ah ok... number of users.

Does this mean we have failed? blush.gif Sorry about not able to do ads.. Sager's not giving us money to do marketing but we might get around it with Intel and/or the SSD brands.

There seems to be more interest in Singapore for the NP8690 at the moment. Reviews seem to indicate that the GPU temperature reaches around 70 on load. Around 8 degrees lower than the A****w*** M**x.

if I buy Sager NP8662 from Mucro Asia how safe and secure is the process?
How about warranty?
If I have problems i'll have to ship it myself to Mucro Asia?

Im from Miri, Sarawak by the way.. How amny days would that take?

Anyone here bought from Mucro Asia? Please share your experience biggrin.gif
*
Ouch. Sarawak would be difficult for warranty because Vital Computers does not seem to have a branch in East Malaysia to service you. sad.gif
Hopefully we'll get a Malaysian number soon so you guys can call in for tech support and all sorts of queries.

Not so sure if dealers are willing to accept such low margins like the Sager machines. Would be great if they are more of a laptop repair shop(s). Or are they?
We know for sure Sager machines have low margins because of the way Clevo works.

Is "Techkie House" a good one? We need reputable laptop repair shops. Not the type that screws customers. Need to be able to do soldering if possible.

We chose Vital specifically for their good reputation in Low Yat. The Boss also has a good standing at Sim Lim in Singapore.

Sorry we are concerned with warranty first. We can't make an East Malaysian customer travel all the way to the West just to have his laptop serviced. Kuala Lumpur is still quite acceptable for West Malaysia.

Not sure if dealers will accept something like 50MYR for margin on a 5k laptop. Its the sort of margin we make.

For the hard disk temperatures, I think you should not be too concerned if your hard disk is using a Western Digital or Seagate. If you are using a Samsung, I would suggest you to swap it out straight away and not have important data inside. We just had an RMA on a 4 month old Samsung drive. Hitachis and Samsungs fail faster than Seagate/Western D. Hitachi will not fail as often as a Samsung.

In any case, do try to do backups often. A tool like "synctoy" works well with external hard disks or NAS.

Apparently, Seagate and Western D drives produce higher temperatures.

The price you see is already the lowest of the lowest. Any lower, we will start making losses. The price is pegged to the US dollar and you can compare that we are even lower than other resellers (after US->MY shipping cost) in the States with cheaper official warranties than the american resellers. Please note we don't do gimmicky warranties like the other reseller in Singapore, these warranties are real warranties given out by Sager. Giving out official Sager warranties means no hidden charges on parts. We don't have marketing funds to promote Sager because of the cheap prices, so you will need to make do with just this thread. sad.gif

The CPU cover is the one in the notebookreview.com thread here:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread...423878&page=104

We do not do COD in Malaysia for security reasons unless we can find a reliable company that can offer delivery and do COD services with theft insurance.

refurbish unit will not be a problem if you know how to take care of it

G51v almost perform better than NP866, most or less the same, in the end Sager has better heat management

Added on December 31, 2009, 6:55 pmanyone know how to take out the GPU heatsink of NP8662? the heatsink is so big, i've unscrew the 4 screw securing the heatsink, then the 2 long screw securing the card, then take out another 4 screw with string at the processor there (the smaller heatsink), but still i cant take out the whole heatsink, i can loosen the heatsink at the processor there but the GPU one is really hard

anyone know how to do it?

QUOTE(amduser @ Jan 14 2010, 08:34 PM)
no one know how to remove it?

this thread is really dying or died, why there are not much sager users here cry.gif

Don't take out the heatsink for your laptop unless you want to void your warranty. The thermal pad is securely fastened to your machine. If you are a noobie and don't know what you are doing, don't take out your heatsink unless you want your laptop to die an early death.

First of all, lets clarify the situation with ATI mobility 5870 video cards inside any of the branded laptops.

* DO NOT INSTALL LINUX.

ATI does not have official support for the 5870 mobility yet. If you install linux into your laptop, you may suffer from side effects on your laptop.

If you really want to run linux on your laptop. You have only three options:
1. Get a laptop with an Nvidia card. Why? Because Nvidia has stable drivers for linux.

