really? wow never thought about that... thanks man.
i found a few sellers in mudah.my, got a few vintage omega for, got a few flaws, but considering the age of the watch, looks cool. there's one in ampang point, TCL watch enterprise. other one is jamkoleksi, ever have any experience with em?
ebay is ok.. if U found its fake can contact seller to get it refund. or have ebay track it down. its safer to deal with North America/European sellers. I know watchmaker here that have bought watches on ebay (seller southeast asia), found that items isn't as described still can get it square away. of course its a pain in the butt and U may to worry for days.. is it worth the savings U decide.
if U are looking at new models today u are seeing more online grey market sellers selling on ebay.
not promoting seller.. but its 1 of those once popular ones on ebay. I read those on those Asian made Unitas 6497 with swan neck regulator is better than those auto chinese movements. not sure how true, nonetheless my buddy pwr reserve auto hommy broke within a yr.

There are Russian Pammies. You just have to go to Hong Kong to get one. One of my friends (an air stewardess) got a russian one from a stall there. Or, you can head over to Russia to get one.
You can't identify a Russian Pammy easily. It is (to the naked eye) a 100% replica of a pammy, right down to the movement seen on the back. The only tell tale sign is that on some russian models the engraved words (Panerai) on the movement bridges as seen on genuine ones are actually very well made stickers (that look like engravings). You can spot the flaw with a loupe. Otherwise, it looks and feels (weight wise) like a pammy. Even the chronograph models uses Russian Valjoux 7750 movements (which are genuine movements used on brands like Poljot) and not chinese knock offs of the 7750 (which you can find on so-called 'high end' replicas found here in Malaysia).
Btw, the local 'agents' here have refuse to import in russian pammies because of the fact that they are quite expensive. A PAM black seal will cost you around RM2,500.
Here's a link to a post on russian made panerai's (the first link will take you to a guy who took it apart and compared it to an actual panerai. You will have to scroll down for the pictures.).
If you have never heard of something, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Especially true when coming from someone who used to work in the watch industry in the States for almost a decade.

This is really interesting, thanks for sharing mates I assumed you mentiond above is that 'can't idendity easily' huh? If really can't tell the difference, I don't mind paying RM2,500 for it

Oops. Thanks. Yes. What I wanted to say was that it cannot be identified easily. Sorry. Typo.
kinda hard nowaday if we pay rm3000 and then found the shop selling fake rolex with warranty
paying high doesnt mean u are getting genuine rolex so always double check when buying expensive watch
The safest bet is to get it from authorised dealer, and that's no RM3000 real Rolex If that is, then is too good to be true In any case (not only watch buying), its always caveat emptor.
Actually name is Syed Mohri. He has vast knowledge on vintage, pre-owned and new watches especially the Swiss made.
I've just posted Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Squelette on www.limautambun.blogspot.com.

hello! i just started my career and have been thinking to join the big boys club of owning a luxury watch for quite some time now. Although a car and a house is my foremost priority now, i think i can squeeze some quids into my "timepice tabung" ( i have tabungs for every major buys i plan to make, hehe). anyway, to start off my collection, i have a budget of around 2k. i like automatic watches with the small round mini watches in the watch face that tells the date, day, and a stopwatch ( i think i mean chronographs here, correct me if im wrong), as well as watches that u can see the mechanism in the face as well as in the back of the watch. I have snooped around in malls and such, and have came across a watch brand called ingersoll. the designs suit my taste and the price is within my budget too. can anyone advise me on this brand? or should i go for used timepieces instead? i saw this shop once in bangsar village and i think they sell some used rolex and the likes. would be great if anyone could suggest me other watch makes that is within my budget. i dont want oris as my brother in law owns one and dont want to be called a copy cat thanks in advance!
There are lots of choice at Passions in Bangsar Village. There are vintage Omega, Pre-owned Frederique Constant and Tudor. New watches try Louis Erard, Certina, Epos and Mido. All are Swiss made. Happy hunting...

for someone how had worked in the states for almost a decade, one can jump into this conclusion and bold it... wow.. when someone said didn't know there is 1 around does not mean it don't exist. nonetheless glad u can share. as for the logic behind... work in usa, thus what 1 said must be true. seriously flawed reasoning. Madoff work in usa all his life, ppl give him billions of dollars.. still..what happened.
anyway, i am glad u can cite your claims with link! cheers

Or you could find out more about President Obama's CURRENT watch. He's wearing the Vulcain's Anniversary Heart (going real cheap at only RM48,000 for the platinum model with leather strap).

There was a picture of him in the Star newpaper not too long ago wearing the Vulcain.

Get a Ball watch. The Ball Night Train with DLC in rubber strap looks gorgeous. Also, you can't go wrong with the Ball Hydrocarbon series. The best part about Ball watches is that you can resize the bracelet yourself. They use screws in place of metal bars on their links (ala Rolex).
