is always nice to play against another big 4...

hope the best team win....

i have a feeling it'll be a great game. the matches involving chelsea and liverpool are generally played in good spirits over the last few seasons rite?
hope it continues that way. we deal with other fixtures first, and then we meet. gene hackman vs rafa! rclxm9.gif

just to clarify something to you boys in blue  icon_rolleyes.gif

The Kop is a stand in Anfield stadium and not a nickname for Liverpool FC
usually i would be ok ppl giving us nicknames but this nick is not used by anyone outside Malaysia lol

so just to let some of those here who doesnt know about it
Koppites are the nickname for fans, not the club
its quite akward that when ppl say Kop...

like saying stadium bukit jalil vs Kedah FC lol

cheers  thumbup.gif

*sadly tho i even see the mistake of ppl calling Liverpool as Kop in the newspapers
*
allritey man. thanks for the info.
in the newspapers too eh...yea i think i've seen it before laugh.gif

skrtel gives drogba the hardest time..but...both will not be around. haih ohmy.gif
agger's freekick goal in the champions league is still quite fresh in my mind. was furious with our defensive wall at the time tongue.gif
at times like these, i hope rafa gets the irresistable urge to tinker with the line up..hehe. but it seems he does that a lot less nowadays?

its hard to say, they are recovering and even if they do recover, its not sure that they've had enough training for the match. lets just settle boro first before moving on to liverpool.

correction, i think deco might be playing, his injury is lighter than carvalho's.

Ibrahimovic hails Mourinho as ''complete coach''

By Soccernet staff

Internazionale striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has hailed Jose Mourinho as ''the most complete coach'' he has played under and believes the former Chelsea and Porto coach has already had a huge impact on his career.

GettyImages

Peas in a pod: Ibramhimovich and Mourinho.

Often inconsistent and temperamental Sweden international told the club's official website: ''In only two or three months with him I have learned a lot, perhaps more than what I have learned in the last five years at the same level.''

''[Moruinho] is most certainly the most complete coach that I have ever had. I think he can help me improve a lot.''

Reading between the lines of Ibrahimovic's comments is seems the striker holds littlel lasting respect for Mourinho's predecessors in the Nerazzurri hot-seat, Fabio Capello and Roberto Mancini.

Mourinho joined the Italian champions this summer replacing Mancini, who guided Inter to three successive league titles before being dismissed.

The self-styled 'Special One' has already achieved success at Inter with his team winning the Italian Supercoppa in August, and after six games Inter are joint Serie A leaders alongside Lazio and Udinese and remain unbeaten in the Champions League.

However it hasn't all been smooth sailing for Mourinho who is enduring a torrid time with the Italian media after several run-ins over his tendency to send his assistant to press conference and ducking the chance to be interviewed at the same time as Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri live on television.

Mourinho is a true legend!
I will never forget the day he started to coach Chelsea!
He gave us the confidence that we can win many cups and fight with other top teams!
He also help the players by absorbing the media attention himself just to let his players stay focus on the pitch.
The success is already built and Scolari is carrying his legacy!!

Good job on the site madfag, keep up the good work.

Another pointer would be to update matches carried live plus times and dates for the benefit of those wanting to catch such matches.

aw is not asking you to update live. He is referring to the information of the live broadcast on the tv so that the others won't miss the matches. smile.gif

Anyway, good luck in managing the thread. So far, it has been passed down to good hands. We're looking forward to see how you can cope with this one. Keep up the good work, mate.

u mean besides the goal post? haha couldn't help it laugh.gif

hmm looks like we have the malouda camp on one side and the kalou camp on the other hmm.gif
it would be interesting to see both on at the same time, but kalou does better on the left cos he's very good at cutting in onto his fave right foot.
besides that, we have joe cole. kalou needs games to remain consistent, and to me malouda seems to stuggle against the big teams.
kalou saved our ass by getting the equaliser at home against spurs during the carling cup in mourinho's last full season, (a high pressure game as we were chasing the match) and other examples include the 2 great games he had in both legs against liverpool in the ucl, (his cross lead to riise putting through his own net for the away leg, and he cut in for a good shot to trouble reina with drogs following up for the breakthrough at home)
his equaliser against utd is another indication that he's one for the tough teams.

malouda on the other hand is slightly faster and more direct, with wicked crosses when he's on form. he fights for every ball and is definitely more aggressive than kalou and this earns him some extra brownie points. but its hard to recall a good solid performance by the lad against a top team. so this makes me slightly in favour of our ivorian. however if i could experiment, i'd give malouda a chance on the right to see how good he can cut inside, dribble, or unleash some ferocious shots from that left foot of his.

Great job indeed madfag for starting the thread.
It's great to see Chelsea FC supporters supporting each other and to be frank, I'm proud to be the Blues fan.

Truly hope that madfag will bring continuous updates to the thread and most importantly, keep the blue flag flying high!

Ivanovic really impressed me in the game against villa. Defended really well, got alot of headers. So far, all our center backs are playing really well, terry and carvalho are superb but alex and ivanovic arent too far away laugh.gif

Another interesting trivia is Terry started out as a central midfielder but deputised as CB due to player shortage one day and he had not looked back ever since.

a tip to avoid that is u just discuss something short, and cheer all u want at the end of the sentence rclxms.gif
i do see a lot of one liner cheers on other teams' threads. but i doubt they all got a warning.
so maybe you're just unlucky mate.

What is this? Although we're supporting the same club, I don't find this justified. This is so wrong and should not even be a tips or anything.

We have been reminding our mates here, for not to flame baits in the other threads or spam. So, I hope that we can keep our tradition. Do not let the others feel that we're worthless. Post wisely. If there is anything that you do not agree with, argue with facts and the right points. If it is a flame bait or spam, ignore and report. That's how things go. Whosoever that breaks the rules, should be punished. It is the rules.

