By the way, the PS3 supports USB keyboards and mice.

However, back to the topic. Most ppl who buy consoles aren't into the tweaking and upgrading efforts. Myself for example, now that I have a family it's difficult to allocate the budget to all the upgrades that will come with newer games. So I got myself a PS3. One time purchase, I know I'm good for at least 3-4 years. I know when I buy a game it will DEFINITELY WORK without cracking etc. For surfing, doing work, I bought a secondhand desktop for RM600. Good enough for me.

Again, it's the games that count. If you like RTS, then go for PC anyday. If you like what the offerings are on PS3 (Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet etc) then buy one.

I totally agree with you, with family, i do find is hard to upkeep your PC from time to time, especially software related. I dont even know how to format a PC, i humbly admit this. That is why, I wanted something which is much easier for me, load and play.
The real doubt i had now is the control, i know for now, only UT3 support k+m and i just dont like ps3 controller. My friend told me i will get use to it, i try dead space, and i like the m+k combo better than the controller pad.
And another thing is the most wanted games i am going to miss, which is diablo 3 and SC2, same goes to RA3 too.

However, thank for ther opinion posted so far. smile.gif

When D3 or Starcraft2 comes then get a mid range computer. It should be able to run both the games without a problem. And I agree with Lord_Ashe.

I just can't be bothered to upgrade the PC. Just pop and play, maybe for the install for some games. And I don't have to worry about it not working. It works 99.9% of the time!

I would suggest you get a PC. The reasons are:

1) Your playing style. If your play a lot of RTS and FPS. Keyboard and mouse is still the best.
2) PC graphics are quite good already. You don't need to play every game at highest setting.
3) PC can be used for other things too like word processing, bittorrent, programming, graphics etc
4) Its easier to repair a broken PC. Buy a new component and put it in.
5) If you're they type of people that like to hack the games for money, item etc. PC is easier to do with memory editors available.
6) The original games for PC is still cheaper than PS3. Not to mention there are even more *ahem* game for PC
7) Try to learn how PC works. It might pave a way for a good career.

I had both PC and PS3, basically FPS game would be in PC. I only use PS3 to play those JRPGs or those game that is not available at PC platform.
For example. PC version of fallout3 looks better than PS3 and have DLC too.

I still think its wierd to connect a PC to a LCD TV. maybe its just me being wierd. haha

I dont want to play any RTS on consoles.

I played UaW and it just feels so wrong. The army is so small and it just dont feel RTS enough for me.

Yea, but sometimes it kinda sucks that you know you're not playing to the max capacity the game can give.  tongue.gif

Still, most of the time, the max setting and high setting have very difference in visual quality.

Med-High is good enough for me,as long as i get to see all the eye candies.

If you are noob in adjusting for performance, you can come here to ask for some help on tweaking the game.

I do think that you should get a PC,as you like RTS games and keyboard/mouse controls. If not,get a mid range 2k com when SC2 or D3 release and get a PS3 now to play PS3 games. There isnt much nice RTS coming out soon, other than DoW2 and Empire:Total War.SC2,dunno when.Very little info now.

Anyway,please support ori.Less hassle,more fun.

most RTS you don't have time to enjoy eye-candy until either

a) you're watching a slow crumbling of your opponent.

b) you're watching a slow crumbling of yourself tongue.gif

c) you and your opponent are those that like to sit back, defend kau kau super kau kau and barely not even initiating attacks.

haha.

haha. quite funny when people exhaust all resources and have lotsa buildings and units.

then basically it end up being chess pieces. try to wipe off the other with all you have.

we should continue here for RTS - http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/842374 tongue.gif

anyway i think choice of game is easiest way to determine what you should get.

for me

games = xbox360
blue-ray = of course, PS3 ......... with GT HD. looks nice.
fun fun fun = wii

arrghh. choices

actually if buy console, less money to do upgrading work.i think console last longer in terms of availability. look at PS2 now. how many years already and its still selling outside there.games also tonnes of them still. even need for speed undercover also available for PS2 (although graphics do sux compare to PC,but then, i play wif max setting wif a mainstream Graphic card also not tht fast, 20-40++ fps).

for me, i'll see wat kind of game to play. if those fighting game like tekken, king of fighter and upcoming street fighter 4, hv to buy console already. PC dun hv these. or if u like gran turismo racing game series from PS1 days, PS3 is ur only choice since its exclusive for PS3.

for PC, i think u need to buy a new monitor also. u said u hv a 37inch LCD TV. if u hook it to ur PC, it will require a good graphic card to support it since i feel tht its using very high resolution which a mid range pc can hardly handle.

the life line for console estimate is around 8 years from the launching of the product. for pc, i feel tht its only abt 5 years for a mid range pc from my own experience.nowadays i tot PS3 also can surf internet? even a PSP also has a browser.btw, i dun think PS4 is going to launch anytime soon. the PSP2 (not PSP-2000 or PSP slim,i'm talking abt the upcoming dual screen PSP and its not nintendo DS) also hvnt come out yet. it was said to be a perfect 'partner' for PS3.

that's cos probably your friends aren't WII guys!! biggrin.gif they regret doesn't mean the product is bad, they regret could mean they're just lousy consumers, isn't it?

IMO WII / PS3 / XBOX are all a matter of preference.
