QUOTE(Bankster @ Feb 8 2009, 11:20 PM)
yes! this sager are still from xoticpc, they are still the best place to get a clevo/sager notebook at a very considerable price!!

I myself was very surprised that a bidder would actually buy it on that price i thought of changing the price to only 2.2k if it doesnt sell well but behold suddenly someone wants it more, i also give some nice free gifts which is;
1) cooler pad zalman NC-1000
2) Pendrive 8GB
3) headphones
4) Card reader
5) Kaspersky AV 2009 original
6) mouse - rm 8 only

i think that the reason someone bought it...

nice beast the NP9262 it got a freaking SLI 9800m GTX dude!! that is a monster, of course it would be a godzilla if you got the Quad-core CPU  !!!! i thought of getting one after i sold my NP5796 but since the weight are kinda a killer for me... so decided to go back to the NP5797...

p/s: im from sabah~~~~~, east malaysia roxx sager world!!!!! or is it west??~~`
*
Yeap, well i needed something that can play current and coming games at highest setting while last at least a year brows.gif. As for quad-core or dual-core, it did crossed my mind but most available review informed that unless the laptop is for application and multitasking uses, it will be pointless to get a quadcore. Games utilizes part of cpu speed(individual cpu speed matters more rather than no. of cpus available) as the quadcore runs at lower speed, besides ram and harddisk of course. cool2.gif while very much dependent on cpu memory and speed. brows.gif . Therefore monster or godzilla pretty much depend on what u intend the laptop for tongue.gif .

Frankly speaking the lappie is pretty huge and heavy expecially the power adapter besides the lappie itself of course sweat.gif so i had to buy a trolley laptop bag and wolla all problem solved thumbup.gif. Luckily the width is about an inch smaller compared to my sony(having trouble finding a trolley type laptop bag that can fit it in) lappie. At the moment still 'burning in' my lappie, the speaker sound solid and surprisingly better than my sony lappie,4 speakers vs 2 speakers tongue.gif . As for the benchmark and games, i will post it up later as currently kinna busy sweat.gif . And the temperature for cpu ranging from 38 to 45 while gpu at around 50 but i do have my laptop cooler(zalman nc-2000) together tongue.gif .

Hm... Do Singapore charge taxes for notebook? Try check with your local custom.

@Bankster

Yes... I'm referring to college of course, hard to imagine anything below than that need to carry notebook to school (With all the textbooks... You have to have plenty of muscle to kill lol )

Never own a 17" before and since its not much more heavier; ~0.5kg, might consider it on my next investment. Thanks for the reply.
*
Yeah lo, thought your lappie's still 'fresh'?, addicted to the technology 'poison' laugh.gif ? But for college life u can always get a backpack which will definitely ease off loads from your arm instead. During my days in uni life, i rarely carry any text books around as there are libraries and in most cases file case will be more than sufficient so bringing a lappie around in a backpack not a hassle lo. laugh.gif

haha .. have to scroll all the way to the end tho.  not much promoting on my part  blush.gif , i'm sure most of the members here would have bought the same lappie with or without this thread
*
Well that's not entirely true laugh.gif . At the start, i had no idea that it is actually 'practically and safe' to directly 'import' or buy electronic items outside of our country. Therefore my mind was still binded to those laptop brands available only in malaysia. But out of all, none met my expected specs except for dell xps 1730. I put the purchase on hold as i have yet to make up my mind until i bumped into this thread laugh.gif . The rest of the story u know, the performance vs price wise suit to my expectation in fact exceeded my expectation laugh.gif so i bought it straight away lo.

Conclusion to it, without your thread corad, i might end up with a dell xps 1730 with me instead and probably even regreted my buying tongue.gif . therefore the credits do go to u for introducing a good and reliable laptop brand and supplier. Kudos i must say. notworthy.gif thumbup.gif

The speakers? I can say very good brows.gif sweat.gif . One of the best if not the best among other laptops. Personally i have yet to audit the latest model which comes with bass reflex and subwoofer but the 1 i did audited had superb real life like music expecially on treble and clarity. But i forgot which model it is doh.gif . Conclusion Toshiba or laptops with built in harmon kardon speakers still had no rivals when it come to sound wise.

Well the thread seems pretty quiet these few days? All busy 'burning in' their 'new sager' lol. Guess I'll start off by breaking some ice around here hehe.

