thanks smliu, one more thing, when u guys shifted the gear example fr N to D does the alphabet illuminates?mine only N illuminates, the rest did not.
*

Good morning Jibsi. All the P,R,N & D will show at each level. When u r in auto D, level 1,2,3,4 will not show but they will show when u r in menual D. This is according to my car. I wish the level 1,2,3,4, will show when in auto mode so that we know what gear level at that situation.
Since this is not a big issue which does not interrupt yr driving, drive the car for some period times, and record the faulty issues. Then settle at SC once for all; it save up the time.
Regards.

Hi guys, just sharing my lucky experience happened this morning. Some cars petrol indicator pointing below the red mark and the car still have petrol to drive around but not for Eastar. My petrol indicator was pointing slightly above the lower red mark but it was out of petrol this morning. I was on my way to pump petrol when the indicator was pointing just above the lower red bar(not even pointing the lower red bar completely), at the petrol station, the engine suddenly died off and not able to start again even I tried for many times. Since at the petrol station, I filled up the petrol and start the car again and it back to normal. It was lucky bcos my car was just "totally empty" when at the petrol station.
So guys, start heading to petrol station when the petrol indicator pointing at the lower red portion. Eastar petrol indicator is very accurate; empty means empty; never try to drive further. No one wants to stop by the road side, right!?
According to owner's guide book, when the petrol indicator lights up, there is less than 10L petrol left. If town driving, 25 cents/km is calculated, the milage can cover is about 70km. It should be more if driving on highway at speed 110km/h; about 90km left(based on 20cents/km). The calculation is for reference only; figures may vary from individual driving habbit.
Happy driving!

Just for information. When my car is totally empty and not able to start, the amount of petrol I pumped in was RM134(74.44litres); very full. I think this is the maximum it can pump in.
Add on to Drom's info & experience, I think the car can cover at least 70km when the petrol alarm starts to light up. It's time to fill up the petrol again b4 stoppping by the road side.

Good morning everyone!
Only adv/expansive aircon system will have left/right independent aircon control but I don't think we have it in Eastar at this price level. I checked through my car, both side are equally cold and equal air flow. And I checked thru the owner's guide, there is no mention on left/right control also. No old found.
Eastar aircon is very cold and chilling. If your wife don't feel the aircon on the left side, there must be some faulty somewhere. Check with SC is necessary.
I am trying to understand page 112 center lower portion on owner's guide: Precaution on the regulation of vent.......don't really know what does it mean. hmm.gif

Anyone has the problem of engine overheating. I was stuck in a jam less than 20 minutes. temp go over 100 deg. check with workshop , seems everything ok. fan is moving. any one has this problem?
*

Good morning all! Happy Sunday.
Out of curiousity, where does the temperature showing? Mine only have the temperature sign in green color; does not show in figure. According to owner's guide, this green color sign will go off after ignition swtich is on for few seconds but mine is remain on all the time(I mean the green temp sign). Anyone having this situation or different situation? Must check with SC what is going on.

QUOTE(Drom @ Mar 9 2009, 10:20 PM)
Saya telah jumpa satu lagi kebaikan kenderaan kita. Saya guna perkataan kenderaan kerana setiap daripada kita ada nama tersendiri untuk kebanggaan kita itu.

Terlekat di pintu kecil tempat mengisi minyak, tertulis "93 Unleaded Fuel Only".

*

Betul Drom, this engine is a long stroke engine and compression ratio is 9, which 93 unleaded is more suitable to use. Long stroke engine needs petrol that burn longer time which it can produce more torque. RON 97 petrol is more for engine which has shorter stroke and high compression ratio; above 9.80. Kereta kita ni lebih sesuai guna RON93 instead of RON 97.

banyak angin masuk lah this eastar.. need to find out more to rectify
*

Angin masuk? Do you mean wind noise when it is at higher speed? Or asap busuk masuk kereta? We have discussed the wind noise which come from wing mirror, you can refer back to this forum page 22~23. This area is the most noisy one. Once you solved this area, the car is much quiter. Try it out.

