I always thought that road user are ignorant and stupid for using double signal light and driving their car during rain. As radio have said that many time it was only for stop vechicle etc. But last weekend, i kena a case. It's like this. My car having some problem and i thought it was engine problem as it have loud weird noise. I am so afraid to drive but still need to drive to the nearest workshop. So i drive real slooooowwww and car started to honk me while at traffic light etc. So my question is, can i put double signal light and move my car slowy to indicate my car having problem and i need to move very slow? Is this ok? If without puting double signal light, i really duno what to do to liau. Please advise.

Its a HAZARD light, the name speak for itself.
For me, yeah, your having problem with your car, but you are not going to stop, you put on ur hazard light to indicate you are having problem with your car and moving slowly on the emergency lane/left lane, other car have no right to honk you. Once, I even saw police car come to assist a car in your situation, by following from behind. If that car does something wrong that police should ask him/her to stop but they did not, so I guess its not wrong.
If I were you I will ask the one who honk you is he stupid or what?
Added on November 24, 2008, 1:24 pmand yeah its more dangerous if you move slowly without putting on ur hazard light, as people coming at you fast cant really notice you are moving slow, so hazard light will make people be alert when approaching your car

If put double signal means the car is already spoiled and "Stopped" ~~
but i've seen a number of car users on it when they drive on highway during really terribly heavy rain season ~~ tat's for safety to increase visibility~
for your case, actually there's no rule that says cannot on hazard light to indicate that the car is having some problem and thus moving very slowly ~ though it might cause some confusion for other road users, it will warn them beforehand so that they no need to horn their car ~~
IMO, better on the hazard like to give notification to other road users so that they know you dun slow down on purpose ~~

If you are moving very - very slow, and consider yourself to be a hazard for the rest us, you are welcome to use it.
I only use it like in your case, stopping beside the road to make a call, or stopping abruptly cause the car infront also emergency brake.
But I've seen some ppl using it as a thank you sign also...like after cutting in to a corner or lane.

Hmm, icic, in this case i will note it. Btw, even how heavy rain it is, i dun think it's appropiate to use double signal light. Many time have the radio said that do not turn on your hazard light when ur vechicle is moving.

QUOTE(Killerz622 @ Nov 24 2008, 01:37 PM) How bout using double signal during convoy? I would think that is only acceptable if it's a police-escorted convoy. Otherwise, anyone could simply abuse it. I frequently see police-escorted convoys with hazard lights on. I've been in a police escorted convoy in Thailand (club drives from Malaysia, escorted on Thai-side by Thai tourist police) where the convoy vehicles were asked by the Thai police to turn on the hazard lights as we were supposed to follow the police cars and not stop at red lights.

Turn the hazards on for two blinks after cutting in, Japanese-style. They're so polite there even the taxi drivers do it. I don't think it's very understood here, though. Also, I use the hazards occasionally in one particular place: Lebuhraya Mahameru from Parliament to PWTC, just before it passes over Jalan Kuching. There's a easy left bend to the road, and with high central divider hedge, you can't really see the car in front of you if there's too big a gap. People tend to come in too fast, and suddenly there's the infamous jam, and they have to slow down very very sharply, especially because the bend is blind and you don't really see the jam sometimes until it's nearly too late. So I double-blink the hazards as a warning to the cars behind that there's a very abrupt stop coming up.

but some ppl dun really give a damn if u turn on the hazard lights when u are really in the emergency status..they even try to block u from overtaking them.. this ppl really should learn or maybe try to respect other ppl when they are in the emergency and also doesn't harm to give way. maybe someone inside the car got to rush home or rush to the hospital for treatment.. but some ppl simply use it..just for fun i think..

I'm sorry but there has been a thousand and one hazard light discussion. We know idiots still use them in the rain. We know idiots still use them when their car is not stationary but there is really nothing left to discussion. You can pull out the old topic and continue there but it's not going to end. We can't educate every idiot out there.
