Just go to the apple store website, click on educational store link and order it there. They're not asking for your student ID just yet.. probably they'll do before they charge your card or something .. but for my daughter's MB using my wife's credit card & email address, they never asked anything

It depends .. my newly ordered MBP comes from Singapore but the MB white that I ordered for my daughter came from Shanghai .. the same as my old MBP when I ordered while I was in UK, it came directly from Shanghai. Probably Apple has shiploads of standard stock MBP in Singapore and that is why they're shipping directly from Singapore but for custom configured, highly likely they'll come from Shanghai.

Bought from online store twice and I'm charged exactly as what appeared on my invoices .. no hanky panky with conversion rate.

How much is the differences? If it is big .. then better call Apple Store and clarify .. as per my previous post, on both occasions, bought stuff from AppleStore/MY and the exact amount were charged to my CC oh .. btw, was using Maybank if that matter.

Do you think DHL updates the status of our packages? I ordered an ipod touch, in the order is said shipped between 19-21/01 but delivery confirmation gave 25/01 as the date. Crazy.. but looking at the order status, it has reach KUL yesterday morning and no update after that. I guess DuaHariLambat means I'll get my ipod on Friday

It shouldn't take that long, 3 weeks is a bit too long. If after a few days, no movement on the status, you should could Apple. I've bought few MB, MBPs and iPods before and they usually ship it out in a week time (depending on the stock status). Usually, a standard spec-ed item will be shipped out from Singapore, otherwise, they'll need to custom build from their plant and this will take a little bit of time.

The delivery man sometime just hit your nerve surely. I've experienced few times when the delivery man (not only DHL but GDEX and others too) couldn't find my house and use the "recepient not at home" status.. no delivery note, nothing .. I've once so mad at DHL guy and I picked my MBP directly from their Glenmarie office. To add to the confusion I guess, my street has two different postcode .. one for Shah Alam and another for Sg Buloh.. mad for sure.

What is the quoted delivery date in your order? Usually items shipped from Apple Singapore will take a day or two to reach you and it usually on or before the quoted delivery date. 3 hours is not enough to worry about.. If it stuck for 3 days there, then you can start calling around.

Wait for a while, the new imac will probably coming real soon now .. checking macrumors, someone predicting that it will be early next month.. so, hold your purchase..

I don't have any experience buying Apple hardware during the transition period, but the last time, you need to pay circa RM30 to get the DVD shipped to you. As for the latest Lion which will be available online, from what I read, you've 30 days to register after you bought the hardware. Best is to call them up, but I believe Apple will update it page on where to request for the OS upgrade.

I've bought quite a number of products from Apple online store and none opened or delayed by the customs.

I like my old late-2006 MBP, it has matte display. I believe this is now called antiglare? The later Macbooks mostly have glossy display, only high end MBPs I believe can be customised with antiglare.

@llsphinsxll .. if you order it on Monday, it will get shipped within 24 hours, so expect that you'll receive it either on Thursday or Friday.. or earlier if the stock is coming from Singapore instead of Sanghai.
