hmmm, interesting ... but rawfish ... i don't think the benefit of super armor property is anything like kara-throw ... it actually sort of hit confirm. For the example u provided with abel, just imagine abel is receiving a BnB block string from ryu/ken (jump in RH, low FW cancel into hadoken) this super armor seems to be very useful as it sort of interrupt the block string and ultra while ryu still recovering from hadoken, scary !!! Without super armor, i don't think abel is able to ultra thru that BnB block string...
and for gief, OMG ... that means he can ultra any pokes !!!
in conclusion, i believe the main gain is frame advantage rather than distance
Yes.. let's discuss! I find the super armor bug is something like parrying ala SF3:3S and should definitely provide frame advantage.. and is performed LIKE a kara throw. To the benefit of everyone (example = Boxer), it's like:
QUOTE
Charge B, F, B+PP (for EX Dash Punch), instant F+PPP for cancel into Ultra. The kara-like Ultra will ONLY come out if the 1st hit of the EX Dash Punch absorbs a hit e.g. fireball
Hence I'm not sure if someone can perform it as a hit confirmation due to the small frame window needed. Waitaminute... Mike I see your point. If it absorbs a non-fireball hit only then the Ultra will come out, instantly punishing the opponent's poke.
I can think of a use now, as a 'safety net' for Ultras:
By doing this, if the enemy pokes, their hit is absorbed by Super Armor thus gets punished by the Ultra, which would only come out in this situation. Some Ultras have weak startups, like Abel's Heartless. Scenario: Abel does wake up Ultra against Gief's lariat, the lariat wins. If Abel does wake up QCF+PP to kara Ultra, he absorbs the 1st lariat hit then punishes Gief with Ultra. The only drawback is if you fail to Ultra you will eat a hefty 2-hit lariat with counter damage. Theory only k??
My main thoughts: is it WORTH the effort/risk? For your example Mike, if you can perform the Super Armor bug against the ryu/ken's low FK > hadouken blockstring, you can simply use Ultra anyway... which would come out as a Reversal.
For Gief, does his Ultra lose to Akuma's HP dragon punch? If he can absorb the 1st hit and proceed to Ultra it will be a nightmare - and hard to execute too. Not sure if you need to use EX Green Hand or EX 360K (far) for the Super Armor....