Posts like "reporting in" or "congratulations on the new thread" or even "I love Chels! I love Chels!" should not be practised in the first place. I wanted to warn you guys but I didn't. It was my fault in failing to do so. Imagine, if everyone in the fans list post things like that, how many posts have we wasted in this thread? Plus, does it serve any meaningful purpose?

Anyway, it is good that you guys voice the love for the club publicly with passion but no, we don't do that in this forum. We're being monitored. I don't mind you sing your lungs out in the street, pubs, mamak stalls for Chelsea because I do so too, and I believe the others as well. But doing it here, well.. at least, not just an one-liner cheers.

P/s: Adam, I understand the feeling. But cheering without any specific purpose is considered spamming. I'm sorry for you. Btw, which post of yours is reported? I can see that the others deserve the warning more than you (if you read from the first page).

well the point is if u discuss something relevant or give a positive comment regarding chelsea and add 'keep the blue flag flying high,' 'come on you blues..etc,etc' at the end of the sentence it isn't considered spam. not at least from my understanding. heck aren't we allowed to cheer for our team?
i did the comment + cheer thingy a few times and have never been warned btw. of course the comment has to be longer than a couple of words. i admit i have seen many 'pure' spamming posts here but i believe it isn't as serious as in some of the other threads.
back to the footie.

Are you not contradicting yourself? At first you were saying something like "just discuss something short and continue with cheering" and now you're talking about something relevant.

Anyway, I think you have to scroll back and reread what I've posted in the earlier post. I do not state that cheering isn't allowed but it has to be done in the right way.

Well, I rest my case here. No hard feeling.

Bro,
Cheering isn't an offense, but wasting bandwidth cheering here in CHELSEAFC thread without offering any meaningful facts or posts, that's a menace.
I cheered for the club, but I added in some substances as well. That well defines what's a forum, a place for discussions, meaningful discussions. If you post something solely for cheering purpose, then what for we need the thread? And why do we need this forum? You can simple sing you heart out aloud anytime anywhere and no one objects.

This is a place where R&R are applied, we as the forumers, should respect it.

ballack, kalou and ivanovic all on the score sheet for their respective countries! rclxm9.gif
marimo if u observe alex's performances for psv, he was mighty impressive!
even getting the winning header against arsenal during the group stages of the ucl not too long ago.
but at chelsea he hasn't matched that form due to a lack of games i think.
so ivanovic gets my vote now mainly because he's hit the ground running.

I remember one block from Alex during Manu game. It was superb!
Btw, Alex is a good defender, dominating the air but still a lil slow compared to Ricky.

i wud say that im agree with you,but he cant simply be the 1st eleven if terry and calvalho still on form or un-injured.

So,i dont know how,or when can he played unless our key player is injured or exhausted..but yet, ivanovic and alex..both a great replacement for our current players( JT and calvalho)

depends on who our opponent are.
If we are against team play fast football, better use ivanovic.
If against team that rely on set pieces, then better use Alex.

yup good point micro. but if a team uses a combination of both, ivanovic would be the 'safe' choice i guess. terry can help deal with the aerial threat.
we don't have to worry about the central position that's for sure. terry gets some much needed rest from internationals. sometimes our 'bionic man' tends to play with injuries and that could work against him in the long run sweat.gif

yeah...our defend god...is....up to any task...even if hes injured...
he is there to play for the club...terry is juz too superb....this is the type of player...where...everybody wans in their club...

You guys are forgetting one important aspect of being a defender, its positioning. That's why Ricky is better than both Alex and Ivanovic because he doesn't need to second guess where the striker/midfielder to go, when is he going to strike, etc. Good example is Ricky's game @ man city recently.

In terms of experience, Riccy is the type of player we needed. Great positioning and he has sight on goal too!

In terms of speed, Inanovic can match up to it but then he is still too young to break through the ranks. He does well in international stage alongside with Vidic and that's why we bought him! Scolari will do anything to breed this young prospect.

But the best defender still goes to the Mr.Chelsea. He is not perfect, but close to perfection. biggrin.gif

Neither John Terry nor Ashley Cole will take part in England's Wednesday international away in Belarus.

Ouch, its been 6 pages before I came with my 1st post at the new thread... work sucks XD~

Oh well, chill about CHE vs LIV just yet... we have 'boro this weekend aye~
is Cech fully fit to play? Im so unsettled if he doesnt play lol...

About our defense line, yeah...Iva is good, he will need more games in order to develop and Im pretty sure Scolari has it set in his diary of coaching..it may sound rude but, if we have our stallion, strong and paceful...one day it will gets old, and die..therefore Carvalho is the man for the job! his positioning is good in both defend/attacking pieces wink.gif..and when Iva is to shine maybe in the next season or 2?

Chelsea for teh win!

more players being added into the crocked list. but nothing too serious right? deco and joe cole should be returning against boro i think..we seem to be going through a rough patch now with regards to players' fitness. well its the second stringers' chance to impress now..so it could work out to be a good thing for us.

Bro, he meant we have a shortage of CBs. Bosingwa, Ferreira & Bridge can't cover as CB. But we do have Mancienne from the reserves. He was on the bench in the match against Cluj I think. I rmb Ferreira covered as CB before for Chelsea. I could be mistaken him for someone else.

yeah, what i was meaning to say is they could take over as CB for one or two matches, you never know, they might do a better job than their preferred position and end up becoming a CB smile.gif

drogba is a lone striker and he plays better being a lone striker. a change of formation might not do his play so good. so far this season, i think drogba hasnt fit in yet (imho). what are your take on this guys?