Anyway benchmarked with 3dmark06 trial version and managed to get 13.7k only with sli enable. Pretty low eh for 9800m gtx sli? No idea as everything's on stock and using latest nvidia notebook driver 170.20 i think.

Atm using ori vista ultimate 32bit. As for games, tried out with crysis warhead and farcry2.

Crysis warhead

Setting@gamers spec
Resolution @ 1920 with no anti aliasing.
Fps while gaming varies from 20 to 60, certain part of the game fps drop to 10 lol.

Farcry 2
Setting @ very high(ultra high and with anti-aliasing@8x, fps@around 10)
No anti aliasing
Resolution @ 1920
Fps while gaming varies from 30-60.

All games are 'lanun' version hehe. Have yet to acquired the ori version.

Conclusion even with the best laptop in the world, seems like the current games are still a level above to be playable with 'highest' setting lol.

I don't think bro corad can can help u on the 10% affliate programe discount. Refer to here http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/820915/+460 for clarification. But still without the 10% discount, the price vs performance is still at the top among other laptops brows.gif thumbup.gif .

Oh ya u might wana consider taking off the creative labs sound blaster x-fi 7.1. Either u take it off from your order or it will be taken off from your order automatically after the order confirmed as it is at 'back order' status = no stock. Trust me as i did the same as u before. laugh.gif

Just wondering, any other np9262 users here or in m'sia?

Recent update downloaded fear 2 demo version, max out all settings and resolutions and managed to get fps lowest at 30 and highest at 55.

After about 2 hours of playing, check and temperature was around 60 for 1 gc while the other gc was around 52.

Latest news with the release of asus w90, ati officially 'dethrone' nvidia's top end mobile gc 9800mgtx with their flagship gc ati 4870.

Sadly so but still there are good news as in the near future, sager will outlast asus w90 in term of the ability to change and upgrade it's component hardwares.

Therefore conclusion, sager is still a better buy although price vs performance wise and of course design losses out to the latest release by asus w90.

Hi guys... I just found out this great thread.. and do let me revive and bump up this thread!

I just ordered a Sager NP5793 from Singapore and now anxiously waiting for my lappie to be delivered.. rclxms.gif

The specs are as below:-

Display:17" WUXGA LCD with Matte Finish Surface (1920x1200)

Processor:45nm IntelĀ® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9300 / 6MB L2 Cache 2.50GHz 800MHz FSB

Video & Graphics Card:Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTS Graphics with 1GB DDR3 Video Memory

Operating System:Genuine MS WindowsĀ® VISTA Home Premium 32/64-Bit Edition

Memory:4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 2 X 2048MB

Primary Hard Disk Drive:320GB 7200rpm SATA 300 Hard Drive

Optical Drive:2X Blu-ray Reader/8X DVD R/2.4X DL Super-Multi Drive

Wireless Network Card:Intel Wi-Fi Link 5300AGN - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module (add 68)

Intel Robson Technology:Intel 2GB TurboMemory Module

Primary Battery:Smart Li-ION Battery Pack (8 Cells)

Integrated Security Device:Fingerprint Reader

PLUS: Free gift of a Free Edifier M1335 Multimedia System worth SGD59

And the price I pay is SGD3,000 = RM7,000 (overpriced or value buy?) No additional charges and inclusive of GST and free delivery.

Plus: Since I order from Singapore, the warranty is being covered both in Singapore and Sager USA. So, if anything spoilt, I can just sent it back to Singapore office by hand and no need to sent back to USA which can save me substantial shipping cost.

Bad thing is still have to wait for another 5-7 working days for my lappy to get into my hands... and I cant obtain another 3% discount bcos I din pay in cheque or cash.
*
Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the club bro rclxms.gif thumbup.gif . Don't forget to post some review and benchmarks when u get your lappie brows.gif biggrin.gif .

Would like to enquire more about the shipping method. Is shipping free from xoticpc to USA?

If it is, is it possible to use vPOST to do my shipping then? Theoretically I could save the USD250+ shipping charges and only pay about at most SGD50 for the shipping charges to my Malaysian address.
*
I don't think so as currently only two type of shipping provided by xoticpc for international purchases as such UPS and USPS. Where as USPS are much cheaper compared to UPS and the price is standard for USPS at US223 for all kind and sizes of laptop available at xoticpc. But nevertheless u can try and email them(xoticpc) at service@xoticpc.com to enquire regarding your interest of using other shipping service.

