daneva, the latest manila v3(TF3D) supports landscape mode. However, when rotate to landscape, the wallpaper become clipped. The links I provided fixed this landscape wallpaper problem. The fix will stretch the wallpaper in both portrait and landscape mode, and also makes *ALL* TF3D tabs' wallpaper changable too.

Those who refrained themselves from flashing to manila v3 / Topaz / Rhodium-based ROM, have less one reason from flashing liaozzz. biggrin.gif

personally I don't really like Davideuck's ROM. He has removed the original WM6 startup screen. How should I revert it back? which file should I keep / replace?

daneva, looks like the call duration problem is a true bug. it is displaying as HH:MM rather than MM:SS. Unfortunately I'm not a hacker to hack through all the manila files and find how to fix this... maybe search the XDA forum? wink.gif

?? your who insist you?

Goto Maxis Center and try on iPhone, then goto another HTC booth to try on Touch HD. Or you can search the web for objective comparison and review between iPhone and Touch HD.
My subjective opinion is... well, I wanted so badly to get an iPhone but it was not available in Malaysia. Then I got myself a Touch HD. Recently Maxis just released iPhone3G package, and I didn't feel any sorry or regret at all. wink.gif

Anyone here know the alternate way to display and input Chinese on HD other than using CE-Star?
Thanks.

Hi all sifu,

I have a question here regarding the Car Charger.

I bought a brand-X car cigarette lighter type USB charger from a shop in low yat last weekend, it jz the plug-head with USB port at the back, i want to use the ORIGINAL USB cable that bundled with our HD with this cigi-type charger head.

Since the car cigi socket output is DC12V-24V, and our HD required DC5.0V ± 0.5A, i wonder whether the combination of the charger and USB cable usage will be harmful to our HD? I don't want my HD to get burn because of the miss-use of the charger voltage...  blink.gif

Kindly share your idea and experience with me, as i need to travel outstation and need to use my HD as my sat nav.

Thanks in advanced!
*
If your Brand-X car charger is conformed with USB port, then surely it will have 5V output. That's the USB Standard! nod.gif But the charging rate maybe lower than 0.5A or EXCEEDING 0.5A! So you can surely use it to charge your phone, but maybe charge your phone at slower rate. If it exceed 0.5A charging rate, then it is a RISK to your phone!!!

"DC5.0V ± 0.5A", you sure boh? why got ± on current output? hmm.gif

I have compared with the wall-plug charger, the car charger, USB/MP3-to-FM car dongle and laptop USB port, the wall-plug charger has charging current about 0.6A, but the car charger only at around 0.35A. USB/MP3-to-FM car dongle around 0.2A, and my laptop's USB port can only charge around 0.25A. The discharge rate however, is around 0.2A with backlight on. Our battery is 1350mAh, or 1.35Ah, so if I left the backlight always on, then it would last only about 6.5 hours. If I use USB/MP3-to-FM, I can't really charge the phone at all while GPS-ing!

Just maths cool2.gif

Gabriel,
I am using Dutty 2.2 Extreme cooked ROM, and customize further to my personal usage, taste and satisfaction. It is by far the most stable ROM with Manila3D v2. But again, it is Microsoft OS - Windows Mobile. What can you expect from Microsoft?? Luckily WM6.1 didn't have BSOD, but occasionally you will still have program hang, crash, cannot run etc, but a reboot or soft-reset gets the way going.

zidane, AVI is just the "encapsulation" for the video file. The video format is encoded with specific video codec like XVID, DIVX, MPEG4, H.264 etc... Your Touch HD must have the respective video codec/decoder installed in order to playback the AVI files. Most AVI files downloaded from the net are of MPEG4 variant like DIVX or XVID, and the WM players like CorePlayer can support playback of these video content. So you'll have higher chance to just copy over AVI and playback on Touch HD.

I installed QuickMenu 2.8 and keep the new HTC Start Menu still accessible by tap & holding the Windows start icon. There I'll have both the old-style Start Menu and the HTC's so-called new Start Menu which is actually binding the Start button to the Program page. tongue.gif

the last version of HD_ManillaMods from mun_rus spoilt the new HTC Start Menu from being accessible from the Start button. Not sure it has been fixed or not. But if you switched back to Old Style start menu, then it doesn't matter anymore.

Added on March 20, 2009, 8:00 pmDutty 2.3 removed IE6 which supports Flash flawlessly, so that's too bad. I still can't get any Opera version to support Flash (or FlashLite to be exact). Anyone had a success story to have Opera (which version) to run Flash?

Decky,

it's all in XDA forum. Here's all about Blackstone ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=453 , it also teaches you how to flash ROM.