4-1-4-1, so far so good laugh.gif

bro, that's as good as spamming to increase your post count.
I've always loved bridgey and who can forget the time when bridgey hit it past lehman to make it 2-1!
follow follow follow!
there was only 2 minutes to go!
it was wayne bridge's goal that sent us out of control
that sent the arsenal out of euro!
and cudicini is still world class
*
ahh who can forget bridgey's fantastic side-foot finish against lehman! it was a one-two off lamps wasn't it? brilliant goal! rclxm9.gif
and i still maintain my stance that bridge is one of the best crossers we have..now that bosingwa's in, i'd love to see them whipping in some beauties from the flanks against boro!

anelka is angin type soetime play good some time no good . to me he so so only

the reason 442 is at least give kalou a chance to play as striker ,

i like bridge very much he is good , glen johnson is also good but too bad we sell him away

the lousy is Ferreira passing like shit , defending like so so . is better sell this guy than glen johnson

bosingwa is alot better than ferreira

We still have Fereira. Hughes is interested on our left back Wayne Bridge and he planning to launch a bid for him @ Jan transfer market. hmm.gif I wonder if he wants to go. But anyhow, Boro should be an easy task for our blue boys! flex.gif

Just out of curiousity, what with our 'depleted' squad and all that...which former player would you have wished we didn't have sold/loaned in the past few years? Seeing that some of them are still active in the EPL even...

Parker, Cole - West Ham
Duff, Geremi - Newcastle
Sahar, Johnson, Diarra - Portsmouth
Ben Haim, SWP - Man City
Huth - Middlesbrough
Melchiot - Wigan
Sidwell - Villa
Pizarro - Bremen
Shevchenko - Milan
Crespo - Inter
Veron - Estudiantes (IINM)
Robben - Real Madrid

Edited for
Gudjohnsen - Barcelona
Boulahrouz - Stuttgart (IINM)
Kezman - Atletico (IINM)
Maniche - Atletico
Mutu - Fiorentina
Tiago - Juventus (still there?)
Smertin - Unknown

Care to share who...and why?

U forgetten about Eiður Guðjohnsen... currently in FC Barcelona and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink currently in Cardiff FC... These 2 players were the dynamic duo that conquered the 2000-2001 Season. Sadly we lost the FA Cup finals...

I rated Hasselbaik wayyyy better than Drogba.

Crespo
his aerial is amongst the best we had..
his pace and his speed in front of opponents can be a very vital key leading to more goals.
furthermore, he's almost the same type as shevchenko always on the up front and can create goals from many angles and areas..

but i still want andrian mutu if possible.. he is a nice and very good player...

Sheva is good too? Shall we take him back as well?
Each player has different ability to adapt to the BPL.
Even with Kaka on form, not many dare to say he will be a huge success in BPL if we had brought him over!
The league is sooooo different compared to the others. Eg, physically-demanding.

however we have an up and coming replacement in the form of youngster miroslav stoch. reminds me a lot of robben smile.gif

sorry guys, i malas to read back the previous posts, but i'm guessing you guys are talking about bringing back old players

i'll pick guddy, jimmy (although too old tongue.gif), duffers and robben.

i'm thinking back to the days on gronjkaer but i guess he can't compare to the duff-robben and the guddy-jimmy connection

a bit old though..but the duff and robben combo were arguably our best wingers who played in the system these last few years

like liverpool down 2 -0 but last min win 3-2 rclxub.gif really really make me fire up vmad.gif

but we chelsea cannot take 3 point with totteham(which bottom of the table) is a very very wasted

and now most of ours first 11 is injury we might having the same fate . i really hope we can win this game

hope solari play 4 4 2

left side A.cole partner with ballack , right stupid ferriera with j.cole , middle Lampard and deco .

striker anelka and kalou. and i really hope lam and anelka don't angin buruk if not bye bye chelsea i go support sunderland lagi bagus

Replying to a thread with just ONE word is considered as a spam (correct me if I am wrong)

Although the information you have stated has nothing offensive in it, but still.. one word for a post? This isnt SMS or YM/MSN fyi, post something more informative instead of just one word, no one here is blaming you for simple matters, but rules remain rules.

Nothing to do with personal sensitivity, but remember, every thread has a leader, old timers, moderators... I hope you respect them (please refer to previous pages where they have already highlighted about this issue)

On topic :-

Which part of hartamas you always watch CHE games? feel like to go to Hartamas tomorrow for the match, Subang Asia cafe is getting boring already lol...

stupid ferreira? are you sure you're a fan of the club?
I liked jesper, but i wouldn't say that he's a 'favourite' type of player. was just watching back the old chelsea- liverpool of 1997 match when we came back from being 2 down to win 4-2. beautiful moment!
As much as you are a chelsea fan, we can't allow your posts to be spam-like like yours. I don't believe this is your first one word with ... post

Yes, 1 word or 1 liners are considered SPAM, esp 1 liners that are without substance.

