I think the difference is not the enclosure, but the type of HDD inside. Enclosure may provide steady voltage and cooling only.

The HDD has to have proper buffer and rpm. Maybe partition will help too.

Thats what i tell people before they buy large capacity USB thumbdrives...on the computer itsOK, but if you use it for other than computer to play video files, it will start jerking. Wanna buy, buy branded and fast reading type

Added on November 27, 2008, 6:35 pmOK, this is the report: The link clip video clip is just 11MB size yield 7 seconds playback... MP4 file type. Is very crisp in video playback on 1080p resolutions with my AV Receiver decoding the audio track as PCM 48hz.

Hmm. Laowai makes sense on the HDD part. Will see this weekend can buy new HDD that is fast.

So anyone here has fast broadband to download/try the 30+gb Dark knight BD files on the WD media player?

Guys, discussing MKV files or any type of media in general is fine. But is it ok to mention about downloading certain copyrighted titles? And giving links is even more inapropriate. Can discuss this privately via PM. icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi. I got my wd tv 3 days ago.

I got 2 questions:

1. How do I put movie posters on the mkv movie file?
I can put the music album cover using itunes and it is embedded in the file. How does it work for movie files?

2. How do I put subtitle in the movie
I played the same file in my pc and I can see subtitle. But when I played in wd tv, there's no subtitle, even I choose to have it, it's not there anymore.

Pls advise, sifus.

Now, something that I want to share. This HD media player cannot recognise chapters for DVD VOB file. The player also do not have any time search feature to jump into any scene. Say for a 2 hours movie clip, if we need to goto time 1hour 35 minutes.. we have to FF (up to 16x speed ) all the way till then! doh.gif

Very true. That's one of the drawbacks.

How about subtitles? do you have issues on subtitles? All my mkv movies does not show subtitles.

Have you tried 720p mkv files?
Is the subtitle a separate file of embedded inside the mkv file?

You have to put subtitle outside MKV.

It depends whether the source is embedded with subtitle or not
If not u have to look for the so-called 3rd party subtitle like srt type

The website said the player supports the srt type subtitle
Anyhow I will try it out tonight smile.gif

No matter if the the subtitle already embedded in MKV, it'll not display it. You have to extract it using MKVExtract tool. Hope this will help.
