Hi there,

Just thought I'd pop in and introduce myself and my Schnauzer darling too...smile.gif My name is Audrey and I have a male Salt & Pepper named Scottie smile.gif I read about the gathering on the 8th February. Would love to join, but I have training with Scottie at 8.30am...what time usually does a gathering last? Maybe if I finish early I can pop by Bandar Utama to socialize with you guys...it's been a while since I've chatted with fellow MS owners smile.gif

@audrey, added you into the list.

What training are you sending Scottie to? OB or Agility? Is it the one with petnyou?
*
Thanks, iluv2zzz! smile.gif May I know your name? I feel a bit weird calling people by their usernames...haha!

Currently, I'm sending Scottie for OB with Puppy.com at Ampang. smile.gif Where does petnyou hold their OB sessions?

I'm Yen Lu. Petnyou held around Sri Damansara. I forget the exact location. You can check at their website... http://www.petnyou.com.my/ if not mistaken.

Yeah, I agree that the pup would be 3 months old. A 3-week-old pup is too young to leave the mother smile.gif 3 months old is probably the ideal age for a puppy to be released to a new home

Oh, right! Hi! I forgot...LOL! Thanks for reminding me smile.gif

You mean the training fees? Currently, the fees for Scottie's level (Novice) in Puppy.com is RM250 for non-members. Members' fee is RM200. The fees are the same for Basic and Pre-Novice levels. Intermediate classes are RM400. You can check out the training classes and their fees here: http://www.puppy.com.my/ob/

Edit: When I mention members' fees, it means that if you are a member, the fees for a training course is RM200. The members registration fee itself is RM50.

Yeah, they increased the price already...sad.gif Last time it was RM150 for the Basic, Pre-Novice and Novice levels (Members' fee). But then I kind of liked my current trainer, so I stuck with them smile.gif

Scottie is turning 2 years old in April...I started sending him for training after his 3rd vaccination, which is when he was about 4 months old if I remember correctly...smile.gif I'm a bad handler, I guess...he failed his Novice graduation exam twice...>.<" Now is his third time re-sitting the class. sad.gif But they say, 'Third time's the charm' so I hope this is true...LOL!

Wow, Pahang is quite far leh to drive all the way to KL every week. Maybe you could ask around to see if there are trainers in Pahang?

Yes,Scottie has been training for more than a year...smile.gif I like to think that training is like our schools, we're forever learning. smile.gif I learnt a lot from my current trainer (I had a different trainer for Scottie's Basic and Pre-Novice classes), and he told me he's STILL learning, even after more than 20 years of training dogs...smile.gif Yeah,I paid for the lessons when Scottie failed. The RM250 is actually for one course, which consists of 10 lessons. Each lesson is one hour, but in my case my trainer has been very flexible...hehe! He lets me stay back to train some more with the other classes, so I get more than 1 hour's training every week usually...wink.gif

As far as I am concern, no trainer around my place here.

Great that the trainer is being nice with you  tongue.gif  Well someday when I got the chance  wink.gif Did you send Scottie for agility?
Really? sad.gif that's too bad...hopefully you'll be able to find a good trainer soon smile.gif

Nah, not planning to send Scottie for agility yet...I DID think of it, but my trainer advised against it for now, coz we don't want to confuse his OB training with the agility training. So, if he passes his Novice course, I might consider sending him for agility smile.gif

I don't think it is abnormal, coz dogs reach sexual maturity between 6 months to 1 year old. The naughty act might also mean that your pup is trying to dominate your husband....I've seen this happen before between Kenji (my sister's Chihuahua) and Scottie. Kenji always tries to 'hump' Scottie whenever Scottie lies down...not because he's 'gay' (I wonder if there's such a thing. LOL!) but he's trying to show that he(Kenji) is dominant over Scottie.

Was Snowy on heat at the time? If not, Snowy won't get pregnant wan...also, at 6 & 7 months old, they might probably want to, but usually cannot coz they're still too young and doesn't know how to actually 'do it' yet...no worries smile.gif

how you the male and female is heat?
The male doesn't have a heat cycle. Only the female does. When we say the female is on heat, it's like women having their periods. You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canine_reproduction

Hope that helps smile.gif

Hi there,

I've got some photos here from the outing to share...smile.gif I'm not a good photographer either...got too many doggie butt shots...LOL! But here are some of my favourite ones...smile.gif I've resized the photos, coz the original ones are like 1+ MB each blush.gif So, if you want the originals (which are not watermarked), please do let me know by replying here with your email address and the photos that you like, and I will email them to you smile.gif

Aww...sorry I missed meeting you too! I was supposed to come much earlier than I did, but my trainer came late also, so the class ended late. By the time I rushed to BU, I was so worried everybody left already coz it was getting quite hot. Hopefully there'll be another gathering soon, and I can make it...biggrin.gif

Thanks for the compliment on Scottie...Is Wilbur in Winnie's photos? There are so many, I don't recognise who is who...:heh:

I don't think we can just judge a dog like that to say that he/she is fat. smile.gif The best way is to feel the ribs of your dog. If you put a little bit of pressure and then can feel the rib bones, then your dog is just right. If you just touch your dog's side already can feel the bones, then your dog needs to put on weight. If you put pressure and still cannot feel any bones at the sides, then your dog is too fat. tongue.gif

Wikipedia states that the ideal weights for Min. Schnauzers are:
Male 12 to 15 lb (5.4 to 6.8 kg)
Female 11 to 13 lb (5.0 to 5.9 kg)

BTW, Scottie is almost 2 years old and he weighs about 6.7 kg last time I weighed him smile.gif
