Guys... long time no check out the thread so fast v2
anyway
last time when i got my 4870GS i wan running on 64bit vista... then on 3dmark vantage.. always driver crash and can't proceed... turbo mode. (forgot if i tested normal mode or not)
games keep on hang a while because the driver would crash and reload
i got fed up and last night i convert to vista 32bit... thinking everything would be solved..... but i run 3dmark vantage... same thing happen... so i figure... i change back to normal. and it goes thru the test just fine but i am very very uncertain about the score..
i am using Biostar Tpower i45 motherboard with coolermaster real power pro 750w PSU.
4gb corsair XMS2 DHX DDR2-800 ram

the score doesn't seem alright to me but i am uncertain..so i need u guys help to check it out.
and i wonder if the card got problem in turbo mode... and should i send for RMA or not.......

oh Scanart... if send for RMA how long can i get my card back....... cause i don't really have any graphic card on backup since this is a new rig that i build.....

3dmark vantage was bench at high mode which is 1680x1050 reso..
ya the driver crash on turbo mode happen also on default without OC (in case you guys might ask)
tried to OC the GC once but it just wont clock up.. even just on catalyst overdrive... core speed max increase was only to 790mhz.. was unstable and crash

guys... i did turn off the PC and switch to turbo mode then only i boot up.. i been using turbo mode for a month... then driver keep crashing on 3dmark vantage. COD4. crysis warhead and so on.
and the card is not willing to OC. now even on the normal mode
it still crashes but less.
i tried 3dmark vantage in performance bench as promise and funny... the display driver crash and the benchmark got interrupted and stops.
then my question is.... is there anything wrong with my card and should i RMA it...

and question to Scanart: how long would it take to RMA my card and izzit possible to have one to one exchange if checked and confirm got problem because this is now my only graphic card and without it i kenot run my PC. i am on P45 motherboard and there is NO intergrated graphic for me to temporary use.
in short i need it to be done fast. possible?

and... tech3910: what i can say is.. the golden sample 4870 is actually prices at the same as the reference cooler model from other brand or not cheaper at the time. and as for the turbo switch. extra feature.. why not? owikh84 say both mode overclock differently i am not sure but if it's true then it's very good to know. and of course u need to restart... is the bios u are messing with. u mess with ur motherboard bios or flash it. u need to restart also what.
last but not least i believe most ppl buy custom cooler graphic card is not for the extra power but is for countering the heat.

anyway.. i need my questions answered.. please and thank you ><

and finally vantage got through in Performance bench

is this score normal for a E8600 core 2 duo with 4gb ram and 4870 512mb?

seems like i am the only person having problem with my 4870gs...
finish COD4 yesterday.. throughout the game i have more than 30 times driver crash.... 3 times BSOD... uhhh~~ scratch head.... now either turbo or normal mode can't even finish complete bench of 3dmark06 and vantage.. driver crash and benching stop... the crysis warhead same case..... the game i run most stable now is GRID which the driver still crashes but far less... and... play any game with 8x AA guaranteed BSOD. tested and confirm.. grid 8XAA very smooth still but after a while hang and BSOD.... RA3 same case.... if i remember correctly Mass Effect oso same case... going to RMA real soon... because now i still need to use the PC and no spare card i have to wait =.=

it shows on cpuz that now it's on 5-5-5-15
and no IGP... it's a P45 board. biostar tpower i45

i tested both turbo and normal mode.. turbo mode from what i experience crash more often than normal mode.. normal mode still crashes

flashing bios? i tot just shut down the PC. change the mode.. boot the PC and the driver reinstall? correct.. this is how i switch between mode.. i shut down 1st.

and yes 8xAA on turbo and normal mode. sure BSOD.

any solution suggest pls.. or i going to send it back to skcs in a few days time.. i already told him what scanart told me to contact carlson saying i need the card back fast....
but still if there is any solution i am very welcome.... RMA the card meaning i dun get to game for sometime and that's..... devastating T_T

err what function on the motherboard i have to check? the ONE menu there the clockgen part the PCI-E speed need to change? i tried change just to 110mhz the motherboard wont post at all.....

the bios i gave me is the Asus TOP edition punya.... so now i need to flash to the asus top version or the later gainward 4870gs bios
anybody can link me to the bios of the lastest 4870GS i can i would really like to do it myself before sending to SKCS1985.. coz i am from penang and it would be an hassle to courier back to them .

my 4870GS i finally sent back to skcs1985 -> CEX. now they testing the card.... hope i get i back by ASAP... no gaming is killing me.....
