Some Celcom Broadband subscribers just don't know what they're dealing with. Actually they're buying a tiny 10G worth of internet usage for RM98 package, means that it's not so-called UNLIMITED ohmy.gif .

Within 0-10G usage, you'll get speed ranging 15-160kbps(speed varies on location). But after you've exceed that limit, it's a no-no to surf, almost impossible. It'll drop to 10-15kbps afterward. vmad.gif

What's even greater is, the promoter guy I've talked to didn't even know anything about the Celcom's Fair Usage Policy. shakehead.gif

So, it's nice to puzzle him with his own core-business. flex.gif

Well, it isn't surprising that they do not know about the fair usage policy since it is usually "hidden" in their website. You will have to really look for it carefully and what's more is that most people don't bother reading something full with words.

sign up another new line biggrin.gif

or try U-mobile @ rm68/mth ( HSDPA rclxms.gif ).........so called "unlimited"
now testing to leech as much as possible till it stops by U's 5GB policy ( which many U users claim still not enforce yet )

If there is way, do let me know too.
There is no way. smile.gif

I begin to suspect my line got capped because I was watching P2P streaming, before this I never tried this kind of programs. I was using only BT client to download my series.
Now I regret and I think I won't try for the second time when my line is uncapped...

Well there is no way you can do that and even if you can it would involve hacking already and it is illegal so just forget it and live with the limit. smile.gif

What modem are you using? By right, you should be able to select from the Settings option and choose only UMTS. smile.gif

It's the latest one...the Vodafone one...I'll try it later happy.gif

Thanks for the info! biggrin.gif

Yeaa...I was somehow tricked into getting Celcom...the promoter claimed it was unlimited, then I installed the application that comes with the modem and I saw the usage bar and went back to find the promoter the next day to ask about it... He then said oh, but it's unlimited! After you use up 5GB, your speed will be slowed down, but it's still usable! I'm starting to doubt that the speed after it's capped is still usable after reading the posts here...I'm using D98 btw..

First of all yes it is unlimited as you can use it 24 hours and still be charged at either RM68 or RM98 monthly. The only thing is that there is the Fair Usage Policy. It can still be claimed as unlimited since you do not get disconnected nor barred from using it when you touch the limit.

If the upload speed is that terrible, usually web browsing will be slightly affected too since data has to be send from your side as well.

Well since it is only 7kbps, even when you click Add Reply you will still need to send the request to the server so with speeds this slow, it is amazing that you are still surviving with it. biggrin.gif

As long as you are able to use it without much frustration especially when the download speed is similar to what a 1mbps connection can achieve and the ping to a local server is about 300ms, everything should be tolerable.
