for spm candidates, try to get ur add math and physic A if u wanna pursue in engineering field...

good luck to u all

@igmroey - integration is quite ez, esp for the volume part.. i cant remember did f5 learn how to integrate volume by rotating the graph on certain axis?if yes, i just wanna share my way of solving the question.. u just need to identify the radius from the equation.. let say u wanna rotate the graph on X-axis for sure u need to make the equation to y=mx+c since Y is the radius for the graph(unless using shell method which u will learn in university)

and for prob distribution once u can imagine the diagram just like raptor did, i can say it is a free mark question ;D..

Form 5 add maths hmmm.....
None are hard. But i'd guess MORE student would have difficulties in

1) Integration ( the volume part)
2) Trigonometry
3) Probability Distribution
Cmon la vick... score 89 in Chem u think Add maths is hard for you ? You kidding ?  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif

The only part which I don't like is integration. If it comes out in Section B, I will usually skip that.
The prob with it is that the answer is usually in fractions and if you are not careful while substituting the values in or whatever like missing some stuff while keying in the calc, you might get rclxub.gif

Trigo is quite easy. The questions that they ask are usually proving, graph sketching, find the angle and drawing of triangles if they give you some unknown.

Probability Distribution is easy.
Permutations and combinations might be tricky at times. If you misunderstand certain stuff

The important thing in Add Maths is to be careful and avoid careless mistakes. If you can do that and lets say you dont know how to do 2-3 questions then you are quite safe.

for example..
meiosis 1 (prophase 1) started with diploid..

so i just count the pair of chromatids and multiplied it with 2?
right?

@aad_lfcfn,

It already started with diploid, meaning 2n = number of chromosomes. The haploid is divided by half then. That means the 4 daughter cells after the whole process of meiosis 1 and 2 will produce 4 daughter cells with haploid chromosome numbers.

Added on November 4, 2008, 6:51 amNote: You mentioned prophase 1, meaning the chromosomes haven't separate to become haploid yet.

in a diagram if they ask you how many chromosomes are there. just count them by the centromeres. don't need to look at whether they are diploid or haploid or whatsoever. 1 centromere=1 chromosome regardless at what stage.

I need help. This one is a really simple question but I don't know how to solve this =/

A brick falls from a height of 10m.
Calculate the time taken for the brick to reach the ground.

This one is past year question - 2007.
