hi all,

i in online store plan to buy imac rm4899. i thinking whether to upgrade processor to i5 or upgrade memory to 8gb. hard to decide. another thing is i thinking should i buy apple care plan. all are expensive. must think and think again. anyone can give me tips/opinion/recommend ?

Always buy AppleCare on ur last 1-2 months warranty period, who knows u might sell it off after a few months laugh.gif

Yup it's stated in apple's website smile.gif
Btw I think u should upgrade the processor instead of the ram. Ram can easily add yourself.....

Now you can order online and get them delivered to your home. And they also do iPod engraving. Awesome.

u need to remove the lcd 1st.

@ gurus um... AFAIK, Mac processors are not a user-accessible part. the proc upgrade is done in the factory, IINM. I'd recommend wah chai to get ACPP...

@ wah chai i'll apologise for being direct, but your method of asking is a bit unhelpful. its like walking into a shoe store and asking "what shoe is good?"

it depends on what you want. if you use your Mac for websurfing, iLife and MS Office, 4GB RAM is more than enough.

if you plan to do movie editing etc, get the i7 so that you can do more editing and processing in a shorter time.

if you can't afford possible repairs / failures of your Mac, then definitely get AppleCare ...

but if you just come in and say "I got no money, but I don't know what to buy" ... no one can help you smile.gif

Wait for a while, the new imac will probably coming real soon now .. checking macrumors, someone predicting that it will be early next month.. so, hold your purchase..

for gaming, most games today are still 32-bit, so more than 4GB will not be accessible. please be more specific... what do you want to do with your Mac?

hi all,
i wanted to ask, if i want to buy an IMAC through the education discount, do i really need to eligible as the 1 education staff or student uni or college to qualify for this purchase?
what if i still purchase if i'm not eligible. what will happen when i purchase?

so you mean that you did purchased using the education discount even you not a students right?
i did tried to add in my Cart and checkout, hence the only thing mention in the shipping address is the the school and college column with is OPTIONAL to be fill in.
