fuyyooo....what internet connection you guys using.....?
*
my normal 1Mbps streamyx can sustain 150-160kB/sec
(used to have 1.5Mpbs which can sustain 180-190kB/s but cut off that service aledi.. sad.gif )
3.5G maxis (which does 1.8Mbps) can sustain 200-270kB/sec

of coz if u use P2P (like bit torrent) then your milage may vary.. smile.gif

1/2 day  blink.gif

i rather download using rapidshare with normal mkv...took 1-2 hours only..... smile.gif
*
what is normal MKV in your case?? izzit normal AVI DVD rip? 700-800MB rite?

I think for me, normal HD MKV is 720p with DD track so that comes out to be 4+GB per movie..

it can be a waste of time if you compare with actually just go and buy a copy of the movie off the shelf.....most of the time even ordering from amazon is faster than waiting for a 40GB files to complete.
*
you got >100Mps line mah. why dun go download all those BD rips.. 1TB drives sure are cheaper than those BD GBP prices.. tongue.gif

how can you say HD quality is wasting time? lol...then buying 1080 capable screens are also wasting time. if you are just a typical guy that can watch whatever quality stuff, it's fine. but you cant say waiting for higher quality = wasting time. cos other than blu ray rips, the quality is just shitty. plus some good movies deserve a HD treatment.
*
haha! you sure kena the HD bug already.. all movies must watch in Hidef liao.. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

BD probably outlast HDD...there's the risk of HDD crashing
*
you don't know that for certain (unless you wait 5-10years from BD launch), already got BD rot on small number of discs..

think HDD's lifespan is less than 5-10years
*
my 5-8years 30-40GB drives still functioning (just left in storage drawer). my 6.4GB drive over 10years will working as well..
and my 2-3years 320GB drive, has been easily backed-up (2+hours) to my 1TB drive...
and 2-3 years from now, my 1TB drives will be backup up to my 3-4GB drive easily via USB3.0 (5Gb/s)..

it will last longer when they are not used everyday.. most of my archive stuffs (with 2nd backup) need not be powered up daily...

Same thing happened to me. But after I hear to the lossless audio on BD, I'm not keen on MKVs anymore. biggrin.gif

Well, lets just put it this way, for those who have the moolah to spend or at least knows the meaning of infringement & piracy, will go for BD. Those peasants who can't afford BD, MT2S files is here for them. Well, at least they won't feel like a loser in everything, HDD is cheap nowaways.
*
ori disc owners may also backup their expensive discs and use M2TS to playback mah,
also the forward trend is Video servers, so loading individual discs to watch a movie is a thing of the past.. or you could setup multi room system using HDD based M2TS movies..

Question, is playing the mkv files (converted) on PS3 better or playing the original mkv from the WD TV player?
*
converted from MKV to M2TS is just change the "wrapper" only (REMUX).. the codecs like H264 are still untouched on a PS3 playable file format..

That's right. If you use a remux technique, no conversion was done, only taking the video codec and put it into a new container/header. I like to call it as "salin baju". laugh.gif

so how many "baju" have you undressed? brows.gif brows.gif
