9950 x4core looks really good! definatly the way to go!, 2.6ghz stock - easily overclockable past 3.00ghz?

i may be really stupid (i hope not) but i checked on newegg's website, i dont think they deliver to the UK?....but have found a UK site within the last 2mins which list this Black Edition CPU for around £136 + delivery in UK - bonus!

also found 2 different black edition 9950's: one being 125w and the other 140w, both 65nm technology, which in your professional eyes would be better everyday use and overclocking?

my board is MSI K9A2 platinum 790FX board with heat pipes and nb cooler, but would u suggest an aftermarket 3rd party cooler, or really cold passive cooling? at moment with my current cpu my N/B temps are around 29*load

thanks again for your help. i will hopefully be getting this x4 core chip in the next couple of weeks and then back to the drawing board, and my never ending quest to make things faster!!

also i suppose that means if i can grab a stable bios for my board using 1066 ram without the bug, i can increase the overclocking headroom even more by dropping dividers cant i?

thumbup.gif its all fun + games aint it!?!?! thumbup.gif

Guys some question, should I run 333x9 instead of 300x10? I'll get better memory speed if I done so (856MHz instead of 750MHz) but I don't think it will give any improvements. Anyone done this before?

I'll try to tighten the timing a little bit, I don't know if Hynix FP-Y5 module can handle 4-4-4-12 2T at 750MHz though

I know all the tricks actually, I tried 400x8 before, it can't boot, at most it reaches 380-ish I think. I don't think I wanted to maxed everything, my CPU can reach 3.2GHz at 1.4125V, I think it can go higher but I don't want it to roast everything in the process laugh.gif

My Hynix FP-Y5 maxed at 900MHz 5-5-5-15 2T @ 1.95V. Now I tried to tighten the timing, it can only reaches 5-5-4-12 2T @ 750MHz, SuperPI 1M only shaves mere .02 sec laugh.gif

My heavy overclocking days is over...my PC now only serve the purpose to play some games (CnC3 KW, Max Payne 1 and 2) while chatting on Skype biggrin.gif

thn aft that lower down for normal or game usage.. smile.gif OC too much will shorten proc life span.. and to be sure the heat and curent usage...
lower down can save a lot curent usage for long run... laugh.gif

Prob maybe with my HD3850 suck much power than expected..
