QUOTE(aragonlee @ Feb 11 2009, 10:41 PM) i am not sure about the price of others i bought my white ms for 2.5k(comes with cage and other necessities) Wow, that is a really high price for a white Min. Schnauzer. I'm assuming Kenji does not have an MKA cert, since white Min. Schnauzers are not recognized by MKA?This post has been edited by Rayne: Feb 11 2009, 11:14 PM |

QUOTE(aragonlee @ Feb 11 2009, 11:09 PM) Ya. Because they say white colour are very rare in Malaysia that why expensive. Ya, Kenji don't have MKA cert because white MS are not recognized by MKA. But in other country like USA they do recognized White MS. Some white ms will have MKA cert but stated there " salt and pepper". Wah, like that also can ar? |

QUOTE(h71y6 @ Feb 12 2009, 10:38 AM) On another note: I heard of the show too, but I don't have Astro to watch it. Have you guys been watching Great American Dog reality show on Starworld? It's a kewl show for dog lovers. I actually got inspired more by the show and i taught my dog new tricks: 1. Up, Turn! - Kimi stands and spins according to how many loops i make with my hand. 2. Bang Bang!! - Kimi starts a slow death. She goes prone, turns slowly to her side, and slowly plays dead. she'll stay there until i say Up. 3. Leave it - i always used the same No command for leaving things, so i decided after seeing the show to use a different command. Anyone has other trick ideas i can teach her? Re: the Up, Turn! trick, do you teach Kimi to stand on two legs or she will stand like normal and turn? That trick sounds interesting |

QUOTE(Vickie @ Feb 12 2009, 11:14 AM) Wow... the white MS and solid black MS are very cute la... Not sure...probably, coz most of the Min. Schnauzers I got to see in person were Salt & Pepper or Black & Silver. The only black solid ones I saw were in a confirmation show. White ones only on photos...As i know is hard to get solid colour MS, is it? I need some help! My puffy very naughty recently. She can climb up to bite something from the table e.g. wallet. Then she will bring the wallet up to the chair and start to bite it till broke. I scold her hardly and punch her then lock her in cage also no used on her because she repeating the same act. Can anybody suggest me some way to teach on her behavior? My trainer suggested using ground chillies' juice, diluted with water and spray on areas that you don't want your puppy to bite. If she bites your old wallet again, spray it with the mixture, then take like a drop of that mixture and smear it on your puppy's tongue. She would definitely feel the spiciness and smell the wallet's new 'smell'. After that, she probably wouldn't want to bite other things with that smell since it reminds her of that nasty experience. I have yet to try this method though coz I'm very lucky in the sense that Scottie has been a very well-behaved and gentle boy since puppy. He doesn't bite other things in the house except soft toys and rubber toys, so I don't have to do any proofing. But my trainer does it all the time for new puppies who bite, and he's been training for more than 30 years, so I guess it's worth a try |

QUOTE(Vickie @ Feb 12 2009, 11:36 AM) haiz.. my puffy can not leh.... i use both hard and soft way.. she still repeating same act to me.. Ermm...I don't think OB teaches that, but they do teach the dogs to 'Leave It', as in when presented with a distraction (like another dog walking by, food, etc), we tell the dog to Leave It, and they don't go after that distraction. No puppy proofing or toilet training...that you would have to learn from books or the Internet I guess.thinking need bring her go attend OB class but i unemployed now... |

QUOTE(Vickie @ Feb 12 2009, 11:43 AM) The chillies you need to use is fresh chillies...tumbuk them until got juice, and use ONLY the juice to dilute in water...use a bit more water than the chillies' portion though. We just want it to be nasty, but not too nasty it spoils the dog's tongue. |

I was wondering if we can bring our doggies there for walks ar? I like the sceneries there, and thought of taking Scottie there to take photos but not sure if I will get halau by the guards anot. If you've been there, did you manage to see any signs saying no pets allowed? |

QUOTE(aragonlee @ Feb 12 2009, 12:42 PM) hi, ya both my dogs are taking "Fitness" kibbles now.....only my other dog (bebe) is very choosy for his food he doesn't eat unless he is really hungry. =.= he will only eat a new pack of food (different brand) for 2 meals on the 3rd meal he will leave the food there till night or midnight only he will finish it. Oh no...you shouldn't leave Bebe's food out and let him choose when to eat and when not to eat. That is why he choosy lo...you manja him too much ady QUOTE(aragonlee) yayaya have a cheras area gathering....i am desperate for some one who can show me how to train Kenji. He is always howling( like singing). When bebe stay with him he will keep quiet but when bebe comes and sit with me kenji will make lots of noise. Its going to be distracting and irritating for the neighbours. its weird because we dont really understand what he wants yet, when i put him in the cage he barks, when i let him out he will bark i let him play with bebe he will bark, i carry him he will also bark. Hehe...puppies are always jealous and VERY attention-seeking, which is why they cry/bark/whine when they see us playing with the other dogs. I experienced this with Scottie's puppies when they were with me =.= hard to understand what he is trying to portray hahaha...any1 speaks puppy language? Added on February 12, 2009, 2:30 pm QUOTE(h71y6 @ Feb 12 2009, 01:55 PM) Anyways, guys and gals, i found out that according to a ranking (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Intelligence_of_Dogs), MS is #12 in intelligence which is pretty impressive!! Here here...It says it will learn a command >85% of the time in 5-15 repetitions!! I can vouch for that. This post has been edited by Rayne: Feb 12 2009, 02:30 PM |

Okay, I can't really explain how to teach the quiet command, so I found this link which just about tells it right, except that now when Scottie barks too much / too loud, I have to literally shout out the command.

QUOTE(h71y6 @ Feb 12 2009, 02:52 PM) I think you need 2 things... one to stop barking.. and one to bark. We can also distract our dogs from barking at whatever is agitating him. Can't have one without the other i think. If you teach Toro to bark, maybe he will stop. |

QUOTE(aragonlee @ Feb 12 2009, 02:54 PM) lol ya i have tried that method many times. he can starve himself for 2 days on the 2nd day (midnight) only he will eat. but now with kenji around he will eat his food a bit. Because kenji will try his best to run to bebe's bowl once he finishes his. lol.... I have heard of dogs that purposely won't eat for 3-4 days, after which they cannot tahan they will eat. It's a method people call 'tough love'. It might seem cruel, but we have to be firm sometimes. Main objective of training is to ensure WE get the desired behavior from our dogs, not the other way around (quote from my trainer). Allowing the dog to dictate when or what to eat is THEM training us already... |

Well, if Bebe will only eat at the stroke of midnight on the 2nd day, I think you can extend the tough love until 3rd day morning to feed him.
BTW, my name is Audrey |