Bro cannot blame the ref lost is lost , it might happen with boro game too , then you want to blame what ?

like liverpool  down 2 -0  but last min win 3-2  rclxub.gif  really really make me fire up  vmad.gif

but we chelsea cannot take 3 point with totteham(which bottom of the table)  is a very very wasted

and now most of ours first 11 is injury we might having the same fate . i really hope we can win this game

hope solari play 4 4 2

left side A.cole partner with  ballack , right  stupid ferriera with j.cole , middle  Lampard and deco .

striker anelka and kalou. and i really hope lam and anelka don't angin buruk if not bye bye chelsea i go support sunderland lagi bagus
*
im not really blaming the ref, im just saying his decisions were kinda bad. in my point of view.

i think ballack plays attacking mid would be better instead of him going through the flanks.

all players have their good and bad days, but if you're not with chelsea and the team through and through, i guess you should just support any-team-that-is-on-top-of-the-table.

good day.

haha zola is already different class laugh.gif
he would own any attacking players that were mentioned in the other posts..easily! perhaps robben in his first full season when he was on fire, would give him a good run for his money. i see quite a few of us miss the flying dutchman too blush.gif
don't worry..our zola will come back one day as a coach..in the meantime, there are some who consider deco as our new 'zola.'
they both came at 30 as well icon_idea.gif

Ballack has always been an AM, just that he had to accommodate Lamps filling that role at Chelsea. Something like the Eng situation, where Gerrard and Lampard are 2 very similar players.

4-3-3 suits us fine, IMO, Anelka or DD flanked by Kalou and Joey. With Ess/Mikel, Lamps and Ballack in midfield, followed by my current 1st choice back 4 of Ashley, Carvalho, Terry and Bosingwa. this team is also flexible with the 4-4-2 with Joey dropping back and forming a diamond in midfield. we really don't have proper wingers anymore (with Duff, SWP and Robben having left us), just relying on the our fullbacks for the overlap.

hmm perhaps yes. especially after seeing him play for city. scored a thunderbolt for brazil recently too.
i'm sure there's more than a few of us who think 'what if' whenever we see him peform for the other team in blue.
but the thing is he's man city's player so there's no point hoping for something that will never happen now or in the future.
malouda has upped his game too (after being given more playing time), so it could be a blessing in disguise. besides that we have kalou who's just waiting to show what he can do.
forget the brazillian and let's focus on who we have icon_rolleyes.gif

malouda should be ok but still lack of some touch like robben . kalou (he is a striker) guess should train him like T.henry kalouhave the same style of playing like T.henry

With his speed, Kalou is best utilized as a winger. Though he may run into the box when necessary.

yeah they're both quite different actually. malouda's biggest asset is probably his strength, powerful shots and crossing. robben rules in terms of speed, dribbling and finishing. henry is actually kalou's idol. hence the slight similarities i guess. but there's still a long way to go before he can match up 2 the frenchman flex.gif

what about mikel, i think mikel is better as an attacking midfield. saw his national games on youtube and he can bring the ball into the box.

and which was he game he played for chelsea this season when he passed two or three defenders right outside the box?

btw bosingwa is a doubt for the boro clash.
but the good news is that terry seems to be fit again.

if that's the case, we have belleti, ferreira and ivanovic that is able to stand in for boss

he sure has the talent to attack, but we're molding him into the makelele role. however scolari gives him license to go forward sometimes, and that's when we can see the boy actually has very2 good close control.
he went past those defenders against bordeaux btw. rclxm9.gif

For the benefit of those who are not near the TV.

Chelsea will line-up in a 4-1-4-1 formation as follows:

33 Alex
26 John Terry ©
18 Wayne Bridge
35 Juliano Belletti
12 John Mikel Obi
21 Salomon Kalou
8 Frank Lampard
15 Florent Malouda
39 Nicolas Anelka

Substitutes: 40 Hilario, 2 Branislav Ivanovic, 19 Paulo Ferreira, 20 Deco, 42 Michael Mancienne, 16 Scott Sinclair, 43 Miroslav Stoch.

This is interesting. I'd like Mikel to play more in the middle instead of protecting the back four. Seems like he has more attacking tasks to do tonight. But we all know that Belletti loves to go forward as well. Mikel will probably play as a box-to-box role tonight, with Belletti exchanging the role with him from time to time. Deco will come on for either one in the second half.

Let's hope that one of our youngsters get their chance tonight. smile.gif

Come on, Chels!

We've overcome the boogey on this team. Job well done in all dept. Big Phil sure is really something. Even with the injury hit list, he didn't falter and make sure the player in-hand utilized. Didn't I tell you I see some silver lining somewhere in this season. Well, I did just now. I'm sure this season is gonna be something !!

I can't stop laughing. I left the house at 50th min. Walked 3 mins to the mamak then it was 3-0 already. WTF. Sat down for a while, drinks came 4-0. Took out my cigg, light it, 5-0. My roti telur came, 6-0 but offside. I nearly choked on my teh ais laughing at Lampard's celebration.

JM gave the team a winning mentality. Grant pushed that even further. Now Scolari gave them a polished attacking mentality. Boro's line starting from the DM position to the goal is a joke. Even a grandma on wheelchair can bust through.

1st thing on my mind earlier was the lineup ..

but big phil is big phil ..

he can changed the game, he can motivate the players, he can read opponent's mind i think .. we were away from home + injuries + lots players back from international week + 3 4 games in 8 days ...

According tp Statistic..

We played 8 matches...scoring awesome 19 goals ( almost double from last season )..and conceding only UNLUCKY 3 goals...

that is a STAT to be proud of Big Phil.. nod.gif flex.gif rclxms.gif

a very decent match today thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

its really feel good when i watch malouda got assist and goal at the 2nd half.. he wasting to many opportunity in 1st half of the game.. i think he can really play well as a right winger and kalou will cover the left side of the field.. good tactical change made by Big Phil in 2nd half..

belleti has found his new position.. 2 times play as a DM give him 2 goals. what a good performance for a player who play out of position..

anelka once again caught up with offside trap made by opponent.. he always be at the offside position.. not to say he also play out of position.. i think he not suitable to play as a lone striker.. but, he got 1 assist today.. it is good but not good enough for him..

---- even i fired up for next match againts liverpool---

When a beautiful game like this comes through, i like to take some time to give my two cents for each player's performances.