Dammit, I not his dupe lah, dun misunderstand lah, I know this guy just joined March 09. Give ppl chance lah.
If you want to pay by international credit cards, you can order from SG Cube and pay by installments. You can oso pay by cheque or cash and in return you will be awarded a 3% discount on total cost.

The good thing is whenever your laptop is faulty, you can always bring back to them and they will take care of your warantly and the shipping costs unlike for those who order directly from XoticPC as they will have to bear their own shipping cost (izit USD223 one way?). You may request them to fix it by SG Cube technical team (if you want ur laptop to be fix it fast) or request them to sent it back to Sager USA (if you don't mind to wait for 3 weeks).

I oso sent an email to Sager USA to verify their authentication as a authorised Sager reseller in Spore.

Attached is the screenie for the email conversation.

Since I am working in Spore so I just ordered from them and I am going to receive it at my doorstep on Tuesday morning. icon_rolleyes.gif

I see... Good for you that you can order Sager's laptop ... Does it takes extra fees or what to deliever to Malaysia?

The price for the Sager's laptop in SG cube is so much more expensive than XoticPC. Is it that the shipping fee from US to SG is included? So that makes the price so expensive?

Sound good to me that it got warranties and services. Does the warranty works in Malaysia?

Sorry for asking so many questions..

From a 5k laptop to 6.3k ????

Which model u are particularly interested in?

Atm the currency exchange rate is kinna high from RM to US dollars so very few(only mid-low end) models will fit in your budget if u plan to buy from xoticpc. sweat.gif

I don't think it is possible to pay via installment right>??

Well your budget will be pretty tight drawn if you are planning to go ahead with np8662 and at the very basic spec.

Bro at least your lappie is confirmed able to fully support gtx 280m.

2 months wait is nothing compared to mine as yet to confirm whether able to support it or not.

Felt like endless wait lol.

CLevo, come on and release the bios support for np9262 lol.

Not sure where to buy from yet but thinking of buying from xoticpc.com. Or maybe buy a backbone from Rjtech with cpu & graphic card. Survey the price of hardisk & ram here in Malaysia are more cheaper.

Thinking of buying NP8662 but might have to let go if not affordable.

Ofcourse need a new one with receipt so can claim later.

I wouldn't say that he is 'very generous' b'cause he already turn me down on a better specs deal of a laptop. And that it isn't confirm that i get the 6.5k yet.

I mean that u have used 2 laptops already and getting a new one which altogether combine would cost almost Rm8k - Rm10k right? Well i'm trying to save his as* and money (if he realise it) by building a laptop that could last longer than others. Not to mention far better than any laptop u can get in Malaysia.

All he kept saying is "..bla bla bla..cut less, more profits...". And he said he just bought a Sony laptop only for Rm3xxx ++ for himself. (i know when he said this, he must be wondering why mine cost a lot more than his).

i work as a web designer and a little bit less of a programmer at his company. And he's trying to let me work on a stupid laptop.
*
Well that's true but then those i used were from different projects and span along few years of working. Totally incomparable to yours getting your 1st(or is it your 1st company laptop?) company laptop with high end specs and cost a bomb.

It is normal actually for bosses/managers to maintain the cost or budget for a project therefore u can't entirely blame him also. U'll understand when u climb to a post as same as his tongue.gif sweat.gif .

My boss is currently using dell latitude e series laptop so are all other managers as the company limits the purchases of new laptops pending position and max to a certain spec doh.gif . As we don't dealt with high level of graphical application only autocad therefore the company decided to put a cap on our company laptops doh.gif .

Anyway there are not many laptops 'far better' in fact even comparable to np8662 not to mention np5797(equipped with world fastest gc and an option to get extreme processor) u can get in m'sia. Except for dell xps 1730,cost a bomb too with 9800mgtx in sli, i dont see any other laptops available locally which can even come close to np8662. shakehead.gif thumbup.gif

The downside is the fonts are really really too small. Really need time to get use to it. I am now torrenting L4D oso btw...  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

The trial or complete version? Anyway we'll discuss further in pm laugh.gif or else very soon the mod will poke in and drop a 'aloha' here tongue.gif .

I totally agree on that when applying 1920x1200 resolution. But u can enlarge the fonts to your liking at the control panel though if you are not comfortable with the font suddenly = so small laugh.gif tongue.gif .

By the way the D900F is currently available for pre-order and accordingly they ship all around the world.