QUOTE(dynasan @ Mar 10 2009, 12:14 PM)
last time I'd this problem...not experincing high pickup as most of the easterian claims...later found out that my customized mat had actually blocked the movement of the accelerator, well today I'd removed the mat and replace it with a rubber mat....results...damn powerful!

also, when you're playing the CD and you press "MUTE" on the steering, it is actually pause the CD played not only mute the sound. another thing, when you tune up the volume said 15 and off the player, when you switch on again, it will reset it to 5...just to protect the speaker...good feature...

TOP 3 pending issue unsolved....
1. sound on the dashboard (not due to dashboard something about assemble of the chasis)
2. aircons intermitten switch off automatic (no solution from SC)
3. water leaking on the rear (not bother to solve as it is not very serious, only leak in when I open the rear door)
*

Very good information, Dynasan. Thanks. I checked thru' my car immediately and found that the customized mat did not obstruct the accelerator movement but the original carpet does. No wonder there is limited movement for the accelerator. I used my foot to step on it (the carpet below the accelerator) and seems working.
Thank you for sharing, Dynasan, at least there is some improvement done. thumbup.gif

Added on March 10, 2009, 7:48 pmOh no! While I try ways to insulate my car, I found something not fixed at the bottom of the car. There are four holes on each side underneath the chassis. Use your hand to touch the bottom from front door frame to back door frame, you will find 4 holes of 24mm diameter each. These holes need to be cover or else water will go into the car. I can't wait to go to SC to fix this, I will buy the rubber cover to cover them as soon as possible. These holes not only allow water to pass through but the tyres/road noise will come into the car also. These holes also collect dust and mud in time to come.
So guys, take action immediately either do it yourself, ask foreman to do it or go to SC to fix it. Not only to prevent water, mud, dust go into the car, I am sure the car will be quiter after the cover is put on.

Just check my car ,confirm that  the holes are plug in.

You mean all the holes are covered? That's good. At least we know not all car has the problem as mine.

Taken few photos for yr reference.
1) The hole is right above the slipper position.
2) The photo is taken right below the hole. The lower portion(supposingly white color) is the outer side below the door.
3) the photo take at an angle from front to back. The 2nd hole is 4in from the line between two doors, towards the front.
Hope these photos may help.

Thanks for the info.
Anyway, how is your insulation project? any improvement?
the mat is actually at the driver seat area, if the mat is too thick it will obstruct the pedal movement, so you may felt less power eventhough you thought that you had press hard. Normally, during a complete stop (example on a junction), and you just need to press the pedal normally, and it will easily went up to 3000++ rpm. That is power!
*

I have done few areas on insulation, effective & very satisfying. As I am not a professional, I am doing it bit by bit at my own pace. I am targeting the root cause of the noise and try to insulate the areas. I will post some images for you to see later. Right now, I am doing the area where I found those holes; bottom as well as the inner part of the car. I believe noise transmited from this area especially the tyres/road noice and water plashing out during rainny season. This noise will definitely reduce once completed. I will not re-do the carpet area as the underlay is thick enough. One of the door alignment is not so fit, I am going to do it at the PJ SC soon.
Once all these been done, the car will be running a "quiet mode".

Good morning all.
I have done some sound insulation yesterday and want to share with you guys.
picture 1) the original inner door frame of driver side. see those openings one round & one like square in font? This are the places where I beleive tyre/road sound is transmitted into the car(as I have done for my previous car b4). Firstly, I have to insulate the inside of the square hole as far as possible. Then cover up this area.
picture 2) after in the inner of the square hole is done, I am covering up the square hole; work in progress.
picture 3) this area is inner side of the mud guard, just put on the flashband to the metal surface.
picture 4) covering up the round hole. There is another round hole 1/2 foot away to the back and another one is at the back door frame which not able to show here.
After covering up all possible areas for 4 doors, work done. This will reduce lot of noise caused by running tyres, splashing water and sound from outside.
For the time being, all this work done took 3+hours, but I am satisfy with it. nod.gif
Oop! The pictures is not in sequence which I thought.... The 1st one should be picture 3. hmm.gif

