1 lbs 19.2 lbs
5.25" bay: 6 vs 5
3.5" bay: 5 vs 5
Front fan: 23cm LED vs 20cm LED
Side fan: 23cm vs 20cm (optional)
Top fan: 23cm vs 20cm
Rear fan: 14cm vs 12cm
Bottom fan: None vs 14cm (optional)
IO panel: 4 usb, 1 firewire, 1 esata, 1 mic, 1 audio vs 2 usb, 1 esata, 1 mic, 1 audio

Normally i'd suggest the for HAF922. It's cheaper, it's a LOT lighter, u can put more fans (although included only 3), and it's actually wider. But i dont think budget is a problem for u, and u probably wont be moving the casing around, and ur house and ur table must be very very big, so the HAF932 shouldnt be a problem if u need the extra 5.25" bay, the extra 2 usb port and the bigger fans. tongue.gif

-edit- On second thought, u probably should get the HAF922... in case u're gonna get a HUGE heatsink, since the 922 is wider than the 932... thumbup.gif

fuah. someone answer my query, please? D:

hmm, i'll try to help, although i dont know much myself. IMO, during the manufacturing process of quad-cores (X4), some of the chips have damaged or defective cores, so instead of throwing it away, they cut cost by selling it as triple-core (X3) or duo-core (X2), depending on how many cores are defective. sometimes u can unlock these cores, and get them work by using the proper motherboard, the proper bios, and a lot of luck. sometimes the cores work just fine after unlocking, but sometimes u need to tweak the voltage, etc, to get it stable. do note that after unlocking, the specification of the proc in CPU-Z will be different. If u unlock a phenom II X2 550BE, u probably will get a Phenom II X4 B50 (u wont find this proc anywhere in the shops). It wont change to a familiar proc like Phenom II X4 940BE, etc. it really depends on ur luck, if u got the right proc, and the right mobo, and the right bios, unlocking it will be as easy as changing the date and time in ur bios. goodluck!! thumbup.gif

Like what? Megashadow and Megahalem consider as huge?

not sure, i'm not into oc and cooling. but just in case u're planning to overclock ur proc, u're probably gonna get a big hsf, so there would be less risk of the hsf not being able to fit into ur casing if u choose the haf922.

Ooh, thx for giv info. Btw, is there any differ in cooling rate of normal cooling and liquid cooling?
*
absolutely, liquid is usually better than air cooling. that's why it's also more expensive. if u're going for it, just make sure u assemble the cooling system properly so that there wont be a leak somewhere. even a tiny drop could result in a disaster. are u going to overclock anyway? if u're not, then i suggest using the stock cooling that comes with ur proc. unless u're using the hsf for bling2 purpose... brows.gif

yeah, that's why i said 'usually'... there are some cheap ones which works like crap... the one by xigmatek is quite disappointing, temps are just about the same as air cooling which costed only half as much... custom wc can be very expensive, but i dont think zeckt will have a prob with that.. tongue.gif

guys, i'm using an athlon II X2 240, and the stock heatsink looks kinda boring. but i dont wanna change the heatsink cos not enough $$$.... so i'm wondering, can i just change the fan on the heatsink? cos i've measured the fan and the measurement is 70x70mm. and it's hard to find a 70mm LED or UV fan... can an 80mm fan fit? any simple mods required? sweat.gif thanks!! biggrin.gif

just stick some 80mm fan on top... then u good to go..still the stock fan will be covered right?
*
hmm, actually i'm planning to remove the stock fan, and replace it with a 80mm fan. i probably can order a custom-made 70mm to 80mm converter from niclasteoh, but that's a bit costly... i'll try my luck with double sided tape. tongue.gif thanks anyway! biggrin.gif

Uh..but which side should I take it off?

I'd love to do that but is there any other way I could identify my PSU specs?? I'd prefer to do it all infront of my monitor  biggrin.gif
*
usually just take off the right side panel (if u're in front of the pc, then it's on ur left). just remove the 2 screws on the rear part of the side panel, and then u can see ur psu already. it's really easy, just try it.
