Hi, will the salary for a fresh grad for the position of Network Engineer (or other similar network related positions) be higher if the candidate has a CCNA? If so, how much higher? A few hundred bucks extra? How much?
I need the information to negotiate my salary. I will be getting my CCNA before I start my new job next month. Can I ask the company to add RM300 to my basic if I get my CCNA before I start the job? Will they accept it?

You can try to negotiate. But CCNA now is too common as a lot of people having this cert. -pWs-

Just nego with them and show that u have extra skills compare with those fresh grad without CCNA. But ur chance of getting the job still higher if compare with fresh grad without CCNA. From what i heard, in network field, cert is important. -.- You got extra cert, means u got extra skills and you got the power to nego ur salary with it. But pls, nego within the acceptable range. @@

as you already agreed on the offer, now u wan to re-nego?
in fact, ccna is not much of a huge symbol. it just perhaps help u to get networking job a lil easier but not higher pay.
let's say....
now u passed ur ccnp by only refering testking and pass4sure, can that prove you are really professional in networking?
it's hard to justify.
i think better u jus accept the offer and when u got cert and experience and prove ur worth to ur boss, try nego with them or find a greener pasture.

I never agreed on the salary. During the interview, the interviewer told me about the salary. I just sat there and didn't say anything. I didn't agree or disagree with the proposed salary.
Anyway, I gotta go collect/sign the offer letter at 11am today. Hopefully, they will consider increasing the salary. Wish me luck.

lol I dont think you can demand higher salary with CCNA. CCNA is an extra "credit" to your qualifications, nothing more. You can nego for better salary but dont give excuse becoz of your CCNA. Everyone has CCNA now.

You will be more valuable if you gain a little bit of working experience. CCNA won't bring you any/much quick early freshie starting salary. It is merely a multiplying factor later on once you gain any working knowledge on some working switches.
You can always try to approch your HR and say you have recently got this extra qualification and you ask for your salary adjusted to your qualification. HR need to be informed anyway.

Alright, I went to the company to sign the offer letter earlier today. The HR lady said the salary can't be changed now as it is the standard salary they offer to all fresh grads that join their company. She said that the salary can be revised later on after my performance evaluation. Her explanation was good and I really wanna work here so I've accepted the offer.
Thanks for all your input here guys. It was very helpful.

CCNA cert no value adi la. Everyone can pass CCNA. Even CCNP also alot adi. Somemore Malaysia employer DONT recognize cert de la. As long as you got skill and they never enuf demanding. If you told the employee that you have CCNA and use it as a nego power then they only look you as cocky fresh grad only. Maybe you could mention you already obtain CCNA and adi fulfill their basic requirement as fresh grad then that maybe will give you better chances in MNC. Please don mention those "ikan bilis" company. They only hired people who got a cert called OLK aka One Leg Kicking. Now that's our Malaysia market. Good Luck !!!

The only worthwhile cert is the CCIE. Big service provider company like HP pay high for such ppl with CCIE as the network specialist. I know those CCIE can easily get like 5 figure income monthly. But seem like more n more ppl hv CCIE dy
