fremont, thanks for the games yesterday ... the first few match were damn slow mo muahahhaha

the second time we tested i feel much better with pretty smooth game ... only if ALL friends have patience/understanding like u and jin ...

i'm not sure bout u guys, but for me playing online is not ALL about winning and loosing due to slight lags is normal. But for some people here, sigh ... I think i better play offline ...

yeah man, it was like the speed was negative 3.......most of the moves cannot execute, unless i do it slow mo also....

yeah.. I second that.. sometime when fighting people with 1 bar connectivity, the game tends to slow...

I'm trying to main other characters now... would like to work on abel first... If you all got the time, lets spar together...

I do agree with Mike and Fremont, playing online is most definitely not mainly about winning or performing your absolute best, but much more about learning/training (new tricks/combo/ etc), having a laugh or just making friends. I have always considered online matches as friendlies, where we have fun and share knowledge rather than an intense battle/ tournament. That is why, I prefer spectating matches in SFIIHDR, which I find SF4 is seriously lacking. Anyway to each their own.

Though I must admit the lag sometimes frustrates the best of us, especially when your inputs for SF4 just refuses to come out, or when you are at the receiving end of impossible moves in SF2HDR, but I feel that is the price you sometimes have to pay for the convenience of playing online at home, on your comfy sofa.

Oh, let me also thank some of you all, for your patience of spamming invites after invites and waiting for me to connect. My line has been absolutely horrendous this past few days! Strangely though, I have a few friends who have no problems at all connecting to me with just a single invite rclxub.gif and am to date, still trying to figure out how we can connect so easily!

Yah.. lag is something to be expected, and I'm guilty of complaining of it sometimes too but after few slo-mo games, no feeling already as I feel privileged to fight with someone who can put up with it too - so it works both ways biggrin.gif

I find people here having plenty of respect for each other so win or lose the match, we all win, in the sense we gain from the experience. People in ranked matches tend to quit more while they are losing, in the effort to not lose their miserable BPs - which is not a true gauge on how good you are.

No top-player is "in-des-tructableee" (sing along now) so everyone has definitely a winning chance provided they do research, train and collect more experience with their chosen character. Just sharing, I myself love doing research and tend to be an analytical fighter. Besides just brawling and learning from experience, I analyse match videos and adopt best practice, visit other sites for moves with frame advantages and match-ups, character-specific discussions, etc. But does this make me a better fighter? Not at all, and never will. You may know the tools but it's entirely up to you on how you use it. That's where experience comes to play. For me and the rest here, even champions, we're always learning.

TristanX (Ken) got to where he did because of his vast experience and he knew his character(s) well, as with matchups (being careful vs Blanka, playing range vs Gief, etc). Kenneth (Ryu) won because of similar values too, and was given more openings. Fair play, I would say.

But ultimately to re-quote our motto, "SF binds friendship"!

At first I didn't think a game could bond friendship, furthermore a fighting game... but now I know that it does... anyway... I'll be back on wifi for the time being and the line will suck... this is a sacrifice I must make to pursue a project of mine.. anyway... got game? just invite for gaduh and we will see lar.. if the connection so bad... then won't play for a while...

Added on March 4, 2009, 5:28 pmanother thing mikee.... I think we need to change the name of the topic... Street Fighter (The Remixers Community)... laugh.gif

just a suggestion oni... hihihi~

Dun lar, lykiat biggrin.gif. As squall said it'll be great if more people can join the lobby and have the winner-stays system like SFHD.

Actually I need a favour from any of you, and I will repay the same. I am trophy-whoring now and besides clearing the %^$%^*$* Hard Trial Challenge mode I need to get 10 straight wins over Ranked matches. As you know, getting matches which are +2 bars and above AND being able to connect to the person is darn hard already, AND even more challenging when the connection gets laggy.

Attempt #1: Used Dictator to beat 7 people, 8th person laggy hence I could not even punish a missed EX dragon punch (the person did not know how to play, was spamming DPs). Lost in the end.

Attempt #2: Used Dic again and matches were harder to find. By the 5th match I wanted to get it over with and used Gief coz even if laggy I can at least punish people without basic combos. 7th person used Seth and kept spamming Sonic Booms and fwd+HP (Dhalsim's long hands) from far, and Teleport each time I got near. Lost like that, in the lag too - bah.

2 Hours Later...

Attempt #3: Tried a different approach. I did a search filter for "non-lobby" matches, which means I will fight people who allow themselves to be challenged during Arcade mode. I assume people waiting in the Lobby will be more battle hungry and skilled. Furthermore, I looked specifically for 1-round matches, which newbies tend to go for in Arcade mode to unlock characters - no other reasons for 1-rounds. Fought my way to the 8th opponent, with 3+ bars, and got defeated by his/her Chun Li. She was played Japanese style rushdown/defence e.g. d+lk x3 in corner, EX lightning legs to Ultra in corner. Mati without any 2nd round chance to comeback.

The most painful part is actually refreshing the available opponents and actually getting to connect to them.

So... anyone willing to create a ranked lobby with 1 round, in some obscure language, with the least number of seconds, and hopefully my search will pick you up? Need 10 wins. Then if the person also wants, I will do the same of course.

PS: Mike.. to get a rough idea on how to use new chars i usually will watch the Japs on Youtube then adopt their best practice. Then develop my own style lo. At least to get a rough idea on how they are best played. Some characters have an impossible learning curve e.g. Tetsuo's El Fuerte!

Other than that for some chars, the trick is to find a few simple, practical combos to use when got opportunity. And also few moves with quick recovery... SPAM IT!

I got no prob helping you out as well and ease the drain on Mike's BP.

I had managed to get that trophy recently, but during my quest I realised that the bars are not directly related to lag. 7 out of all my consecutive ranked wins were from no bars connection of which 6 were practically lag free! In fact the match which I nearly lost due to lag was a 4 bar match rclxub.gif. FYI all my ranked wins were challenges from the arcade mode at the hardest setting, best of 3 99 secs rounds. Maybe you might want to test out playing bar-less ranked challengers and see how it goes before we assist you tongue.gif ?

Anyway might need your advise later on some of the challenge mode trials both normal and hard. Can't seem to complete them even with videos (oh till my TE stick arrives am still using my good olde DS3) and that ken hard trial 5 is crazy! I still got 8 trophies left. Oh if you got any problems with the hard time or survival challenges just use Gief, his lariat plus double head butt sure stun move makes it a breeze.

jin, the actual problem for survival and time challenge is not the challenge itself, its the amount of time you need to invest into it hahahha

on certain stages, it would take more than 25 stages !!! crazyyyyyy .... i stopped survival and time after i got all the colors ahhaha

you are correct about the bars !! i'd even experience a LAGLESS blinking antenna hahahaha (no bar at all)

jin ... later try game with u again ...