Bro Smliu,

Aku dah check keta aku ..pun same gak macam u punye ade lubang kat bawah frame pintu.
Bro.. u bleh jelaskan lagi tak u guna ape untok cover lubang tu dan kat mane nak dapatkan mende tu.
Lubang dari luar tu u cover jugak ke?
Thanks Bro.
IlmanDeena....   U ade tanye tak dengan SC pasal lubang2 tu .. memang sediakala atau dorang lupa nak tutup.
*

Bro, I am now in Kelantan. Material I used temperary is "flashband", I will go to SC to replace the rubber plug. You can buy flashband from any hardware shop. 2in or 4 in width, 1 foot length is RM1 or RM2. 1 foot is enough for 8 holes. Flashband is material tape people used to stop lobang from leaking at the rooftop; one side is aluminium and one side is tar(tar for the tar road!). Kalau u guna flashband to cover the holes, the car will be silent compare to current situation and not much dust, smoke or bad smell come into the car. If there is oil on surface, must clean 1st ya. Good to cover them immediately.

If you cannot get what I mean. Post yr message here. I will give upload picture when I reach home this afternoon. Hope this will help to solve yr problem.

Lubang luar tu u cover tuk sementara saja la kan. Kalu bleh load pic cantik gak tu.
Thanks Bro.
*

Ya, lobang tu tutup utk sementara shj. I nak claim dari SC bcos outside no stock for this spec now. Gambar material I guna dan lubang tu b4 & after tutup.
Lepas claim from SC itu rubber plug. I nak tutup area ni dari hadapan sampai belakang dengan Flashband ni.

Drove my Eastar to Kelantan for the 1st time; through East-West Highway. For a normal MPV(I mean not designed for spot), the power is on the high end. When power is needed to go up the slope, just press the acceraletor down and hold on. The gear will change to power gear; 3rd gear automatically. In some cases, I controlled the gear using manual option. The car response very well and it can take turns and cornering very well too. E-W highway is my favourite speeding highway bcos of up/down the moutain. After tesing the Eastar, I am very satisfy with it; surperb! The petrol used is just 19cents; RM72 for 643km. Remember, this is not a normal smooth N-S Highway, it needs a lot of power gear when up the mountain. So, FC is excellent too. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

After I have completed the 4 doors frame insulation, the car very very quiet and less smoke came into the car. It elliminates the tyres/road noise too. 3 hrs work, worth it! cool.gif

Thanks Bro .... tapi ade satu soklan lagi ...sory la ek aku banyak tanye.

Masa you buka cover frame pintu sebelah dalam tu dia punya plug senang patah ke?
*

Terus tanya, no worry, sharing sahaja utk semua Eastar lovers. Agak senang buka tetapi tak senang pasang ya. Plastic di bawah lantai tepi tak ada plug plastic; senang buka senang pasang balik. Tetapi yg depan tepi tu susah pasang. Jangan risau plug patah, u bolih beli spare di luar kedai accessary(quality lebih bagus). My opinion, boleh cuba kedua-dua pintu belakang dulu(easy), baru try depan. Kalau ada masa, u can try bcos worth. The car really very quiet. To me, I am very satisfy walau pun ambil banyak masa. Saya nak try banyak tempat lagi....share with you later ok?

One more work done earlier for insulation, just sharing. This area is the front mud guard(just behind the front tyres, on the body). Turn the tyre inward, can unplug those plug with small screw driver easily without much problem and losen one screw(size 7). Then the half of the plastic can be lifted side way to do the work. The picture showing flashband is put on the plastic mud guard(double layers) and the body mud guard. You can use yr hand to feel the inner top side of the body mud guard, try to put the flashband until the top. In doing so, they can insulate the tyres/road sound and the sound fr the water splashing onto the plastic mud-guard. This is quite an easy job and does not take much time but very effective. Everyone can try!
