10-R better than 10nsd SVS?
*
I don't think the 10R can get anywhere close to the 10NSD. The size of the NSD is so much bigger and that is already a big plus for sub.

Tun,

The rattling is normally associated with mid-bass. Some subs are tuned to have a peak at this range. And it just loses its balances upon diving below 30Hz.

Most high end sub and well-made sub have a flat tone. This will seams beautifully with your speakers. Anyway, like mys_terious said no right or wrong. It's a matter of personal preference.

I like a sub with flat curve. Easy to integrate and when it comes, it REALLY hit you. If free, come over and you ll know what I am saying.

arremie, you went after he calibrates his sub?
*
this type of peak some sub manufacturer intentional tune in to make their sub sound more powerful to hide their sub's weakness. The end result is user would normally have a turn the volume level down when listen to music as this peak will sound too loud for music.

If the sub is at it's peak on the mid bass, you'll probably get loads of Boom Boom with Power.
From what I experience with the SVS, is that it's pretty real. But you do some how feel that it's not working sometimes, but when it does .. it really DO!
I'm very happy with it and would probably go for a 12", but one thing for sure, it's VERY BALANCED and blends in with any speakers.
Yep Yep do come over.

I wont say it's a weakness, Some speakers are Bright and some are just Harder on the Bass. It's just different and to cater for different taste.
Oh yea, I use the same volume for Movies and Music.
*
To me, its a weakness because it is boosting bass that is not suppose to be there. What we need is real bass, not loud bass. If its there, then blow me away...but if its not there, don't boost it to just to make me feel good about my sub.

I guess it all depends on the tuning of the sub. If there is an artificial peak in the midbass then not so good.

But what if it is flat to 30 Hz then rolls off sharply after that? I wonder how such a sub would sound like.
*
then I guess this kind of sub, you don't really get to hear or rather feel the bottom end of the lower frequency.

Why don't you just buy it direct from svs?  They will charge the delivery cost to your credit card.  smile.gif    How many are you buying? 3, 4, 5. The more the cheaper.  rclxms.gif
*
I'm buying direct from SVS. I requested then for the shipping quote and so far having problem to ship to miri. So have to re-quote to Brunei. I am having very good discount from them because I am combining orders for 2 towers and 5 center speakers with 2 PC12-PLus

Buying so many stuff.....no wonder you so fussy about shipping. Just follow up with them la.

Not fussy. The shipping for so many items is many thousand RM so we have to find a cheaper solution.

True. Of course the SPL is sealed so the box is much smaller.
*
The SPL is not seal type eh?? I thought it is ported with the port on the lower part of the box.

Actually the shipping charges of $945 is for 7.0 speaker system with 2 PC12-Plus.

So I work it out for 1 PC12-Plus alone for me is only USD214.66

After calculating everything, it comes out to RM3611.96 for my PC12-Plus to Brunei Airport.

I heard that the veneered cabinets are from China. The basic black is from USA.
*
Cabinet are very basic thing so even made in china is no problem at all. China do make very high quality product. As long as SVS maintain their standards in their subwoofers, then all should be fine.

Cool. Can't wait for your review. I'm into different type of speaker. Check out JTR speakers. It's a pro audio speaker. Currently try to work out the shipping cost to Malaysia.
*
I am not very good in writing reviews, but will try my best to give my impression of the PC12-Plus once i get it.
