when should i apply for WAT actually? right after getting a degree or during undergraduate study? i dun understand "be a full-time tertiary student in Singapore, Malaysia or Australia (this applies for local and foreign students) OR a final year, final semester student graduating from a full time course"

QUOTE(yeahs4.1 @ Jan 25 2011, 07:52 AM) The whole point of the program is exposure, not purely about money. Think about it this way: how often can you work with a bunch of people from all over the world, being independent, having fun and also travel in the states at your own time/planning, for 5 months? Yes truly agree. Until today, I miss yellowstone so so so much. I really wish I can go back there again with a valid visa. hey you know whether is it possible for a non student to go back to states to work? Have been missing it so much. I've been there done that, and this is the best damn decision I've ever made. QUOTE(MrTaxxi @ Jan 26 2011, 11:30 PM) when should i apply for WAT actually? right after getting a degree or during undergraduate study? i dun understand "be a full-time tertiary student in Singapore, Malaysia or Australia (this applies for local and foreign students) OR a final year, final semester student graduating from a full time course" Hmm, it would be best to apply about 5-6 months before the start of your long term break. during your final year, you have the final opportunity to go for the programme cause you are technically a student. so after your final sem of your final year, then you can go for it. this applies to people who are non malaysian but studying in malaysia/singapore as well. meaning you dont have to be a malaysian or singaporen to apply. =========================================================================================================== Anyway, anyone going for Speedwing's WAT interview session in ParkRoyal on feb 19th? I will be there helping out. |

Unfortunately, there ain't much choices for non-student to go back again. Unless, you're going there for an internship, or for actual work

QUOTE(FCUK89 @ Feb 1 2011, 12:35 PM) Gatlinburg, TN. Hard Rock Cafe.Vernie left out one choice - jump aeroplane. LOL Anyway, i started this thread 2 years ago. Believe me, i was like many of you folks here, thinking about if this is what i should do, what will my parents say, will i make enough/break even/loose (the question that shouldn't be asked the most), bla bla bla. There were so many uncertainties, doubts and perhaps objections from people around you, but rest assured all these are worth it. my advice is, you have to get out from your comfort zone and experience them yourself. nothing justify all those but yourself. You're the one gaining here, not the people around you. |

I have had friends went for it 3 years consecutively after an awesome first year at yellowstone. it's good to talk to parents and help them understand. also if you can't go this year, try to gather a few friends and make it a goal to go next year. cause that's how i got my parents' approval. when you have a gang going together, it's easier that way. take it like 1 month at harvard/oxford/cambridge - wouldn't you want to experience that? same thing. It's fun. Isn't that what Gen Y wants? Fun? |

San Francisco is a very nice place. good chilly weather with adequate sunshine(between late summer and mid fall). people are friendly, a lot of interesting places to visit. you should stop by, for a couple of days if time/budget permits.
I wouldn't recommend LA because Hollywood is somehow overrated, unless you must visit Disneyland, Universal Studio. plus, the public transportation in LA sucks. It's not easy to get around. you could rent a car but it'll cost quite a lot if you're under 24. This post has been edited by yeahs4.1: Feb 14 2011, 09:18 PM |

Hi!
I'm joining WAT summer 11 with OOTB. Anyone else here going too? I'm still deciding on which job I should take though. Not much choices left. Only left Marriott Vacation Club, South Carolina.. Schlitterbahn Galveston or Schlitterbahn New Braunfels, both in texas. Any advice from those who already went? |

Hey there. i just got back from WAT winter
Was tied to OOTB and worked as housekeeper in a hotel and casino, West Wendover, Nevada. Never, i say, never think bout the money that you are gonna earn. I mean, come on, its never the money that counts when you do these kind of stuffs. If i wanted to earn more money, i would have chosen MacD too. But what's the point of flipping burgers if you ain't gonna experience stuffs and all rite? Having said that, my job scope is not tat, erm, how do you put it, grand either. Its not that hard, yet not that fun either. It's just okay. Everything depends on the surrounding you are in. If you got great colleagues, then by all means, you will have great fun Traveling is the best! San Francisco was great. It would b great to get the CityPass. That would save you tonnes of money. San Fran CityPass, i think, along with Hollywood CityPass, is the most worth it. For San Fran CityPass, you got unlimited Local transportation for a certain timeframe ( Muni transportation), so its really worth it. Hollywood is fun too if you know where to go. Hollywood is great to just chill out and waste time All in all. Just go with your heart. try not to think bout the money much. If you are not gonna study abroad , this programme would be a great opportunity for you to experience a truly unforgettable experience. Cheers. |
