If i am not mistaken, that place is kampung area but don't worry about it . Kampung area you can save a lot of money because there is no place to spent on unless you do a lot of online shopping.

And if you ever get offered a job as a server never hesitate just accept it as you will earn so much more than you ever expected. You will at least go home not less than a benjamin each day with or without your basic salary. As long as you speak good english, serve what they want , make them happy and you will walk away with a bank each day in your pocket .

Good luck !

Like it or not the American accent does help make you feel more integrated. You also need to be able to understand your customers but realistically you should be able to pick it up very quickly especially if you can already understand what you watch on TV or on Hollywood movies.

I've never worked as a server but I know people who have. It's physically demanding but if your tips are significant then good luck!

Yup I do agree with tishaban. Trust me, you will pick it up along the way. Just watch more american shows and series smile.gif

I have friends who are working in Yellowstone as Server and they earn a lot of money. But you have to be consistently energetic cause you need to carry heavy trays and you have to attend to customers well. Remembering orders are also key. As long as you keep this up, I believe your tips will be great as well (depending on their business as well of course).

chances of getting a second job is nearly impossible because u need to know, u are in a national park and distance to town or city is very far.
I have calculated total fees for WAT is roughly 10k, u will earn roughly 1.2k per month working wif yellowstone minus 15bucks rent per wek and 13bucks for meal per day, u left 750 times four months and at the end of the day total u only have $3k. So, if you go back to m'sia the next day after u finish ur contract plus substituting biscuits and bread for meals(for whole day), i tink you have a slight chance to earn back the 10k m'sia ringgit... Good luck... biggrin.gif

I come to know that there are only 2 agents--speedwing and out of the box available in Msia for the WAT USA programme right? correct me if i am wrong.

I have browsed through both sites and found out that the fees for Out of the box is RM 3,048. This includes:

- obtaining the DS 20-19 form
- assisting in the visa application process, including visa scheduling
- confirmed job contract
- SEVIS fee
- pre-departure orientation
- assistance services in the USA
- travel & medical insurance.
http://usa.workandtravelusa.com.my/costs.htm

Anyone who apply for that before?
Well, the application to work this summer 2011 is obviously closed. sad.gif

The whole point of the program is exposure, not purely about money. Think about it this way: how often can you work with a bunch of people from all over the world, being independent, having fun and also travel in the states at your own time/planning, for 5 months?

I've been there done that, and this is the best damn decision I've ever made.