Cudicini (7.5/10)

Although he didn't really show us his top class reflexes, he proved worthy of bringing calm to the defenses by coming out to collect high balls (like Cech does). Was a picture of composure when terry backpassed the ball back to him under pressure and cudicini took it in his stride and not only did he clear it but he released kalou down the right

Bosingwa (8/10)

He played as though he wasn't injured this week. Still romping up and down the flank, ruling it. His composure on the ball is also excellent wit hhim keeping possession and spreading the play to the centre constantly. Defensively, his pace is a definite asset as he chased down the opposition and won possession.

Alex (8/10)

A total monster in the air and on the ground. Defensively sound as he clears the ball from the penalty box, and offensively aware as he stole back possession to keep our boys in the final third! (ala Ricky)

Terry (9/10)

Captain marvel at his best by CONSTANTLY (90% of the time) winning thundering headers! His positioning is World Class. Kept the back line solid, never flinches even when alves hits a freekick right at his chest/stomach.

Bridge (7.5/10)

I think it took a while for bridgey to pick up, but when he got his first cross in, it was classic Bridgey all over again! His crosses are both dangerous and accurate, although he doesn't run as much as ashley does. I remember the part where the ball came back to him three times and he chested each one down calmly and cleared without any problems

Mikel (8/10)

Mikel is truly developing into the legendary Maka indeed, PLUS his eye for an attacking through ball! All over the field, winning balls, distributing possession all over the field, helping out the defense. A gem of a player for us!

Belletti (9.5/10)

Belletti is the all new reinvented midfield man for us! I think i don't need to mention his THUNDERBOLT but i always knew that when belletti plays he will ALWAYS take some long shots on goal! He won balls, took over the right back position when bosingwa was up, kept possession. What else can we ask from Belletti when Deco, Ballack, Essien are out!

Lampard (9.5/10)

What a player in lamps we have. He runs from box to box, getting in to take shots and his diving header was like a out and out striker's header! Ruled the middle of the park without any hiccups.

Malouda (6.5/10)

Was lively BUT his decision making needs some much needed tweaking. Personally, i feel that for a left footer, his technique on the ball (when striking with his left foot) isn't very good. Kept him above the 6 rating because of his goal.

Kalou (8.5/10)

He comes from the ivory coast, kalou, kalou!
He comes off the bench to score against Man U, Man U!
And now he adds a brace to his tally. Although twice deflected, he's getting lively on the ball and becoming a hassle for defenses with his pace
Well done, kalou for kicking things off!

Anelka (8/10)

Deserved a goal tonight. His pace also troubled the defenses. He's beginning to win balls in the air for his team, unlike previously.
He's strong so he should be winning more balls. But good play overall

Good to see ferreira, bridgey, deco and scotty get some minutes. Especially for deco and scotty (who got 15 minutes on the field)
Our strength in depth will need EVERYONE to be at his best as the carling and FA matches kick in as well.

Chelsea for the quadruple!!

Probably they took that Fulham advice if they mark Maka then they will beat us. And maybe the Boro players went down and didn't know who to mark at all when they realized Maka is long gone from our team lmfao

im speechless. near perfect performance by the boys today.

cudicini was lika ninja! jumping to catch two corner crosses.

alex and terry kept a solid backline.

mikel held the midfield well, but still i think he should go forward.

malouda was fast, and like spike said, bad decisions in front of the goal.

bridge and bosingwa was abit sloppy at the back but they were great infront.

belletti? notworthy.gif

lampard was great on the attack too, holding the ball against one or two defenders. got a header and a hell of a goal celebration!

kalou was superb! he gets 9.9/10 from me! great assist, saw opportunities, made two goals.

anelka regaining his hitman instincts.

kalou's my man of the match for that game rclxms.gif our biggest win under big phil! and i thought it was going to be a difficult game.
not too sure what happened to boro though..the only player that looked threatening was mido.
i remain in awe of scolari's work with the team. first season, blighted with injuries to key personnel, and he still gets the players to perform at their best and bang in a few goals while they're at it.
for me that's what makes him stand out when compared side by side with mourinho.
i only hope roman was watching..camera didn't catch a glimpse of him aye? i'm sure he'll catch the repeat and be stupendously impressed flex.gif
eventhough its still just the first few games, like i said before based on how he's doing now, he looks set to be here for a long time. (sorry zola, u have to wait a little longer for the time being blush.gif )
pleasing the fans, management and players. what more can u ask for from a coach? it makes me really glad we didn't end up with rijkaard or ancelotti smile.gif

more goals like this will ensure our deposits of goals that would be useful at the end of this league... nice adding and it was proven even with some minor or major sidelines, big phil can create something this monstrous thumbup.gif

sometimes he's hot sometimes he's cold. against boro i'd say he was warm.heheh. but i liked his poacher's instinct for the goal. he slid in like what..half a second after the boal rebounded off the post?? tongue.gif
deco looked rusty..but still managed to put in about two KILLER passes. we will be looking to him to create for the game against liverpool.
whether he starts or not..i'm not sure. a .little worried he might not be up to the pace yet. supersub maybe..?
and can we bank on the same players we used against boro? hmm.gif

Sure it does. Our clubhouse is where the TRUE BLUES hang out, and where you'll truly feel at home with other fellow BLUES.

Membership is still open to those yet to sign up, get some feedback from those here already signed, I'm sure they will recommend you to do similar. biggrin.gif

No more. Maybe you can plan a hang out place for the LYN BLUES. Ask who is interested and discuss a convenient hangout place. smile.gif

yea sometimes when members' attendance is not that overwhelming, non-members can join in for the large screen viewing. doubt you'll get that for big games though, esp this weekend!

hope to see most of you there then! and it's 2125 KO as per local listings as provided.

