Ha ha

No. The rubber plug don't have available Eastar spec. So, I am trying to claim this from SC this Monday. Yes, all 8 holes will allow smoke, dust, mud even water go into the car. After few years, the car will be very dirty and heavy. So, far, I bought one rim 4in and two rim 2in of falshband for RM80. Used abt 70% already. Actually, I put some extra on places which i think necessary bcos once you open it, why not do it right for the 1st time! For those dun have much time, cover the 8 holes at the bottom, put one layer for inner door frame each(important is to cover those holes), one layer for body mud guard and one layer on the plastic mud guard. The result will be excellent. I estimate it cost RM120 to complete the whole insulation project. Yes, thanks for the Autohome.cn you introduced to me. But they are doing the whole flooring which I think very expansive and not necessary(they claim that the insulation foam has increased the car weight a lot). I am targeting on problem areas and just want to solve the problem for lower cost, lesser time.
Once you complete the 3 steps, the Eastar is running a silent mode. You will feel very confortable inside.
Thanks Enigma!

RM100 for 440km is very good FC if you are town driving; abt 22+cents. Only long distant driving can get 19cents or less. Can't believe the MPV FC is so good! rclxms.gif
Thanks for the info.

I was in SC this morning...

on the way to the office kete I terlanggar something yang tajam and terlekat kat tayar so my car jalan pun mcm peliklah sebab ada benda terlekat kat tayar. So I straight heading to SC sebab kebetulan memang I nak complaint pun. Masa last service I tak puas hati kereta I yg dulu senyap tetiba ada bunyik2 yang tak menyenangkan dari dalam.

Also I complaint lagi enterior yang tak kemas on the aircond side and...complaint untuk kali ketiga sebenarnya...rupanya clip kat tempat aircond tu dah patah end up I  yang kena bayar RM65....so sad

Actually tempat aircond tu memang regang masa first time dapat kete (memang dah patah dulu) i complaint to My SA kat ampang..dia akat tak pe complaint kat SC masa first service..I dah complain masa first service tapi diorang tak sempat buat...second service pun tak buat jugak...last2 harini diorang buat and find out ada double sided tape...so diorang suspect patah masa buat wiring pasang dvd player dulu tapi i'm sure sebenarnya bendad tu dah patah masa I mula-mula dapat kete.

Since dah ada double side kat situ maka dah void lah warannty...nak tak nak kena bayo le jugak...hu hu hu..

Pasal lubang tu hmmm diorang kata by default sume kete ada lubang tu...minta tolong diorang cover pun diorang tak nak...

kenalah cover sendirik...
smilu upah u ajelah untuk coverkan holes kat my bintang bleh

Sorry, too far lah saya di North. For temperary measure, u bolih beli "kain plaster" around RM8~9Small rim) dari ACE hardware di Mid Vellay, Sunway Pyramid, atau mana-mana hardware shops. Kain plaster tu bolih tahan juga.

According to SC, the rubber plug for covering the holes has no stock yet. So, everyone be patient. They are ordering few hundreds to replace the missing one. Just give them sometimes to wait for the stock to come in. For everyone information.

Just came back from KL. Notice that some of you asking me to become technical advicer/consultant. Well, I am actually not much better than some of you. In this forum, we are sharing and helping every Eastar owner to sort out the problem. With synergistic effort, the way it works.

As I always hand on to my car, I will highlight everything I know, thing I do and the way I handle the problems. If anyone has any problem need to solve, I will try my best to look into the problem and propose some way to solve it. How abt we work on this way, guys? Like I said, I am just a car lover; some of you may have better technical knowledge than I do. There are many things I will have to learn from you guys too.

On my way back fr KL, my son complained the right rear side can hear the tyre/road noise. I sit there to feel it, really very noisy especially there is water on the road. I tried to investigate yesterday night and found the noice could be coming from the place where we keep the jack. Take a look at the jack compartment, you will see numbers of big holes. Even though these hole do no lead to outside, but there is no insulation between. I believe this is the place where noise is transmitted into the rear right seat. There are many ways to solve it. We can stuff the empty compartment inside with foam or cover up those holes with flashband, foam with double sided tape. Easy way is just stuff the compartment with polyesther foam. It will reduce the noise.
Some pictures for your reference; I used flashband.

Roof insulation! Very interesting. Mr P, have you done? I dare not un-cover verything bcos I am not a specialist. Just do whatever possible reached by my hand. Actually, the 3rd row side board need some insulation, I dare not open it up bcos as you know the plastic parts are so fregile. I wish I could do all round insulation.
Did you changed adjustable absorber? I feel that the rear absorber is a bit soft, just wonder if you have any idea!?