2. Wait for ATI to OFFICIALLY release a STABLE set of drivers for the 5000 series mobility card that SUPPORTS your video card.

3. Get a laptop with the 4000 series ATI mobility cards.

Let me stress again that you should NOT install linux for ATI unless you are prepared for RMAs and strange side effects. Just because it "works" DOES NOT MEAN YOU WILL NOT ENCOUNTER PROBLEMS.

NEVER RUN A DRIVER THAT IS NOT OFFICIALLY DESIGNED FOR YOUR VIDEO CARD.

If you are running a PRE-RELEASE, BETA or EXPERIMENTAL driver, use at your own risk.

FYI the NP8690 does not cost 8-9k Ringgit anymore. It actually starts at 4k+ because Sager decided to put in a cheap 450M CPU. at the starting price

Sager also decided to lower their warranty prices until 31 Aug. Because they have lowered their warranty prices, we have also decided to lower the prices by 1% until 31 Aug.

For warranty, we advise you to get the Sager warranties because they are the original Sager manufacturer warranty. This is being paid to Sager and gives you more assurance as it shows your warranty duration on sagernotebook.com.
Labour and Mucro addon warranties only apply to what we are paying locally to the Malaysian Service Centre.
Warranty replacement for parts is more important because parts are very expensive and costs are determined by Sager.

There was a bug in the foreign exchange component of the shopping cart. It is fixed now to reflect Sager's actual pricing.

Your machine was a little bit special as we had the parts for your machine. Rest assured that your warranty is the correct one as the one in the invoice as you will be able to check your warranty in http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.php?page=warranty_check

All the parts in your laptop are Sager parts except for the hard disk, which has a 3 year Seagate warranty.
Also you have a free upgrade of the wifi card.

anyone knows how this will fare against what Sager has ? : G53

I configured the Sager NP8690 with the same specs and it came to be 450+USD more exp !

added on both machines,

8GB DDR3
Blueray reader
i7 740M

The Sager unfortunately has 2x4GB RAM while the Asus is using 4x2GB parts. The 4GB RAM is still expensive these days.
Our Asus supplier is starting to improve now so we are also able to import the Asus at a sufficient time frame. Maybe you guys can compare the cost and let us know if we are too expensive when compared to shipping from the US resellers. sweat.gif

so how much does mucro asia sell for these specs
xoticpc is by far the cheapest ive seen.

$4,878.00+$56(shipping)

and pls include shipping cost to canada. postal code is T1K 4W1
*
Our prices include shipping into Asia. If you're in Canada, its best for you to get one from a Canadian reseller. That said, We're not sure if Sager is willing to ship to Canada under our account.

We can "pricematch" anyones price if the shipping option used is POS Malaysia.
Just ask if you were quoted where, when and how much and we *should* be able to offer a lower price provided the shipping used is POS Malaysia. Please remember that our costs are higher because we are using experienced service centres and we need to pay them everytime you have a warranty issue. Also, we have to use Sager's warranties as it is safer to get cover from them.
When you have serious warranty problems, we will ask you to send the laptop/defective part to our office in Singapore, you do not need to send back to the USA. Shipping back to you is free as long as it is covered during warranty period. You might need to pay for shipping to the USA if you are using a US reseller.
Remember our prices have the OS included and you need to remove the OS for a better comparison with the US resellers.

Also Sager says physical damage is not covered so it would be best if you call up a local insurance company to cover the accidental/physical damage for your laptop.

If you buy in Singapore you need to pay GST, Singapore GST refund is available at the airport.

it means that we have to pay twice for postage (send to mucro and then mucro send it back to us)? hmm.gif

During warranty, when we send things to you. Its free. Except when its considered "out of warranty". "Out of warranty" items have to pay all the costs, to/from shipping cost plus handling charge and partsand labour cost.
What we consider "Out of warranty" are items that have been tampered with, components/chips removed, etc. This does not apply to normal people.

Sometimes, if its just for a small job. You just need to go to the service centre in KL and get it fixed.
If you have a problem, you need to tell us BEFOREHAND as we need to make sure that the service centre will have the parts to fix it for you.