Try google for S2U2 instead, or search in XDA forum, you'll get the newest version...

Decky,

You should know that flashing custom ROM - void warranty.
Here is how I did it:

1. get HardSPL or USPL and flash it to your HD. detail instruction is given in the link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431217
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462347

2. rename your downloaded ROM *.nbh to BLACIMG.nbh and copy to \Storage Card folder. After that, uncheck "allow USB connections" in your ActiveSync (Windows XP) so you still can charge ur phone but no ActiveSync connection.

3. turn off your phone, and start your phone to flash mode by holding Volume-Down button and press Power button. Follow instruction so on. This will flash your ROM.

4. usually all ROM requires you to hard-reset. Turn off your phone again (by removing battery etc) after success flashing and start your phone by holding both Vol-Up and Vol-dn buttons and press the Power button. Follow instruction so on. This will hard-reset your ROM.

If you're not comfortable in doing it, don't do it. Any wrong step could brick your HD. (it sounds so catastrophic but the probability of that happens is very low as it's hardly for you to make any wrong step for flashing ROM... unless you take out battery during ROM flashing... )

Decky, why you can't upgrade your official ROM? What's the error message? Are you doing the right way?

Stock ROM is not that buggy, if it is, do a Hard-Reset (besure you backup your data first) and start all over.

If you can't upgrade / flash your official ROM, then you shouldn't be trying to flash custom ROM. Voiding warranty is one thing though, you still can flash back to official ROM to 'keep' the warranty before sending back for RMA, repair or fixes if anything happened.

what version is your stock ROM? have you ever browsed to XDA forum?

Hi Daneva,

I read from the devideuck and Dutty's XDA forum, a lot of ppl experience the same soft-key doesn;t refresh problem on the new manila version. thanks for posting the question in xda, i plan to do so but i was busy the whole weekend  sad.gif

About the mun_bgforall (backgroupd for all menu), i found that it clash with the new manila "Start" button, with bgforall running, the "start" menu seem like couldn't be display at all. for your case, i guess because u hv disable the new start menu that's y u r not experience the same problem.
to enable back the Program tab:
go to HKCU/Software/HTC/Manila/manila://programs.page.hidden, set the key to "0". please make sure HKCU/Software/HTC/Manila/Enablestartmenu is set to "1".

thanks!  smile.gif

Hi maesus,

Thanks for the reply.

No ler, the most around 200 and I dont use CE. Previously no problem with Davideuck V6.

Oh yeah, I saw yr reply in one of the Latest HD Radio 1.13.25.24 on "No GPS Bars on GarminXT", you seems very
knowledgeable. So how is the latest radio rom? I have dowloaded it and probably will install tomorrow.

BTW, do we need to hard reset after installing new radio rom?

Cheers...

hi daneva, Thanks for your compliment. I'm just an owner and user of Touch HD, just like you and others too. rclxm9.gif drool.gif

My first suspect is your contact list. When you pressed "0", it will try to filter and sort all "0" related contacts for you. That takes time. I really can't think of any other reasons yet... Maybe you can experiment: backup and empty your contact list, and see if it still reoccurs, or to rule out contact list problem. Then try to add in your contacts one or more and to see if there is one particular contact that's corrupted. Also must know that Davideuck v6 is using "old" manila, not the new manila with V3-HP. New manila could also be the culprit by itself.

About the new radio 1.13, no... I don't have good experience with this new radio. The 1.10 radio bundled with L26_THDV9.0_WWE_Ultimate worked the best for me. However I gatal tangan went to flash 1.13. The GPS signal bar problem is one, but it also lost signals after a few while, and it took a very long time to fix GPS. Maybe because I didn't Hard-Reset. Then I flashed "back" to 1.12, and it works better. What can I say?? shakehead.gif

Anyway, go ahead and flash it and give it a try. But it still doesn't have rilphone.dll for 1.13 yet. Maybe I'll give it a try again when the rilphone.dll file is out.

So hard-reset or not... up to you. smile.gif

I have flashed back to radio 1.13, from 1.12 + rilphone.dll (1.12). It works very good now.

OK, I have one problem, although I already have the solution but I don't like the way it works. Is there anyway to *manually* enable/disable cellular data connnection (like GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA etc) when I think there is a need to do that?

Right now, my solution is use Advanced Config 3.3 to disable "GPRS auto attach". This allows only MMS can work but no more GPRS stuff triggered from my phone. I have to turn it ON and soft-reset every time I want to get to use cellular data connectivity. So I thought of how about a manual "button" for me to turn ON /OFF without soft-reset?