You can request them to cover the hole with "tape kain" temperary. SC manager said have to wait for a while b4 the stock come in.

Nak tanya sikit, kalau nak service kat SC nak kena call booking dulu tak? Esok ingat nak gi SC first 1000km. Sye pagi Batu Pahat dari KL pegi balik dapat 520km - RM80. Memang best pecut atas h/way. Tak menyesal beli....
*

Best call SC buat appointment dulu. Kalau service di SC PJ, I think no problem kalau u pergi pagi. When I was there, 2 kereta kena reject bcos mereka pergi lewat pukul 4pm.

Added on March 18, 2009, 7:13 pmSorry guys! Wrong figures and thank you Busyra! Memang FC 19cents; RM122 for 643km.
This round to KL. FC 20cents; RM154 for 770km. Maybe due to high speed on PLUS and traffic jam in KL.
I never get lower than 19cents until now! Maybe due to my driving habbit, too bad! hmm.gif

saya pun sama sayang eastar ku, but do you guys think Proton MPV boleh challenge our car or not? look like the interior is good la
*

I think most ppl will choose "popular" brand and popular engine capacity(1.3~1.6ltr) instead. Not many people know Chery has a good MPV neither. P. MPV already has 1500 booking b4 launching this April 15th. Let see what they have then. I would not compare these two MPVs bcos they are of different range.
Anyway, I am very happy with my Eastar, loving it! icon_rolleyes.gif

Since we are in the midst of discussing the new MPV, I take a look at Paultan.org test drive. Here is interesting qoute: "On an empty road and ample space for acceleration, the ......can actually achieve some really high speeds. 140 to 160km/h are no problem given enough time and even beyond that is possible on a downhill stretch. These high speeds can be sustained easily, it is only when you slow down and try to climb back up to those speeds where it takes a long time." sad.gif
It is very interesting to read the test drive report...... wink.gif

I have been in manufacturing/assembly industries for more than 20 years, situation like Eastar is called transfer model. Where existing model is newly assemble in another plant. There are some minor problems cannot be avoid. For Exo...a totally new car from designing stage, it is called a new model. There will be even more problems both major and minor. Even though Japanese industrialist always emphasis "do it right the 1st time", problems do exist for new model. When a new model runs in, problems will surface.
I am not against any new car but this is true in any industrial new product.

Buying a new product! Let it runs in for months.

Salam malam minggu.

Cuma ingin berkongsi maklumat mengenai sistem penggera. Selamat mencuba...

Good morning all!
Drom, this is a very good information that you share. thumbup.gif This is a safety feature for alarm system. When remote control is accidentally touch & open the car doors(alarm dis-arm), the doors will close back and alarm is armed if the door remain un-open for 30 sec.
Oh just updated you guys my spare remote/key, I got it from SC for RM190+. They key is a program blank key and need to shape the key outside.
Happy Sunday! biggrin.gif

Added on March 22, 2009, 10:49 amRON 95 at RON 92 price will be advantage to Eastar. This is definitely a good news! I am using RON 97 all the time, anyone using RON 92 for Eastar? How is the power for RON 92? Long stoke and low compression ratio engine should be using(suitable) RON 92 theoritically. Those who tried RON 92 b4 can share his experience?

hi eveyone, just tested last weekend. impress with the car. think of booking soon. any problem to get spare part? hope u guy out there can give me some convincing point for me to book immediately. actually thinking of buying proton mpv next month.
*

Eastar is 2.4l whereas Exora ia 1.6l. Eastar is of different class from Exora but almost the same price. To me I am considering safety and performance of the car. Eastar(Crossover) is in Europe and US market for a year or two means that it qualify for certain safety spec. I upgrade from 2000cc car to 2400cc car because I believe it gives me better control of the car and less stressfull(more confortable) to drive. In contrast, to drive big body mass with 1600cc engine, what happen need to accelerate for good? In paultan test drive report says...."These high speeds can be sustained easily, it is only when you slow down and try to climb back up to those speeds where it takes a long time."
I have driven Eastar from Png to KL via PLUS and Png to Kelantan via EW highway. I know Eastar give me confortable and confident on the road. The car is excellent both on normal highway and mountain highway. thumbup.gif
Also, refer to one of my write up on page 43 explaining new model and transfer model situation.
The choice is yours, make a good pick. Good luck!
