if i had to choose between M17x GTX280M SLi and Sager 18.6" GTX280M SLi(i forgot the name, sorry), i totally prefer M17x.
but for 15" laptop, i surely choose Sager NP8690 due to better GPU. laugh.gif

about the heating, for me both of them already in A level.
it just a matter between A+ or just normal A.

just my two cents though~ smile.gif

OMG, I don't own both but I come here to get feedback and I feel this comparison's thing is a little childish don't  you think?  rclxub.gif

C'mon, their both gaming notebooks with different looks, some like it this way, some like it the other.

From what I gather, both have their pros and cons from design, to warranty issues, to weight, to power, price etc....
Make it easy for us would be buyers to choose Sager or AW or we'll be just browsing through useless information here.
C'mon people..... don't take these personal. icon_rolleyes.gif I'd get both if I can
*
i will get both. it just a matter of time biggrin.gif

Fuuhhh... The appearance... It's just superb. The screen is very clear and bright. The build quality is great. The LCD hinge feels a bit loose but it's OK for me. When I hold the laptop, I feel like I can't drop it even if I wanted to cuz it feels very solid.

A question: Do I need to keep the charger plugged in when I want to power on the laptop or can I remove the battery and keep the charger plugged in?
*
no review with drill? biggrin.gif

answer : i don't see any problem with that smile.gif but better plug in charger all the time so your power-hunger's laptop can perform maximally.

u mean np8690 right..  icon_rolleyes.gif
check it out at mucro.asia and np8690 got gtx285m and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870(less RM100++ from gtx285m)
wonder if there are lot of difference between those two or just same graphic performance? hmm.gif
*
if the comparison is between single GTX285M and single HD5870M, choose HD5870M for superb low temp and low power consumption smile.gif

processor doesn't give much improvement in games, most of the games utilize the GPU more than CPU, there are only one game titles that has better utilize on core i7 - that it RE5.

but GTA4 also, need better cpu to get better framerate because of the failed port
*
GTA4 does need better CPU but in term of clockspeed, and HTT of i7 will not help at all in this case.

HTT is only better if the game's / software's engine can optimize it.

lol if you really want to compare both two models, please choose GTX260M instead or GT240. yet, HD5870 still pawn GTX260M kaw-kaw.

only one major aspect that Alienware can win over Sager, which is bling-bling.

if thats not an important point for you, go for sager smile.gif

Sidenote: I'm quite anxious as to when Mucro would email me that my new GPU has arrived. XD I can't wait. Also, anyone has any idea how much I can sell my GTX 280M for? Saw a brand new one on Ebay US for $600. Another one on RJTech, $490. rclxub.gif
*
its roughly USD600 for the GTX280M that is taken from a laptop (which mean not straight from factory)

and i don't think many Malaysian interested in buying it.

Even for used ones? Like mine?

I kinda figured that out when my friends asked me "Can switch GPU?!"
*
how long had you use your GTX280M ?

hm depend on the type of laptop. sadly Alienware M15x mobo can't support GTX280M. if not, your GPU is like pisang goreng panas already laugh.gif

m15x cant? i thought it got choice for GTX260m or GTX280m?

i dont know my np8662 can support or not, but still $600 is too expensive for me sad.gif
*
nope. its between GT240M and GTX260M. its have something related to mobo where it cannot read GTX280M.

your np8662 currently using what model of GPU? USD600 is really expensive, considering new model such as HD5870 is just near that price.
