Actually it all boils down to the skills and experience of person who doing the job. If you are really worried, go for higher range tints and do it at the HQ itself.

Everything is explained clearly in here, together with the dyno results and comparisons.
Dont always say DOHC is better tahn SOHC.

for a stock engine, yes, SOHC can be on par with DOHC
but with minor modification, or cam shafts changed...whoala~ bye bye SOHC

K series engine already matured for long time while R series still new

actually there's no more room to modify on R series engine, it's a dead end engine compared to K series which having a wide range of modifications to do smile.gif

1. K&N Air Filter - Performance air filter; promotes better air flow (i.e. more efficient and effective than nomal paper filters. Hence resulting in more oxygen entering the engine so that fuel burns more efficiently. Also last longer, no need to change so often. Looks cool in the engine bay too. Conclusion: Increase horsepower and better fuel economy

2. Cold Air Intake (CAI) - Basically a device to bring in lower temp. air into the car's engine (basically funneling cold air to the air filter). Works the same as for #1, to increase horsepower through better efficiency. Theory is cooler air has higher density (greater mass per unit volume), more oxygen.. better combustion.

3. Heatshield - To attach to the air filter to keep out hot temperature around the engine bay area. Basically keeping the air as cool around the air filter area.

4. Iridium spark plugs - Last longer (no need to change so often). Improved ignition or combustion as the Iridium tip diameter is smaller than that of a standard plug hence reducing the likelihood of 'spark jump'. Hence supporse to increase power. IMHO, very marginal as new engines nowadays are very efficient. Want to buy 'cos it can last for 2 yrs without changing. The ones I'm using in my car 3 yrs already and still running well

5. Strut bar and lower arm bar - Better stability when cornering, in theory. For me, cool effect. When ppl open my engine bay. got that piece of metal from Ultra Racing..haha!

I'm a minimalist in terms to exterior mods.. prefer to keep it in the engine bay.

wow! take some photos and tell us the performance then. willing to follow u. item #1, #2, & #3 should come together right? will these things void the car warranty?
*
Well.. it's harder to source all 3 at once, maybe at Speedworks.
I wanna get the K&N Typhoon Kit
K&N CAI - Typhoon Kit

this one is for the Fit 1.5 >> K&N Typhoon Kit for Honda Fit

There's another CAI which draws cold air from outside, but might need to drill a hole into the front bumper to mount the tubing. But I don't think I'll do that, too sayang to spoil my bumper. rclxub.gif

Actually it shouldn't void the warranty. Basically HM needs to prove that ur modification was the cause of the car being damaged, if they cannot prove it..then we're ok. Say like if the suspension kong due to got defect, they cannot fault you 'cos you have a bolt on aftermarket air filter kit. So far, I haven't seen a full kit for the City. But since it's using the L15A engine from the Jazz, think should be able to fit. Performance will be a little only perhaps 5bhp, but the sound will be more garang cos can hear the air sucking into the intake..hehe thumbup.gif

As for Avanza, welcome to Malaysia. Innova and Avanza is one of the worst cars around and thanks to UMW, they made it here.

hey guys.. my SA called me today and he said when the 1st batch of new honda city is out, the previous gen of honda city will get discount up to 7k. =.=''
85.8k - 7k - RM625 = around RM78k plus 2 years free service = 1.5k
so it's only 76.5k for Honda City Vtec!! and will be getting car in 2 weeks time
Auooo.... those who bought few months ago, they gonna shout =.=''  doh.gif
*
WOW, 1 week ago they were only giving 3k discount and I was told the whole Malaysia only left about 7-8 units of th old city.

Anyway, where can we see all these car delivered? Would love to drop by and have a look at the new City with different colors for comparison.

Find out what brand is this guy offering. I rather pay a bit of a premium for a well known brand instead of a untested brand. Don't want to regret later

The engine noise will become quite apparent inside the cabin especially when you rev., this is due to the increase in air intake over the default airbox & slot in air filter, but it is not loud enough to affect your neighbours. Fuel consumption shouldn't really change a great deal.

However bear in mind, when you do slap in the CAI, there's a good chance that you might have to do modification because there's a good chance of it not fitting perfectly into the engine bay and depending on where they mount the air sensor module, that may require moving as well and I'm pretty sure doing so will void your car warranty.

Anson81: Well, I have one in a Putra at home (Open Pod K&N), the sound is apparent..but not very loud. It will definitely not disturb your neighbour. Anyway, the sound is kinda insulated to the engine compartment.. unless you change to those sport exhaust which has those "prraaappppt" sound. I wouldn't recommend that. If you don't want so much noise, you can just use a Drop-In K&N filter. Same dimension with the OEM air filter, but it's K&N. That's what I'm using in the Waja at home. Fuel consumption, if you drive normally..not apparent, but since the sound very "sedap, deep bassy sound", makes you wanna press the accelerator more..hehe!

zweimmk: Yeah, you're correct. That's why I need to see the K&N Typhoon Kit that is currently fitted in the 2nd Gen Jazz (L15A) and see whether the configuration is different with the new City. If I've to start moving things around, I will forego the CAI and just put in the Open Pod K&N and the Heat Shield.

I've been through your phase before with my old Vios - The best mods are exterior and I pretty much didn't bother tinkering with the engine except changing the default drop-in filter and adding a Voltage Stabilizer with grounding kit. Adding the UR strut bars and ARB should also dramatically improve the car's driving characteristics and stiffness. Taking corners will be a lot more fun!

Strut bars front and rear - RM 320 there abouts, the rear bar may require drilling. If you want something more expensive - then go for the racecraft carbon fiber strut bars

Anti-roll bar - RM 300+ depending on if you take 16mm or 19mm from UR.

Voltage stabilzer - RM210 ~ RM800, plenty to choose from but the best (most expensive) is the Inazama Hyper kit

Lowering the car suspension with either teins or Eibach pro-kit - easily 1k+

Change the rims - easily 1 to 3k

Install Bodykit - easily 1.5k

Autofoam your car - easily 3k if you go for the complete experience

Be warned, once you start - your wallet is going to start feeling empty for the next few months. laugh.gif
