wow....how much you paid for the whole colony of them? this should be quite easy for you to produce them.
*
Not too bad the price for the colony that may produce visual as soon as they lay eggs / eggs hatch !!

Unless the so call pogeny are fake (just normal not Het. ) !! LOL But I reckon worth the price just for the Albino lot alone !!

They are LTC of more than 5 yrs as claim by seller !! - No visual thus I easily convinced him to sell the whole lot to me !!! whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif

ic....whats the figure like for the group? our side or your side the group from? LTC 5years...did not produce any at his side? total how many pcs? hehe
*
My side !! As for the figure you will be suprised but I wont reveal !! Ya 5 years and no visual produced at his side (all 3 visual same sex bah !! )

If their gene work like Ball python just breed the visual back to their pogeny will/should produce visual !!

would keep them and breed. then sell their hatchlings. i think more profitable that way. since is already adult...1year or less you will see result. just my 2cents. unless the offer now is super duper good
*
Will surely keep a set of eggs from the visual before selling (if I do decide to sell one or all) and work from there !! As one of the offer too good too miss , I think !!

grab the offer!

I dont want any of them to end up as a showpiece with no breeding done to produce more of them !!

But I have yet to see them as away will see them in a week or two when I return and decide from there !! Who knows I will reject all offers and keep them for myself - since not much new chelonia project planed for comming year !!

Some US breeder say have to reach 10 inch to be relatively sure about the sex !!

But can guess-timate after say 4 inch (I think ) !!

Hi guys,

I'm looking forward to set up an indoor area for star tortoise but unsure about the lighting setup. I found this brand of product.

Exo-Terra

Can anyone advise me on which type of lamp to use?

Thank you.
*
The all in one Solar Glo
PT2192 125W
PT2193 160W
QUOTE
The proper balance of ultraviolet light (including UVA and UVB), visual light and infrared light (heat)

Will be best if your setup is large enough !! ie 3 ft by 1.5 ft by 2 ft (height) and above Too small you will cook your tortoise in no time ! !

Or you could buy seperate item with different function
- For UVA,UVB use
Repti Glo Compact
Repti Glo 5.0 - Tropical Terrarium Lamp

- Normal 40 - 100 Watt bulb for heat !!

I didn't really trust internet info, but i wanted to ask, what's the largest size a 0.1 Indian Star can grow to? Mine's about plastron size 7" and about 6 years
*
All I can say is anything above 10 inch in this sp is rare !! Let alone 13 or so inches as mention in some books/source. !! F will start to lay about 7 " so watch out or place suitable size M for mating ie 4 inch and above M

But many do say Sri lankan locale Star do max out larger !!

Hello. I'm new at this tortoise as pets issues. I would like to get a tortoise but I'm not sure what kind of tortoise should I choose. Can anyone pls tell me what tortoise is suitable for a beginner like me? smile.gif
*
Turtle will be a better choice but if only tortoise considered try the tropical species like Asian brown or black , elongata , red or yellow footed even Burmese star are good . Radiated n yniphora are good too if price is not an issue here !!!

Hey guys anyone succesfully breed RES turtle before? My friend is giving me 2 RES and I already have 1 just thinking that maybe there is a pair within those 3. I read that have to hibernate them, so how to hibernate them in tropical country?

Thanks
*
You dont have to hibernate them in order to breed !! And they will mate all year round with many clutch a year in our Malaysian Tropics climate !!

They are my first chelonian pets and also my first chelonia breeding project !!But now no more keeping / breeding this sp !!

So how big do they nid to be in order to breed(RES)?
*
On average M > 4" F > 6" for size if grown properly as early as 3 yes old but mostly eggs too small / infertile !!!