This is interesting considering the current Roma's form and ours. Our another advantage is that we're playing at home this round. It will be interesting to see how they react from their current form. smile.gif

Yup have to agree with you there mate, interesting match indeed. Will Roma be like wounded lions and come back stronger? Or will the morale-sapping defeat last week contribute to another defeat this week?

Hope to see the 'reserves' seizing another opportunity to prove their worth to the squad, and not flatter to deceive. Another repeat performance similar to Middlesbrough will be welcomed, hopefully Nic can score to continue his current rich vein of form for us.

hmmm interesting to see how n who will big phil pick for our lineup

for me ;

--------Cech
boss-jt-alex-bridge
--------mikel
----deco-lamps
Kalou-anelka-malouda

subs; Cudicini,beleti,feriera,ivanovic,joe,disanto,sinclair

-tats the point he played deco for 15+minutes against boro to get some match fitness for this wed match..
-beleti will come on for deco or lamps if we 2 or 3 nil leading
-joe will play for 10-15minutes.
-jt or boss also will subs off within 10-15minutes left ..

3-0 win
Lampard
Anelka
Malouda

i was quite surprised he went to roma actually..he troubled us many times while he was with liverpool. still remember his superb volley in the carling cup if i'm not mistakened. but his last goal was..comical to say the least.hehe

ahh that's a bit of a relief. thought maybe there were some people cursing us for sitting there tongue.gif

yeah madfag, sometimes at home we tend to be a bit too 'relaxed' so to speak. but don't worry..jose has softened up roma a little for us. whether that's a good thing or otherwise remains to be seen!

Well gotta say Inter playin style is kinda like Chelsea now. With the same formation but LPS has indeed added the necessary flair and joga bonito in the game of Chelsea... If Roma sunk like a brick to Inter... what more will be for Chelsea?

We got a bunch of very talented players despite them being first 11 or not. I believe all players in the Chelsea squad are proving to themselves, to their coach, to their fans, that they are not just second choice players in Chelsea but they are indeed the lethal bullets and guns of the squads.

He should be fit for tonight, because Scolari played him for 17 minutes against Boro..so my take is he will be the 1-E for Roma match tonight.

Not like I love predicting, and it's quite against the rule here, but I can't deny this thing is what most football fans always have their mind linger on ;p

2-0 - Kalou/Anelka , Lampard

Anelka not bad hor in UCL..ehe

It's been a long time since Terry scored his last goal, and it's going to be a match-winner everytime. tongue.gif

Well, another 3 points in the bag, and looking forward to thrash the high-flying Cluj next match.

I thought we played well, we stuck at it, and got our just reward. Roma's line up leaves little to the imagination, but credit to the boys for sticking to the job and getting it done.

lol... Mr 1 liner.... Mr F1 ...whatever haha...I just knew you are a LIV fan somore XD...

I didn't watched last nite's game... we score a desperate goal wasnt it? any deadly chances other than that? how was deco playing? at what minute JT scored?

Well, its good to know we still keep a clean sheet in UCL stage... this weekend's gona be a hell of a weekend for us... this is quite the key to boost our team's morale... since at the moment, its a dog fight between us and Liverpool.

Desperate? Wouldn't call it that, better as just reward for the boys' labour.

Terry scored on the 77th minute, and Deco was not half bad, but still looked a bit off. Subs include Belletti, Ferreira and Di Santo, on for Malouda, Nic and Kalou respectively.

Good game for those coming back into it, incl Cech, Ricky and Deco.

it's too early with that.. as you know that blues were packed with good midfielders..maybe this is the right time for big phil to test out and bring out the hidden talent in them.. so far i admired all his characteristics and tactical.. i am pretty sure that we will grab the FA champion back

it was terry's night. no doubt about it! its been a looong time since we've seen him attack headers with such ferocity! and more than 2 years since his last champions league goal if i'm not mistakened. perfect in defense and what a header as well. one of his best games i must say, even if it sounds a bit exaggerated blush.gif
riccy comes in at a close second..what a joy to have him back. and mikel..what can i say..a colossus in midfield. he's pretty fast for a tall guy if u guys noticed. probably due to those super long legs biggrin.gif
malouda got hauled off at the break and rightly so..this guy continues to baffle us with his on and off performances. haih.
it would be unthinkable to let go of sinclair now..i see him as a long term replacement for the frenchman to be honest.
overall we controlled the game, played quite good but could've been a lot better. credit to roma for being extremely organised.
hate to say this but i think the liverpool game will probably be played out in the same manner. its going to be a tight game..with not many goals.
sometimes u just gotta win ugly if that's what it takes.

After drawing with Man Utd, we can't afford for another draw with Liverpool or we need to win over Arsenal.
People will doubt the team when we ourself can't beat the big 4-1.

dealing with the kop, all we need is to avoid any close contact with their defenders. watch over for the left attacking flank where Stevie always make through that area. anyway try to lock and minimize kop's key players.

i really wanted ballack to be fit in this match where his aerial attack can be very useful during corner and free kick.. as for drogba's gigantic attacks, we have kalou or simply deco to finish it... have your believe in lamps guys

Mourinho: Fantastic four are divers

Inter Milan's Jose Mourinho says Didier Drogba, Cristiano Ronaldo, Fernando Torres and Robin van Persie "are the divers" in English football.

user posted image

Chelsea striker Drogba has often been criticised for going to ground too easily but was vigorously defended by former Blues boss Mourinho during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Now, just over a year after leaving Chelsea, Mourinho has turned on the 30-year-old while also hitting out at Ronaldo, Torres and van Persie for the same thing.

