QUOTE(REALCollector @ Nov 2 2008, 02:24 PM) Jason... melting rubber... In fact couple years back I'd three pair of basketball shoe Nike & Reebok... each cost around RM300 - RM450... the rubber seem to decompose after you keep it in shoe rack for few years... I'd disposed them last years.... I think that might work.....since most of my model get the water "hydroplanning" treatment after photo sessions.....I do that because the tyres becomes dirty after lots of moves I make for my model in diorama(which is made from sand, cement, some natural stuff,& flour)I wonder if this work, try to clean the tyres with clean water periodically... say once a month.... ??? any comment??? of course rub off the moisture to prevent any metal parts from getting rusty Sometimes when I want to clear the dust I just put all the model together in water tab,& using a high pressure air tank to dry out all the model...... after that,I rubbing all the model with tissue or small sponge or even ear cotton(in case of small area like interior) to ensure it really dry & than...........put it air cond room or in front of fan..... the only thing you need to worry is do not put too much pressure on the gun otherwise maybe the rims, screw,& other small detail part will fly off..... |

If you blow the tyre with hairdryer, not very good move since rubber and heat doesn't mix. Rubber need some moisture to keep lively.
Also if the car sits on 4 tyres suggest you change the tyre position frequently or else all the weight will lie on the same point it might change the tyre shape. Why not apply some tyre polisher or leather protector instead? And actual car polisher on the metallic paints? |

I tried car polisher on diecast toys before. Seems to look great. Just don't apply on non metal parts.
Tyre & leather protector i never use, but i assume if the tyre protector works on real tyres it should work on toy car tyres. |
