Hmm......well, I prefer to buy on the spot rather than online. Apparently, a new power supply is a must for the 4850GS. Since the card is out of stock, I asked my sister to go around the shops in the plaza to find a good & cheap power supply. From this forum, Silverstone ST50F attracts my attention as it only costs RM259-260. But to my surprise, my sister informed me that only one shop sell that particular model and it costs RM299. So, anyone know other brand of power supply that can support 4850gs and does not exceed my poor budget of RM260?

yes ST56F 560w cheaper than corsair vx550w because st56f is much older model.

st56f supports ATX v2.0 and corsair vx550 supports newer ATX v2.2.

the main thing you need to take note here is corsair has a single powerful 12v rail. and st56f has dual 12v rails. better get either single 12v or three or four 12v rails.

High end SLI/Crossfire (x1800xt/x1900xt/7950GX2/8800GTS/8800GTX etc) users make sure you grab a single or triple/quad 12V rail PSU as its been found that most dual 12V rail PSU's won't work at all in such systems.

just to make sure the poster understands. better invest your money in other psu.

anyway
last time when i got my 4870GS i wan running on 64bit vista... then on 3dmark vantage.. always driver crash and can't proceed... turbo mode. (forgot if i tested normal mode or not)
games keep on hang a while because the driver would crash and reload
i got fed up and last night i convert to vista 32bit... thinking everything would be solved..... but i run 3dmark vantage... same thing happen... so i figure... i change back to normal. and it goes thru the test just fine but i am very very uncertain about the score..
i am using Biostar Tpower i45 motherboard with coolermaster real power pro 750w PSU.
4gb corsair XMS2 DHX DDR2-800 ram

3dmark vantage was bench at high mode which is 1680x1050 reso..
ya the driver crash on turbo mode happen also on default without OC (in case you guys might ask)
tried to OC the GC once but it just wont clock up.. even just on catalyst overdrive... core speed max increase was only to 790mhz.. was unstable and crash

why do you use H preset? use Performance (P) preset...lol

or u shutdown,change to turbo..turn on back?