He told feelfootball.com: "I am no longer Chelsea coach, and I do not have to defend them any more, but I think it is correct if I say Drogba is a diver.

"Drogba, Ronaldo, Torres and van Persie are the divers. Who dives more? Who has won more penalties in recent years? But English football is the one that criticises the divers the most."

Mourinho claims he is against diving but encourages his players to go to ground if they are fouled.

He added: "I hate diving, but I'm not happy if a player is kicked by somebody in the box and he tries to remain standing.

"It's very, very rare a referee gives a decision if the player doesn't go down so I tell players not to be naive, but to be fair."

I don't think it's direct criticism, he did mention about 3 other names as well. And I think we all know DD sometimes over-exaggerate his falls/fouls, but he is indeed a valuable member of the squad, not least when we need a target man upfront.

i agree with krovaxq too. there is no need for a new striker for our type of play. anelka is scoring and drogba will be back to full fitness. our attacking midfielders have high scoring abilities too. there is no point trying to fit a new guy into the team atm.

Yea personally, I think Chelsea's strikers are fine enough. Drogba'll be back soon and Anelka will be a sub again. Sign another one and you'll have a slight problem there. Like how we (Man Utd fans) are trying to fit Tevez into the equation. sweat.gif

Good luck for the LP match btw.

Somehow I am worried of Babel and Kuyt.. they're dangerous -.-...

at times of big matches, our defend might have this tinywiny % of occuring defensive-error...we can look at the past , but for tmr...*touch wood*

I dont mind if we win ugly for this 1, its the chase of the top table and we entirely not ever wanna screw up on this...

and yeah, its at Stamford Bridge... if we cant get a hold on this 1, in the later stage..we gona meet them away... which is smth more crucial =\

I dont remember having to be able to do a come-back as lucky though...just IMO.

its all about, half-time talk, players' morale, determination and many more aspects... not all teams can come out with these results...

that's something I really admire about Liverpool, although lack of consistency n stuffs, but they really are good...last few seasons they weren't consistent...now i can see that.. but yeah, which teams would want to rely on 'come-back' right? its too risky..

i'm slightly surprised we aren't going to try and sign at least one player in jan. do u guys think drogba and anelka can remain fit for most of the matches? at this moment in time, if anelka gets a serious knock we're basically screwed in the strikers department. as much as i admire di santo, we cannot burden him with all the responsibilities upfront when no one else is available. keep in mind he's still a young lad. but remember scolari said we might get another player if there are any sudden injuries to key players (touch wood). so that sounds quite sensible.
i foresee a tight match vs liverpool..and i'll be thankful for even an ugly 1-0 win. wouldn't be too shocked if torres showed up as well tongue.gif

Well yea, agree with Kerplunk... as much as we will keep relying on Drogba (which is not on form as I believe) and Anelka (He performs, and he bagged us goals too) ...Di Santo (still too young and inexperienced to be Chelsea's striker..its a hell of a job) ...but if again, we have injuries...

but look at Essien, his injuries made Mikel a good replacement IMHO, and furthermore we have the newly signed brazillian, we have Deco in addition too aye? n most recently..Belleti.

We have new defenders, Bosingwa and Ivanovic(he's still new to the squad anyway) and we have Deco ... we have the lonely Di Santo..well I think if we get just 1 striker for our January transfer..that'd be very good for me already heehe...

Looking at our goal tally stats also....

Lampard - 6
Anelka - 5

rest of 3 goals are all midfielders, Drogba none so far...injury nightmare.

so my point here is, are we gonna keep on having most strengths on our midfielders? may i know if someone to be kind to post last 2 seasons' goal tally for Chelsea? Specially those with Drogba being the top scorer? Im curious to see the other players' goal sheet....where was our attacking strength before (at JM's management) and where is it now? (as of Scolari's management)

3 games came back right on the end and bagged 3 points, that is not luck dude, that is determination and fighting spirit.

Hull trampling WBA now... 3-0... what a match....

They have a very good start... but yeah, as people say... wait till we reach the mid-season... but IMHO, they are a good team...

nah, i think they will get injured sooner or later. yeah, di santo is still fitting in with the big boys and chelsea cannot fully depend on him yet. i doubt torres will show up though. letting a player who isnt fully fit might cost the team the game. yeah, as long as we bag 3 points in the bridge, i dont care how they do it.

and thanks for the game last night though. it was fun. although i really lack of stamina sad.gif

I believe Skrtel is still injured and impossible to play for later match against u guys. But, he is one scary defender too. He might be replaced by Aurelio or Dossena, which both have a good run on the flank too.

yeah skrtel will be unavailable..but agger's in. i'm not too sure who's better though. but skrtel definitely wins in the 'looking brutal' department. hehe
eyh miz...how come tevez isn't starting? i think he deserves to be in your lineup..God knows how long he's willing to warm the bench.

Im not sure about Tevez, he had been performing good for the past matches, but certainly SAF was trying to find combination to partner Berbatov in the attacking department, and Rooney was outstanding in the International, BPL and UCL (he couldnt stop scoring until yesterday) so I guess thats the main reason Rooney was starting ahead of Tevez.

How about Deco ? Fit for starter ? Cross finger Lampard and Bosingwa performing well (they are my Fantasy Premier League players which havent stop scoring lotsa points for my teams, which means they are performing really well so far).

Skrtel is injured from the match which I've forgotten. Man City I think. Awkward landing. Don't worry bout it. Deco is definitely a starter for the match barring any torn muscle during warm-up.

I have this feeling tonite how our goal would be.
a. Bosingwa makes a run after Gerard lose the ball,
b. Play 1-2 with Mikel and he takes a shot
c. Reina makes the save and Joe Cole score from rebound

Haha. I really hope Joe Cole will score tonite. icon_rolleyes.gif

It has been a great half, with Mikel anchoring the midfield, we just need a tick from Anelka.

the heck, I thought Chelsea is unbeatable in the Bridge, seems that I'm wrong.

be it their defend is strong or our attack s***s big. I will have to go for the latter as many chances were wasted. And somehow I feel that the ref is a bit advantageous to Liverpool.

this match is such a big let down

Chins up, boys. There's nothing negative from the loss. I would personally take it as a good loss. Firstly, we lose to a worthy team. When Villa tried to end our streak at the Bridge, I (and all of us) didn't want that to happen because they're not worth it. Yesterday when papers are all over Alonso's statement, well, if you can do it why not since they're a very strong team this season. At least its not Hull that ended our streak

Second of all, it takes the pressure of our boys. With so many blue jerseys in the stadium expecting them to hold the fort at the Bridge, it ain't easy for them. But they showed in the dying moments how far they can push it. When the January window opens, Kenyon better think twice and either haul in another striker or bring back Ben Sahar as a stand in for Drogba. Up front, its really empty. Anelka doesn't cut it as a lone striker, his positioning is utterly horrible.

Di Santo is good. I really like what I see on the pitch. Really really deadly pace especially when going after misplaced passes. Control-wise, well takes time. And MaLOLda, for fk's sakes, either stop picking him for first 11 or sell that piece of crap back to France please.

Records are meant to be broken. We broke Liverpool's record, now they ended ours, fair and square. Its better to lose now than to lose nearing the end of season with the same positions on the table before the game.

KTBFFH, boys.

A good game from both team...

But i disagree that ref is being bias... the fact tat he showed yellow to riera and mascherano proved tat...

If riera really deserves yellow, same go to Belleti(for the tackle) and Terry(for pushing reina)

A good game from both sides... smile.gif

So true... so very true...

Only think i was kinda let down was... Anelka... not being physical enough tackling those high balls... Well, i wish he were abit more physical like DD... push and shove a lil' and den control the ball...

But i was impressed with Di Santo's superiority in the air... He has improved on that technique alot... He did gave AC a superb chance... I'm beginning to love this DS kid more and more... rclxms.gif

Totally agree with Acey's.

We lost to a team that showed us their title credential, and Liverpool could be the team to be stopped this year. They have been good, and greater in today match. To come to the bridge and get maximum points ain't easy stuff, it takes courage and confidence! And Liverpool is a complete team today! they have beaten Man Utd, Chelsea. So next match against Arsenal will be an early indication of their ability.

Back to our side, I always doubt about our attacking ability. Games after games Anelka proves to us that he is not the type of striker that can hold up the defenders alone. He has been anonymous this noon and to be fair, I think we played with 10 men today.

Di Santo on the other hand is good, but he needs more games for experience, he certainly lacks it.

What a waste from Ashley Cole, it would have made him into instant hero of he nicked in the goal.

But it's history now and most importantly is to hold your chin up and look forward.

If we are to play lone striker everytime, Aguero is not an option, he's just a link not an out-and-out striker. The ideal lone striker for our team... is very the hard to find seriously lol. Positioning and poaching like Van Nistelrooy with one-touch shots as deadly as Torres. We did have one, Drogba, when he was top scorer. Now gone.

Wonder who will be the missing link in our attacking line apart from DD...
We somehow need someone who can hold the ball for midfielders to offer alternative attacking option.

If its linking up, my choice would still be a 100% fit Michael Ballack if Scolari plays him behind the striker. With that experience and size, barging thru defense (if he's willing to) or a simple flick is not a problem for him.

Sadly Ballack is aging and well passed his peak. Somehow he can't find his best in Stamford Bridge, but Scolari might get the best out of him.

Anelka is used to play at that way. During his time in Bolton, he will be running left to right, but still scoring goals! Just that he is not used to play as a lone striker, try putting DD with him and I bet it will be a big bang! tongue.gif

Well. what can I say, the player didn't play well and deserved to be punish and the punishment is really really costly. Our home run unbeaten been broken. Too many loose ball and player get dispossess quite easily. We can't seem to beat two of big four team in our soil which make me pretty worried. Enough with that, let's keep our head up high and move up to secure next points.

ya, Anelka cant be a lone striker...look when Di Santo came in, we played better than we were without him.... maybe 2 strikers is what we need now...

Anelka plays more like a link to me...n yea, rebound ball king XD~

ahh what can i say..i think we can all agree that the manner in which we surrendered the record to liverpool was most disappointing.
many players didn't look up for it. and i felt scolari took off malouda and kalou just a wee bit too soon. i mean..there goes two of our wide players.and we all know how hard it is to break through liverpool in the middle.belleti didn't have the desired impact but i think di santo had a good game. he made a difference. anelka, lamps, deco all failed to make their mark. in other words, it was spurs all over again sweat.gif
doesn't take a mad scientist to see that we missed drogs. but good to see di santo filling in for him.
the two positives that i can think of are di santo's and mikel's performances. especially the former.
its a long season, so let's keep our heads up eh. come on the chels!!!! smile.gif

Its not the worst game for us,we always played like this against liverpool and that's it..now we pay the price. But its ok,losing can also be a good thing, its like a knock to the player's head and add up as a reminder that any mistake or lose of focus, and we pay the price.

come on chelsea!!..

records are meant to be broken. the record isnt as important as this season and the three points we need to claim every match. the boys did their best and im still proud of them. they played their hearts out. its only the first leg, we can still bounce back.

keep the blue flag flying high. CHELSEA, CHELSEA!

ps: thanks to whichever mod that updated the results smile.gif
